Chapter 138: Chapter 132: The Business Alliance is about to Cry_2

Leaping onto the second floor and gripping onto a handrail, the youth performed an athletic flip, using a few quick steps to charge onto the roof like a gecko. He started making his way to the glass window on the edge to find an escape. But before he could go far, a swooshing sound echoed from the side.

Moving to inspect quickly, he noticed a chain claw piercing through the darkness at extreme speed, followed by a silhouette wearing a trench coat.

So, there was a hidden ambush!

The youth didn’t pay much mind though; despite the speed of the chain claw, it was not quick enough to evade him given his agility value.

However, just as he was planning to leap aside, he realised he was losing balance as the ground beneath him slid.

Even under these circumstances, the youth reacted quickly and managed to grasp the steel frame, preventing himself from falling. However, it was too late to dodge the oncoming chain claw.

The next second, the chain claw caught his shoulder, dragging him toward the silhouette.

In mid-air, the youth adjusted his form and pulled out a curved knife from his waistline. He lured the ambush away with a shining, crescent-shaped light.

Yet, Mu You only took a step back before charging again. The youth wished not to engage further because, during the moment they clashed, he realized that this attacker was not much weaker than him and it would be a problem if they continued to fight here.

While stepping backwards, the youth lifted the magic wand in his left hand, casting a highly practiced sluggish curse to create some distance between them.

Unexpectedly, when the curse landed on the opponent, it just made a soft pop sound and disappeared like a soap bubble. His opponent seized the opportunity and launched an unobstructed attack, surprising the youth and hitting him squarely in the gut.

The youth was sent flying, barely grabbing onto the next layer of crossbeams. While performing a rotation in the air, he noticed a thin line swinging towards him, tied to the end of it, was a tiny spider with a pink shell.

"Not good!"

Realising the danger, the youth was certain that the spider appearing out of the blue was far from an ordinary creature.

Sure enough, in the next moment, the spider released a substantial spiderweb.

Being in mid-air and in close proximity, there was no way he could dodge at this point. Fight or flight kicked in, he swiftly removed his white glove on his right hand, which then vanished into thin air. The next second, he was encapsulated in the spider web, losing balance and beginning to fall.

Just halfway through his fall, Mu You teleported, caught him, and teleported again, appearing two meters above the stage.

"Thump!"

Mu You landed steadily, throwing the youth trapped by the spider web onto the floor.

The others hurried back, quickly surrounding the stand with additional personnel.

Zhang Yang and Huang Zhichao rushed onto the stage to Mu You’s side.

Seeing how Mu You managed to capture the thief, Zhang Yang breathed a sigh of relief, while Huang Zhichao also exhaled his anxiety.

If the hidden relic had been stolen on the day that it was showcased at their recruiting event, it would not just be a question of compensation. It would significantly damage the reputation of their business alliance and the Paranormal Investigations Bureau!

Thankfully, the thief was caught in time. Otherwise, they would not have known how to explain their failure.

After squatting down in front of the youth and searching him, Mu You found a coin and flung it to the woman across: "Here, yours."

Upon receiving the coin and confirming that it was indeed hers, the woman, Xia Chuyu Bing, let out a sigh of relief and gratefully looked at Mu You: "Thank you!"

"You’re welcome."

Mu You casually replied as he searched the youth’s pockets, procuring a few other items and tossing them to their respective owners below the stage.

"Yours..."

"This is yours..."

"Yours..."

...

After a brief round of redistribution, the stolen items quickly returned to their rightful owners. Mu You had recorded all of these actions, ensuring there would be no disputes from any parties.

Mu You continued to search him but found nothing else. It seemed that the guy had considered the risks of being caught while thieving and hence did not carry any excess valuables with him.

Moreover, Mu You noticed that just before he was caught in the spider web, the youth deliberately removed his gloves and sent them to some unknown location. The gloves were certainly not on his person now.

"Brother, we’re fortunate you were here today, or our station would’ve been gravely embarrassed!" said Zhang Yang, emotionally patting Mu You’s shoulder after seeing that matters had been settled satisfactorily.

"Heh, I held a grudge against this guy too, so we just happened to bump into each other. He was unlucky." Mu You shrugged his head and asked, "So, what will we do with this guy?"

"Mmm, let’s take him back to the bureau for questioning first," Zhang Yang suggested.

"Wait a minute!"

At this point, Huang Zhichao rushed over and thanked Mu You. Then, he spoke to everyone present, "I apologize for startling everyone. The incident was due to my lack of foresight. To compensate, each player present here today can collect a red packet worth ten thousand at the front desk before leaving. Moreover, anyone who just assisted us can receive five million from our business alliance. As for Brother You, we owe you a lot today, and we will definitely reward you generously later!"

Huang Zhichao’s immediate ’big money’ generosity quieted everyone, his actions earning their favor. Any dissatisfaction from the recent conflict vanished instantly, replaced by a joyous atmosphere.

Watching an exciting battle and receiving a red packet is a win-win. If these good things could happen more often, nobody would mind.

After finishing his announcements, Huang Zhichao walked over to the youth tied up like a dumpling, smiled, and said, "Brother, you’re quite capable. Would you be interested in joining a guild? If you agree to join our business alliance, we’ll forgive recent events, guaranteed without any charges against you!"

Huang Zhichao’s proposition was quite straightforward, but he had no other choice in the matter.

Seeing Mu You’s skill earlier, he couldn’t help but regret: they couldn’t catch a thief that Mu You could arrest single-handedly!

The gap in their abilities made Huang Zhichao envious.

What a great talent! If only he could join their business alliance...

Unfortunately, Mu You was already a member of the Paranormal Investigations Bureau, and there was no way he could compete.

Having learned his lesson, Huang Zhichao valued talent over his pride. He was ready to recruit the thief, who had just made a fool of them.

"Hmph, not interested!"

The youth snorted coldly in response, without even sparing him a glance. His harsh response didn’t resemble a thief who was just arrested but more a spy accidentally caught by the enemy, ready for whatever happened next.

"..."

Huang Zhichao felt awkward. He had just given away so much money mainly to alleviate everyone’s grudges against the youth, but it was not appreciated.

Of course, it wasn’t about the money. It was just a small amount, and spending it to earn the favor of the players was definitely worthwhile.

"Then, take him away..."

Given the youth’s firm refusal, Huang Zhichao had no choice but to allow the officers of the Paranormal Investigations Bureau to take the youth away.
