Chapter 977: Chapter 1003: Pushed to the Edge

"No, you can’t." One decisively refused.

He was only considering how to avoid Song Ze’s surveillance and safely get her out.

"You tell me where the exit is, and I can run out on my own. Otherwise, if he keeps watching, you won’t be able to leave, and neither will I. Besides, if you go out and kill him, then come back to rescue me, it’s all the same." Ye Ranran couldn’t make sense of the intricacies, but she saw that he had been running with her inside for so long without being able to escape.

Song Ze must have been watching from a dark place.

One held on to her hand, not letting go.

"Is there really no better way now?" Ye Ranran said lightly.

"Madam, I’ll take him down now." One drew the gun he had on him.

One was personally trained by Jun Mochan. His marksmanship wasn’t as good as Jun Mochan’s, but it wasn’t far off either.

Song Ze came alone, and after fighting with One for a while, he quickly became overwhelmed.

"Madam, run that way." One saw no one around, making sure Song Ze didn’t bring any men with him, and there were no ambushes outside. His heart finally settled down.

"Where are you going? Let’s go together." Ye Ranran said.

One shook his head: "I’m going to check if he’s dead. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. You just be careful."

The thick smoke around them grew denser, and Ye Ranran could no longer see One’s face clearly. Just as she was about to say something, the smoke got into her mouth, causing her to cough violently.

"Madam, go." One pushed her hard.

Don’t blame him for not taking her out—he just wanted to clear the obstacles in their path.

Ye Ranran reached out to grab something, but all she got was a grasp of thick fog. With the creaking sound of trees about to fall next to her, she turned and ran outside.

The road wasn’t very long, yet she seemed to run for a very long time. In the end, she was practically crawling out.

She waited outside for a very long time, so long that the last glimmer of light disappeared, but she didn’t see One come out.

She crawled back in, moved the stones away, avoided the fire that hadn’t totally gone out, and walked inside cautiously.

Nothing, there was nothing.

She had turned over the entire area but still found nothing.

When Jun Mochan arrived, he saw Ye Ranran frantically searching for something.

Her hair was disheveled, her face grimy, and her once crimson clothes were covered in dust. Her hands were rummaging through the rubble.

"Ranran, what happened to you?" Jun Mochan wrapped his arms around her waist, pulled slightly, and held her in his embrace.

Ye Ranran’s gaze was a bit hollow, and it wasn’t until Jun Mochan patted her face that she came back to her senses.

"One, One is still inside, hurry and let someone dig him out, will you?" Ye Ranran clung tightly to Jun Mochan’s hand.

"Alright, don’t worry, it’s going to be okay," Jun Mochan comforted her.

"No, it’s not okay, it’s because of me saving me... I should have listened to you and not come out." Regret filled Ye Ranran’s eyes.

How much better would it have been if she hadn’t come out? Why did she still come out?

"It’s not your fault." The Song Family was desperate and resorted to drastic measures against her.

Even if they hadn’t acted today, they would have come some other day.

One was found in the ruins, having been shot twice, once in the knee and once just below the heart.

His eyes were tightly closed, lying in a pool of blood.

He probably passed out while escaping.

After getting him bandaged up, Jun Mochan ordered him to be taken back.

"Will he be okay?" Ye Ranran’s usually bright eyes grew dim, her voice so faint it was like a feather brushing Jun Mochan’s heart.

His heart twinged as if it was being tightly wound. He reached over her shoulder and embraced her: "Ranran, since you married me, you have to face all of this."
