Chapter 212: I am the King

Levi had a wide smile on his face by the time he woke up. Looking at the time, he let out a grimace as he murmured, "I slept too long."

Seeing as he was already running late, Levi immediately got up and prepared himself to check on Mia, who he could only hope was still sleeping in her room. He would just love to have lunch with her first before they had to ask King Marcus for his permission to let them stay at the Princess’s private residence inside the Moon Clan Territory. It was for two reasons. One was he was already worried for Draki, that they had left there alone for some time now. The other was so that they could move more freely in their Boss’s private residence, allowing them to finish the rest of the tasks they still had to do.

Levi had a bright smile on his face, even casually whistling as he walked towards Mia’s room. Stopping in front of the door, he knocked.

...

...There was no answer.

Grabbing his mobile phone, Levi tried to call her, but he only got a dial tone as it kept on ringing. It was then that a servant passed by the room and saw him. She stopped by and said, "Miss Mia’s gone out."

"Gone? What do you mean?" Levi asked.

"The King called for her a while ago..." the servant relayed.

Hearing the news, Levi immediately went out and asked someone from the King’s wing for further details regarding Mia.

"The King sent her out to the Convel Society to deliver a message..." the head of the King’s security informed him.

"What?"

At the information, Levi found himself weakly mumbling out in disbelief. His knees trembled from beneath him, making him have to hold onto the table in front of him for support or else he might slump on the floor. With only a few words, he felt as if his world was about to crumble.

’Why would the King ask for Mia instead of me?’ he absentmindedly thought as he gathered his bearings. "Where’s the King?" he immediately asked the head with a glint of tears in his eyes. He was already way too worried for Mia that it felt as if his heart could stop beating at any moment.

"In his study," the head of security replied. "He’s currently in a meeting with Randall and Janus."

Without even thinking about the consequences, Levi rushed to King Marcus’s study. The security guards quickly moved to try and stop him, but the head of security intervened.

"Don’t stop him."

As such, no one dared to stop Levi since it appeared as if King Marcus had instructed for it a while ago, somehow knowing that the man would instantly make his way to him after knowing that Mia had been sent out as his messenger.

Reaching the King’s study, Levi knocked on the door and made his presence known. And fortunately for Levi, the King let him in without so much as any fanfare. Inside, King Marcus was on the sofa of the receiving area, casually sitting down on his chosen seat with Janus checking something out in his body. Levi then looked at Randall, who was currently sitting on the couch just beside King Marcus.

"Sit, Levi," the King instructed.

Obeying, Levi sat beside Randall. The man was the infamous butcher inside the Clan. Allegedly, there was nothing that the man beside him couldn’t do. Most believed that Randall was the devil incarnate himself. None knew why he was following orders from King Marcus, but even their Boss had a feeling that the man wasn’t just doing it for money. No... There was more than meets the eye with this butcher.

"I know you’re here because I sent Mia out as a messenger," King Marcus stated, his icy stare boring holes so deep into Levi’s skull that it made him shiver in fear as always.

Even so, Levie nodded, trying his best to calm down and keep his rationality intact despite how his thoughts were already going haywire. He knew that sending a messenger in person to the Convel Society was pretty much a death sentence. There was a high chance that those werewolves wouldn’t even have a second thought in killing the messenger as soon as their message had been delivered.

Seeing his servant shake in his boots, King Marcus smirked as he shook his head, casually snapping his fingers as he slid the iPad that he was holding on the table.

"Take a look..."

Grabbing the device, Levi gasped as his eyes widened in disbelief, "This... This can’t be..." It was unbelievable. Tyrone was the king all along?

"You’ve all been played like a damn fiddle," King Marcus scoffed. "Tyrone Lopez’s true identity is that of Nathaniel Yue, the current King of Convel Society. I’m sure that Raine tasked you and Mia to erase everything pertaining to Tyrone’s existence and involvement inside the Moon Clan Territory... Am I correct?"

"How..."

Levi trailed off, his mouth refusing to continue with what he wanted to say. Judging from the reports that he was reading right now, King Marcus already knew more than enough that he himself didn’t even know about. It had been on their Boss’s hunch all along but there was no valid evidence to prove her intuition was right.

"I am the King of this clan. Do you really think that you can all deceive me just like that?" King Marcus stoically stated. "My daughter still has a long way to go... And about Mia, they won’t harm her, and I believe I don’t need to explain to you why?"

Levi couldn’t even look King Marcus in the eye as he weakly whispered, "I understand, King Marcus. I apologize for our incompetence..." He inwardly sighed, feeling relieved at the thought that Tyrone would spare Mia. At least, he also knew that the Boss and Lyne would be kept safe. After all, it was not foreign to them how Tyrone and their Boss had mutual feelings with each other.

It was true that Tyrone deceived them, but he perfectly understood Tyrone’s situation as Nathan Yue, yet at the very least... Tyrone did not make any move against them during his stay inside Moon Clan Territory to think that he could easily kill the King if he wanted to but he didn’t. It was even their group that started this battle by attacking Convel Society first. Those things alone were enough for Levi to trust that Tyrone would not let anything wrong happen to Mia and the rest.

Levi gave King Marcus a quick glance as he bit his inner cheek. They were all rookies compared to King Marcus, and it was no wonder how the man managed to keep the throne for himself despite not having the royal blood in his veins. King Marcus was truly very capable and dangerous...

Meanwhile, hearing the apology, King Marcus dismissed Levi that instant. He had a frown as he grabbed his iPAD back on the table.

"You can easily kill me if you want to so why didn’t you? You’re just like your father... So soft-hearted, and that will be your doom," King Marcus spoke while staring at Nathan Yue’s photo.

On the other hand, Janus was quietly doing his regularly scheduled check-up on the King. And yet, despite his busy hands, his mind was already wandering about.

"Don’t worry. I will keep my promise to you, Janus," the King emotionlessly declared, making the doctor return to his senses. "You’ve remained loyal to me... As such, I will marry Raine to you. We will discuss more about it as soon as she’s back in our territory."

At the King’s word, Janus politely replied, "Thank you, King Marcus." After which, he finished checking up on the King’s breath rate and pulse as he commented, "Everything’s looking good, King Marcus. Your breathing might be a bit abnormal, but that’s given with the blood currently running through your veins. Call for me if you feel any adverse symptoms."

"Thank you, Janus. You may leave..." King Marcus instructed, allowing Janus to immediately leave the room. He heaved a relieved sigh after closing the door. He made the right decision to follow the King’s orders until the end.

Walking outside, Janus still found himself in a daze as he slowly traversed the hallway. He couldn’t believe that the King of the Convel Society had penetrated their territory so easily and deeply that he even managed to pose as Raine’s right-hand man. The doctor knew that Raine wasn’t someone that could be fooled so easily... A frown appeared on his forehead, the possibility of Raine planning on using the memory loss powder that she requested on Tyrone popping up in his mind.

’That would mean... She knew him?’ Janus hypothesized. ’But why would she want to delete his memory?’ he thought. It honestly felt as if his head was about to burst from all of the guessings he was doing. Still, he felt a great relief in knowing that Tyrone would forever be wiped away from the picture. Now, nothing stood in the way between him and Raine.
