Chapter 130: Chapter 108 Practice Flying

October 18th, after several days of cold, it finally started snowing.

Jiang Xuan stood at the doorway, watching the snowflakes gracefully fall, yet his heart felt none of the tension from last year.

Because this year, the Vine Tribe had abundant food, there was no need to worry about the winter famine.

Tang Yuan lay in the bamboo shed, curled up into a purple ball. Upon seeing Jiang Xuan, it stretched its neck to yawn and then tucked its head into its feathers to sleep.

Birds of prey need to hunt during winter too; otherwise, they would starve since they don’t hibernate.

Like the Old Witch’s black giant eagle, almost every noon when the temperature is highest, it would go out for a flight to hunt those animals that also don’t hibernate.

Tang Yuan is different. It is still too young, hasn’t learned to fly, and relies on running with its claws. It finds it difficult to hunt in such a cold winter.

So it can only lie in its nest to sleep, waiting for the black giant eagle to return from hunting, and would shamelessly "get" a meal.

Indeed, Tang Yuan has learned to "scavenge food".

Having overcome its initial fear, it truly seemed to consider the black giant eagle as "an uncle", often running over to scavenge food.

Strangely, the black giant eagle doesn’t mind, never driving it away, and truly seems to treat it as a junior.

"Screech!"

Suddenly, a sharp cry echoed over the Vine Tribe.

Soon after, the massive black giant eagle, clutching a prey, landed on the ground.

Tang Yuan, who was sleeping in the bamboo shed, quickly pulled its head out from its feathers, becoming fully alert.

Immediately, it stood up, flapping its wings, skillfully pushed open the wooden door support, grabbed the crossbar, and opened the courtyard door.

Then, Tang Yuan quickly ran towards the black giant eagle, leaving only a deep trail of bird claw prints in the snow-covered ground.

"Going to get some food again?"

Jiang Xuan looked with some helplessness at the departing Tang Yuan, feeling the creature was being shameless.

However, upon reflection, he thought Tang Yuan might simply not understand what "shamelessness" meant, as long as it could fill its stomach.

...

Tang Yuan waddled out of the bamboo forest and headed straight for the black giant eagle’s residence.

Perhaps due to the onset of winter, the black giant eagle had built a large nest next to the bamboo house using trees, branches, reeds, and other materials, sleeping there at night.

Wild eagles usually nest on peaks or cliffs, but this black giant eagle, having grown up with humans, was accustomed to nesting on the ground.

Today, the black giant eagle caught a wild boar and placed it next to the eagle’s nest, continuously pecking at it.

Tang Yuan arrived just at this moment.

"Chirp chirp..."

Tang Yuan ran to the side of the giant eagle’s nest, calling twice. The black giant eagle glanced at it and continued eating.

Seeing no response from the eagle, Tang Yuan flapped its wings and climbed up from the edge of the nest, then moved next to the wild boar, cautiously pecking once.

The eagle still didn’t object, prompting Tang Yuan to joyfully begin pecking at the meat, eating quickly.

After both the eagle and Tang Yuan were full, an adult wild boar weighing over a thousand pounds was reduced to only remnants.

"Bang!"

The giant eagle picked up the boar’s bones and threw them outside the nest, accumulating quite a lot of such bones beside the nest.

Once full, Tang Yuan prepared to leave. It wanted to use the trees extending out from the nest’s edge, jumping down like steps.

However, just as it stood at the edge of the nest, the black giant eagle suddenly nudged it with its head, directly pushing it out of the nest.

"Chirp..."

Tang Yuan was startled, but instinct allowed it to quickly flap its wings, unexpectedly gliding a short distance before landing on the ground.

Tang Yuan turned back, bewildered, looking at the black giant eagle, not understanding why it had been pushed out.

The black giant eagle stood up from the nest, then suddenly flapped its wings and swooped towards Tang Yuan.

Tang Yuan was frightened and tried to flee.

Yet, after only a few steps, it was caught up by the eagle, whose enormous claw grabbed Tang Yuan entirely.

"Whir whir whir..."

Amazingly, the black giant eagle flew into the sky with Tang Yuan.

"Chirp...chirp..."

The panicked Tang Yuan cried loudly, sounding miserable.

"Tang Yuan, what’s happening?"

Upon hearing the calls, Jiang Xuan rushed out of the bamboo house and saw the black giant eagle carrying Tang Yuan into the sky.

Jiang Xuan’s heart tightened and he quickly ran towards the Old Witch.

"Old Witch, Old Witch..."

Upon reaching the Old Witch’s residence, Jiang Xuan found the Old Witch standing at the doorway, watching as Tang Yuan was lifted higher by the black giant eagle.

"Old Witch, why did the giant eagle take Tang Yuan?"

Jiang Xuan asked anxiously beside the Old Witch.

The Old Witch smiled and said, "Don’t worry, the eagle won’t harm Tang Yuan. Its claw isn’t exerting force. Otherwise, can you imagine Tang Yuan crying so loudly?"

Prompted by the Old Witch, the worried Jiang Xuan suddenly realized.

The black giant eagle’s claws could penetrate large beasts instantly, let alone little Tang Yuan.

"Then why did the giant eagle take Tang Yuan into the sky?" Jiang Xuan asked puzzled.

The Old Witch laughed, "Tang Yuan’s feathers have filled out and its wings are strong. But since it always lived on the ground without a mother bird to teach it to fly, it could only walk."
