Chapter 957: Chapter 963: Knowing How to Save Oneself

As soon as she opened her mouth, she swallowed several gulps of dirty water.

But in the river, she didn’t feel much anymore.

Song Ze didn’t answer her, just dragged Ye Ranran into the water.

Ye Ranran struggled, but she couldn’t overcome Song Ze.

Later, her consciousness slowly blurred, until the last glimmer of light disappeared.

Eventually, it was the cold that woke Ye Ranran up.

"Awake? Eat a steamed bun," Song Ze tossed a steamed bun to Ye Ranran.

Ye Ranran found herself lying in a grassy area among some trees, to be precise. There were no street lights nearby, only the faint moonlight streaming through the gaps in the leaves.

Song Ze was sitting beside her, staring intently ahead without blinking.

Ye Ranran took the steamed bun he had casually thrown aside and swallowed it with difficulty.

Before she could finish the steamed bun, the smell of blood wafted over, followed by the sound of a body hitting the ground.

Song Ze’s shoulder had been shot, and the person who shot him had been dealt with by Song Ze.

"If you had that ability all along, why bother running away here?" Ye Ranran’s teeth chattered, her words coming out in stutters.

It was cold, the early spring river water was still very cold.

She was lucky not to have frozen to death.

"What do you know? With so many people just now, not running would mean waiting for death," Song Ze said irritably.

"You left One there just to take bullets for you?" Ye Ranran realized belatedly.

"What else? Actually, he intended to take you away from the beginning, but he was too quick to act, giving me an opportunity." One’s speed in drawing his gun was very fast, all to carve a bloody path for her escape.

Unfortunately, he underestimated the number and strength of his opponents.

"Despicable," Ye Ranran slapped him.

Song Ze grabbed her hand: "Do you not want this hand anymore?"

"Is it useless now?" Ye Ranran’s face was full of defiant pride.

Song Ze was about to exert force when pain shot through his shoulder again; the person on the ground wasn’t completely dead.

Now he had no more energy to deal with Ye Ranran’s trouble.

Ye Ranran, fearing someone else might shoot her too, didn’t dare to move, curling up and trembling.

After waiting an hour, when Ye Ranran felt like she was going to freeze to death and there was still no movement nearby, she confirmed she was safe.

She kicked Song Ze: "Not dead, right?"

No response.

She kicked him again: "Dead?"

Still no response.

Ye Ranran crouched down, placed her hand near Song Ze’s nose, and noticed a weak breath, unsure of what expression to make.

She wouldn’t bandage him—not because she lacked materials and couldn’t do it with bare hands, but also because she wasn’t that kind.

"I’ll drag you out; if you die, so be it, if not, then you’re saved," Ye Ranran said dragging him forward.

With her small body, she struggled to step forward, not caring if Song Ze would wake up from the pain as his back scraped against the ground.

Ye Ranran herself hardly had any strength left. After a few steps, she couldn’t walk anymore.

Her feet felt as heavy as lead, and her mind wasn’t functioning well.

She put the design notebook into the laptop bag and then hung the laptop bag over Song Ze’s neck.

Her hands went under Song Ze’s armpits, avoiding his wound, and with clenched teeth, she dragged him forward.

When she really couldn’t walk anymore, she rested for two minutes.

Cold sweat covered her forehead; she felt scorching hot and bone-chillingly cold at the same time, miserable in her damp clothes, which clung to her body and ushered the chill right to her bones with every gust of wind.

She took out her phone, intending to call Jun Mochan, but the phone had water damage.

Luckily, she hadn’t lost her bracelet. She just didn’t know if it was of any use. Why hadn’t Jun Mochan found her after all this time?

Fortunately, Ye Ranran wasn’t one to wallow in self-pity; she had always known how to save herself.
