Chapter 855: Chapter 852: Everyone is a Suspect

"Why the chatter? If you stand there and take a bullet from me, I’ll let her go, how about that?"

"Okay," Huo Yi answered without hesitation.

Turning his head, he looked deeply at Ye Ranran, as if to convey a message.

Ye Ranran didn’t speak; she just smiled, her eyes clear as water, so translucent they held no emotion.

Wen Liangshan couldn’t help but stare at her more, thinking she either had a heart of stone or she didn’t care about Huo Yi at all.

The gun that was originally aimed at Huo Yi’s head was now pointed at his right shoulder.

Blood blossomed like a mountain camellia on Huo Yi’s shoulder.

Ye Ranran remained expressionless, watching as if she were watching a play.

Huo Yi swayed a bit but quickly steadied himself; he looked determinedly at Ye Ranran, "Now, can you let her go?"

True to his word, Wen Liangshan released Ye Ranran. She blew the smoke from the gun and thanked Ye Ranran, "Thank you for helping me today."

"Aren’t you here to take his life? Why let him go?" Ye Ranran asked, puzzled as she looked at Wen Liangshan.

"I disdain winning without a fight; it feels too unaccomplished," Wen Liangshan said haughtily.

She was indeed a proud woman.

Ye Ranran wanted to say more, but Wen Liangshan waved her off, "I have other things to attend to. I’m leaving now."

She leaped from the window and disappeared in front of Ye Ranran.

Jun Mochan came in through the door; his eyes swept around and rested on Ye Ranran, "Are you okay?"

"I’m fine. The one injured is the elder one," Ye Ranran tilted her gaze towards the wound on Huo Yi.

Jun Mochan just glanced at it expressionlessly, "Oh."

Just like that, it was over.

"Are you done watching? Let’s go home," Jun Mochan pulled Ye Ranran by the shoulders.

He didn’t ask what had happened, nor did he inquire how Huo Yi got the gunshot wound.

But it was this aloofness that somewhat unsettled Ye Ranran.

As they were leaving the hospital, and Ye Ranran was about to get into the car, someone ran from the side.

Jun Mochan held Ye Ranran, dodging away.

The person crashed into a flower pot nearby and fell to the ground.

Face down, wearing a white patient’s gown, Ye Ranran guessed he must be a patient from the hospital who had hurried too much without watching his step.

She wanted to go forward and help him up, but Jun Mochan stopped her, "Don’t move; I’ll call someone over."

"Don’t be overly cautious," Ye Ranran smiled, "Where could there be so many people out to harm me?"

"Being cautious is always good," Jun Mochan held her firmly.

He dared not speak of how he had endured during the days she was missing; he also couldn’t bear thinking about what he would do if she disappeared again.

Before Jun Mochan could call someone, the person stood up from the ground.

"Sister, sister," he didn’t mind the dust and wound on him as he walked towards Ye Ranran again.

His hair was a bit long, covering his eyes which made Ye Ranran momentarily unable to recognize him by his looks, but the voice was still familiar.

"Ah Ze?" she looked at him in disbelief.

He had lost a lot of weight; the patient gown hung loosely on him, puffing out with the wind, which would have looked somewhat ethereal in the past.

Now disheveled, all he radiated was shabbiness.

"What happened to you?" Ye Ranran scrutinized him, her brows furrowed enough to trap flies.

She couldn’t say she had fattened him up, but he used to be lively; now he looked neither human nor ghostly. Who had abused him like this?
