Chapter 260: Acknowledge the Birthright

What happened in the Moon Clan territory quickly reached the Mirage Councils, and they promptly sent the Mirage Armed Forces and Investigators to check on the situation and do what was needed to be done. Those headed by elected officers came directly from the three clans comprising Mirage, and they have been meticulously chosen to prevent any sort of unbiased ruling of any situation. They swore an oath to uphold peace and order in the Mirage, and one mistake on their part in regards to their upheld duties to the Mirage could cost them not only their lives but that as well as of their families.

When the Mirage representatives arrived at the Moon Clan Territories, Nathan greeted them with utmost respect. Ushering them forth, he let Mia and Levi handle the talking in regards to the situation.

"Arthur’s son? This is something serious..." the representative muttered. "You two will have to come with us to face the Mirage Council and prove your claim as the rightful heir. We will also need to investigate all the accusations you levied against King Marcus."

Nathan nodded, "Of course. We will comply with the procedure required of us."

"In the meantime then, we’ll put Princess Ester in charge as we verify everything," the Mirage Council’s Representative informed.

After which, Nathan and Davin went with the Mirage Officers to face the Council together with their chosen witnesses and burden of proof. Meanwhile, the Mirage Armed Forces secured the compound while the investigators began doing their job.

With the Mirage Officer’s assistance, Nathan and Davin both underwent DNA testing from an accredited and reliable hospital. Once their results came out, it was proved that the two were without a doubt, descendants of the Yue Clan. The Mirage Council then asked for the presence of the Mirage Historian, as well as for him to bring the book where what transpired during the eradication of Nathan’s family had been written.

Soon enough, the Mirage Historian Carlos arrived at the secret meeting place soon and presented the book to the Mirage Council for them to read.

"You two have been through a lot," one of the members of the Council commented. He particularly gave Nathan a look as he continued, "I believed it’s not the first time we saw you. You attended Yun’s trial, yes? We don’t have to ask why you had to disguise yourself at the time as the Moon Clan Princess’s bodyguard. You’ve worked hard to get the justice you and your family deserve."

"Uhmm, I hate to interrupt, but this is just frustrating," Davin unapologetically spoke up, giving Carlos a sharp gaze as he continued. "You guys have the Mirage Diaries all this time... A Mirage HIstorian who has the gift to witness everything put it all into a book? Why the hell did you keep your mouth shut all along while witnessing all those murders?!"

"Calm down, Davin!" Nathan quickly scolded "Yu don’t understand everything yet."

"Prince Davin, King Nathan is right. Our Mirage Historian did have the gift of sight, but he wasn’t allowed to disclose anything about those events," one of the council explained. "Doing so would’ve made him face dire consequences. Fate is already pre-ordained, and disclosing such information is liable to change it. As such, he’s only allowed to show the book during carefully vetted and valid reasons such as this. Whoever would even steal any of the Mirage Diaries will face a tremendous ordeal; one that they themselves couldn’t ever fathom."

With a shrug, Davin decided to no longer comment about the stupidity of it all. After all, being a vampire was something he already couldn’t fathom, not to mention the fact that supernatural creatures were roaming around the world alongside humans without even so much as anybody being aware of it all. Taking all of it into account, what else would make sense of the explanations he would most likely hear?

He looked at the Mirage Historian and murmured, "I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to talk to you like that. I guess your job in this group is already hard enough..."

Carlos chuckled, "That’s alright, Prince Davin. I am glad to see that you two finally made it. You’re now back home where you belong, and I warmly welcome you both." He then flashed them a knowing smile, "Anyway, I’ll be retiring soon. And as a part of the royal family in your Clan, the new Mirage Historian to replace me will visit you soon whenever he can..."

Carlos continued, "That is if he finds you guys worthy enough for him to grace you with his presence with. You see, we Mirage Historians only show ourselves to people that we could trust, just like how I never showed or even announced my existence to Marcus during his reign... Instead, I only showed myself to Princess Raine..."

"Because she’s not Marcus’s real daughter?" Davin interrupted.

Carlos smiled and said, "Because she’s a Princess worthy of my trust..."

Davin and Nathan both frowned, so Carlos promptly changed the subject. "We should grab some tea sometime, and I’ll try to answer any questions that you might have. Within reason, of course.."

After some time, the Investigators finally arrived and reported about the Undead Facility that Marcus created.

"That is unforgivable! How could he create something so foul?!"

The Council members all showed their contempt and distraught at what they just heard. They then looked at Nathan and Davin with admiration. It was clear that something was warranted. And after a few moments of deliberation, one of the Mirage Council finally spoke.

"You two did a great job in stopping Marcus from his evil intentions... We, the Council acknowledge the birthright of Davin Yue as Prince Davin, and the ruling of Nathaniel Yue as the new King of the Moon Clan."

After that final deliberation, the Council then moved on to more pressing matters such as the dispute between the Moon Clan and the Convel Society.

"It will be hard to rule both groups... Although it isn’t in the Mirage Law to be against ruling another group, I’m sure the Sun and Earth Clans will have a say about it," one of the Council members commented.

Nathan smiled and reassuringly stated, "I understand what you mean. We’re already in the process of finalizing the treaty between the two groups, and I strongly believe that it will bring future benefits to the Mirage once it goes into effect." He then confidently spoke, "I will let the Council go over the papers and approve it first before we move on to finalizing the treaty. I’ll wrap up any loose ends at the Convel Society, and I’ll make sure that it will be led by a just and honorable King once I leave."
