Chapter 1038: Chapter 482: Fairy’s Tears
[You watched as the Fairy Lady turned into a speck of light and disappeared.]
[At the spot where the Fairy Lady had left, you collected a bottle of ’Lucky Dust’.]
It seemed the Fairy Lady had truly recovered, walking and starting to normally lose dust again, good!
Mu You stored the dust carefully and immediately searched for ’Bitter Garden’ on the forum afterward, but as expected, there were no records.
Mu You hurriedly summoned the Lamp God to consult him, but unfortunately, even after listening, the Lamp God just scratched his head. To save lamp oil consumption, he had spent most of his time sleeping in the desert after arriving in the Star Spirit World, rarely paying attention to the external world. He really wasn’t aware of the changes among the Fairy Race.
"Such an important race can’t just vanish into thin air..." Mu You furrowed his brows.
After hesitating for a moment, he closed his eyes and entered a meditative state, linking his thoughts to the Karma Lines.
He planned to ask the old Admins. Those folks had survived from the previous era, and even if the Bitter Garden didn’t appear in this era, it should have existed in the past one, right?
Fortunately, the Admins didn’t refuse to communicate with him, and soon Mu You’s consciousness reappeared in that underground space.
The Admins were currently busy fixing bugs. After several days and nights of intensive work, the Divinity system’s malfunctions had been largely fixed, and instances of swallowing Divinity were rare now.
"Bitter Garden?" When they heard Mu You’s question, they paused for a moment, all looking at him with surprise.
"Yes, the task says it is a Sky City? Do you know of this place?" Mu You asked.
The Admins looked at each other then, the leader giving a bitter smile, "Of course we know, because Bitter Garden is the prototype for all Sky Cities!"
"Hm?" Mu You was truly startled. "Prototype... Does that mean that all twelve Sky Cities were modeled after Bitter Garden?"
"Of course, what else do you think we mere mortals could design that would match the wonder of a Sky City?" the elder laughed.
"Bitter Garden was a city casually created by the gods when they initially created the Star Spirit World, and it is the only city in the Star Spirit World that can permanently hover in the sky. The reason they allowed it to float was to enable the Fairy Race to fly to different parts of the world at any time to construct Statues of Gods for other races."
"At the end of the last era, we managed to establish a connection with the Fairy Race after much cost and obtained the blueprints of Bitter Garden from them. Now, the present twelve Sky Cities are all replicas built based on those blueprints. Both in terms of materials used and completion, they are somewhat inferior to the original Bitter Garden; many features have not been fully realized."
"So, strictly speaking, only Bitter Garden is the real Sky City. The ones we made can only be considered knockoffs," added the others.
"I see..."
Mu You nodded, then asked, "So where is Bitter Garden now?"
"This..."
They looked at each other and hesitated somewhat.
"To be honest, we also don’t know," the leader sighed.
"At the time when the Great Cataclysm was imminent, we obtained the Fairy Race’s blueprints and immediately retreated to the Forgotten Land. Only over three hundred years after the Great Cataclysm ended and the new era began did we return from the Forgotten Land to the Star Spirit World. By then, we discovered that Bitter Garden was no longer in the Star Spirit World."
"Without the gods’ maintenance, each Great Cataclysm reduces the land of the Star Spirit World somewhat, leading to the disappearance of some races. We thought the Fairy Race had just happened to disappear this time, so we didn’t pay attention."
"However, we later found a few members of the Fairy Race on the continent, proving that the Fairy Race hadn’t been annihilated. As for the whereabouts of the Fairy Race’s group and Bitter Garden, we’ve never been able to find them since then. Moreover, as we had already procured the required Statues of Gods for our city-building beforehand, we no longer needed the Fairy Race and didn’t investigate further."
Mu You listened and frowned, "So are you saying something must have happened within the Fairy Race during the three hundred years after the last Great Cataclysm, leading to the disappearance of this group?"
"That’s one way to understand it," the elder nodded, then suddenly remembered something and hurriedly said, "Oh, right, if you want to find the Fairy Race, you might start with the Lan Ai’er Imperial Capital."
"Oh? How so?"
"Because the last time we saw Bitter Garden, it was right over what is now the Lan Ai’er Imperial Capital," the elder said with a smile.
"I see, thanks a lot."
Mu You got the clue he wanted, thanked them, and withdrew his consciousness from the Karma Lines.
"Imperial Capital..."
Mu You opened his eyes in the dimly lit room.
The Imperial Capital, coupled with ’Bitter Garden’, immediately made Mu You think of a place — Bitter Forest!
Bitter Forest is located within Red Rose Academy and is known to be a dangerous forbidden area, strictly off-limits to ordinary students at all times.
Mu You had only unlocked the permission to this forbidden area after passing the seventh-grade exam at the academy previously.
Although it was just a small patch of woods, hardly comparable to the vastness of a land-like Sky City, this was the place Mu You currently knew of that might likely have something to do with ’Bitter Garden’.
Thinking this, Mu You logged back into the game and teleported to Red Rose Academy.
