Chapter 976: Chapter 1002: A Series of Schemes
Song Ze picked up the coat on the chair, "I’m naturally leaving. Thanks for taking care of me these days. I guess I owe you one now."
Gu Yan didn’t try to stop him, her beautiful face breaking into a smile as bright as summer flowers, "Then will you ask me out next time?"
"Mhm." Song Ze walked out without looking back.
"Let me walk you out." Gu Yan thought about it and still followed him.
"No need." Song Ze ruthlessly rejected her kindness, clearly not wanting to owe her too much, or perhaps not wanting to get too involved with her.
Gu Yan, competitive as ever, watched the direction in which Song Ze left with a determined gaze.
The things she, Gu Yan, set her sights on have never been out of reach.
When the city government building caught fire, Jun Mochan and Zhou Xian had already left, he tasked Zhou Xian with handling the fire while he took care of other matters.
Having suffered such a loss at the hands of the Song family, he had to get revenge, didn’t he?
As Ye Ranran was feeling restless, her phone rang.
"Are you alright? Where are you now?" Before Jun Mochan could speak, Ye Ranran had already asked anxiously.
A fleeting light passed through Jun Mochan’s eyes like the first ray of light before sunrise, seemingly gentle but actually intense, "I’m fine, you go back home now and wait for me there, don’t worry, I’m okay."
"Okay." Ye Ranran’s heart settled.
"I’ll send One over." Ye Ranran glanced at One who was driving.
"No need, I have people here." He obviously had more than just One at his disposal.
Knowing he was safe, Ye Ranran finally calmed down and did not refuse Jun Mochan’s suggestion.
Just as she got back to Jun’s home, she received a phone call from Mother Huo.
Thinking of the chaos at the Huo Family, Ye Ranran felt a bit of a headache and could only make another trip there.
But just as the car was about halfway there, there was a sound of an explosion nearby, and Ye Ranran’s ears endured a moment of deafness.
She didn’t know what happened next, but the trees beside her crashed onto the car roof, and the vehicle shuddered violently, causing Ye Ranran’s head to hit the car door.
She almost hit the glass.
"Madam." One dragged Ye Ranran out with urgency.
"What’s happening?" Ye Ranran looked around in panic.
"We’ve been targeted, madam, I’ll get you out of here." Without any hesitation, One grabbed Ye Ranran’s shoulder and ran.
This was a green belt, not in the city center, with few houses around, and the closest was an unfinished building project.
One led Ye Ranran, weaving through trees and hopping over stones.
Ye Ranran stumbled after him, her black hair thrown back, her trench coat billowing, the vivid color standing out amid the dust.
Song Ze watched from a high point using binoculars, his lips curving into a shallow smile, the firearm in his hand spinning, and he shot accurately, hitting One’s hand.
Blood, flowing from the center of One’s palm to Ye Ranran’s hand, dripped into the rubble, blossoming like vibrant red flowers.
The fire, ignited from somewhere unknown, began to spread around them.
One stopped running and looked in a certain direction.
Song Ze gave him a nod, standing high above, watching their desperate run.
"Is there a way to get him down?" Ye Ranran asked.
The fire coated her forehead with a sheen of sweat, which she casually wiped with a sleeve, turning her pale fair face to gray.
"I thought we should first find our way out." One looked around and said.
"Let’s split up. You go and get him down. We’re too conspicuous as a pair, and besides, he’s mainly after me." Ye Ranran spoke with difficulty.
