Chapter 135: Chapter 131 Summer Insect Meets Ice _1
Mu You stood alone in the shadows of the second floor balcony, covertly observing the attributes of the players down below.

...
Today is only the sixth day of big-scale beta testing. Given these six days, and the intense level of competition for resources, most new players are still stuck between levels one and three.
Those who can advance to level four are already the cream of the crop among the new players. If they can also possess a skin of any kind, even the simplest of skins, their standings would rise significantly.
As Mu You observes and operates his phone, he occasionally sends a message to Zhang Yang when he comes across a new player with impressive attributes or skins.
Certainly, there are some veteran players attending the recruitment, but they are a rare sight. That’s because seasoned players with any real skill would have been absorbed by other forces. Alternatively, they might be players completely uninterested in joining a guild. Either way, such players likely would not attend a recruitment fair in the first place.
Among the few veteran players present, most were poor performers with very low potential. Their worth may not even compare to that of the new players.
A temporary exhibition stage was set up deep inside the hall. Along its edges, 11 tables were arranged, each representing one of the 11 recruiting entities.
Among them, the entities with the highest statuses were undoubtedly the Bureau of Deviation Adjustment and the Commerce Alliance. Most applicants present were attracted by the reputation of these two top-notch groups.
Of the other nine, two were minor forces within the country, and the rest were all local private enterprises. They couldn’t even be considered player factions. They merely hoped to recruit some Transcendents with specific abilities during the fair to aid their businesses in transitioning and catching the upward trend of the emerging magic industry.
The newbies in the hall all had a number hanging on their chest upon entry, indicating the order of their appearance on stage. They would try to display their abilities as best as they could.
Relic, magic, skins, attributes - they would exhibit all of these aspects. The representatives of each faction would then estimate the potential and strength of each applicant, to decide whether or not to recruit them.
Of course, recruitment was a two-way selection process. Much like many talent audition shows on television, if a faction took interest in an applicant, they would light up a lamp and present their offerings. The newbies would then decide which faction they wished to join. If the factions that lit up their lamps fell into disfavor with them, applicants could also choose to reject them.
The Bureau of Deviation Adjustment was still quite competitive in this regard. Although it did not have as much financial power as the Commerce Alliance, it represented the country after all, and there were quite a few young players present with patriotic fervor.
Besides, aligning oneself with the national forces also implied the ideas of future ’stability’ and ’guaranteed livelihood,’ something many found appealing. It’s not for nothing that people rush to become civil servants. Many people were willing to reduce their expected salary to join the Bureau over other factions.
However, the financial prowess of the Commerce Alliance should not be underestimated. After an hour, the number of players recruited by both sides was roughly equal, and they had all selected the best of the best.
Only after the top two factions finished picking over the newbies did they become available to the other nine factions.
Despite this, not all excellent beginners chose the Bureau and the Commerce Alliance. A few independent-minded individuals decided to join smaller factions instead.
Joining a small faction also had its benefits: less competition, concentrated resources, and as long as a small faction was willing to invest heavily in your development, the prospects weren’t necessarily worse than joining a larger faction.
Consequently, some players, preferring to be the head of a chicken rather than the tail of a phoenix, chose to join a small faction they had faith in.
This was where Mu You couldn’t help any longer. Recruitment was Zhang Yang’s responsibility, who undoubtedly had more experience than he did. His job was to recommend promising rookies to Zhang Yang.
Mu You glanced over the queue of players waiting below, and occasionally looked at the exhibition stage to observe the newbies’ relic exhibition segment.
After a little over two hours, he had seen quite a number of unique relics.
Treasure Gathering Box: A treasure chest that produces a random treasure at regular intervals.
Treasure Map: A parchment that shows a treasure map at regular intervals. Digging at the indicated location leads to treasure.
Brewing Bottle: A bottle that automatically refills with healing wine each day, which can restore HP and Magic Power once consumed.
Puppet Doll: A doll with attributes identical to its owner. It self-regenerates when damaged and can be used to aggro monsters in battle, thereby preventing the owner from being hurt.
Various Magic Wands: These were the most common relics yet the least useful. They all have at least one special effect, but most of these effects turn out to be flashy and not practical.
Other relics included the Boomerang, cloaks that ignored fire, frost, or thunder, amulets that produced a shield every so often, and a Magic Hat that allowed for a random prize draw daily, and so on...
However, after one round, despite the variety of effects, all of the relics displayed were ordinary relics. No hidden relics had been displayed yet.
Mu You didn’t care, though. He continued scanning the crowd below, moving his gaze occasionally to the display stage to watch the relic exhibition segment. Suddenly, his gaze landed on a particular figure in the crowd.
