Chapter 931: Chapter 928: A Bit Troublesome

Glancing at the time, it was already noon. Huo’s mother had called several times, and she had promised to join her for lunch.

Ye Ranran tidied up briefly and then left.

In the car, the bored Ye Ranran suddenly thought of something.

She poked her head forward and poked One on the shoulder with her finger, "I have something to tell you."

"Please go ahead, madam." One focused on driving.

"That is, do you have someone you like?"

The car came to a sudden stop, nearly causing the vehicle behind to collide into them.

"What are you doing?" the driver behind shouted, sticking his head out of the window.

One restarted the car, "During driving, madam, please don’t joke with me."

"Who’s joking with you? I’m serious. Look, you’re of age, and if you don’t have anyone suitable, maybe I could help you find someone reliable."

"Thank you, madam, but that’s not necessary." One coldly refused.

"Alright then." Seeing his lack of interest, Ye Ranran retracted her head.

Halfway through the ride, she leaned forward again: "I’m being serious; do you really not need it? A beauty, you know."

In this day and age, were there still men who didn’t like beautiful women? It made no sense.

He wasn’t gay.

"Madam." One sounded a bit helpless.

"Fine, let’s just pretend I was talking nonsense and that this conversation never happened, okay?" Ye Ranran sat back down.

"We’ve finally arrived; the food has probably gotten cold." As soon as Ye Ranran got out of the car, Huo’s mother came to greet her.

Her warmth took Ye Ranran by surprise.

Apart from Jun Mochan, those who were this friendly to her usually had an ulterior motive.

Ye Ranran forced herself to push away those thoughts, smiling at Huo’s mother, "Mom, you didn’t have to wait for me; you could’ve eaten if you were hungry."

"I don’t feel like eating alone; I asked you to come and keep me company. I hope I didn’t disturb you?"

"What are you talking about, mom." Ye Ranran’s smile was faultless.

"Ranran, I am your mother now. You don’t have to smile like that in front of me," Huo’s mother patted her hand.

Ye Ranran’s smile slightly faded, her eyes crinkling, her long lashes hiding the expression in her eyes, "I know."

She knew she was now her mother-in-law, and that she should address her as mom.

Huo’s mother sighed, saying nothing further.

Even with only Huo’s mother at home, the food was still plentiful.

"Eat up." Huo’s mother served Ye Ranran a large piece of fish.

Ye Ranran was not very fond of fish; not because she disliked it, but because fish had bones, which could prick you if you weren’t careful.

"What’s wrong? Don’t you like it?" Seeing Ye Ranran frown, Huo’s mother cautiously asked.

Ye Ranran shook her head, "No, it’s not that. I quite like it; it’s just a bit troublesome."

Originally, Ye Ranran hadn’t intended to say that last part, but seeing Huo’s mother about to serve her another piece, she decisively added it.

"Oh, I see, that’s true. Maybe you shouldn’t eat it then." Huo’s mother was also worried she might accidentally get a bone stuck in her throat.

If that happened, Jun Mochan would surely blame her.

"A little bit is okay; don’t worry, mom." Ye Ranran carefully picked out the bones from the fish.

During this pleasant moment, Huo’s father entered the house, with Xia Yi accompanying him.

The smile on Huo’s mother’s face slowly faded as she watched the two men come in.

Noticing something was off, Ye Ranran turned her head and saw Huo’s father and Xia Yi, her own brow furrowing.

It seemed Huo’s father truly disliked Huo’s mother. He could have come at any other time, but he chose to do so during mealtime, wasn’t this meant to upset Huo’s mother?
