Chapter 548: Chapter 546: She Will Pay It Back_1
Luo Qi’s blood stilled in her veins, and she stood dumbly, looking at Qingli, crushed by a chair.
In a cruel twist of irony, Ah Chuan showed up on cue.
He swooped down to scoop up Qingli from the ground and started running towards the exit.
Luo Qi had never seen Ah Chuan behave this way before.
In fact, the Ah Chuan she had encountered lately was a stranger to her.
He didn’t speak a word to her from the moment he entered until he left, but that last look he gave her shattered what was left of her desolate heart.
Leaving not even a splinter behind.
She slowly crouched down, hugging herself.
It’s so cold, she thought. Very cold indeed.
Luo Qi didn’t know what had happened, but when she woke up again, she found herself in a hospital.
"Miss, you fainted," said the doctor who had been checking on her. Seeing her confused look, the doctor explained, lifting his head to look at her before looking back down to continue his work.
"You were brought here by a waiter from the restaurant." The doctor noticed Luo Qi’s continued confusion and carried on with his explanation.
"You’ve been pregnant for four weeks. However, it seems you fainted because your blood sugar was too low and you haven’t been getting enough rest. Make sure to take better care of yourself in the future; there’s nothing too serious otherwise." The doctor had finished his examination and was now informing Luo Qi of the results as was routine.
Pregnant? Luo Qi instinctually reached for her stomach. Was there a tiny life growing inside her?
Luo Qi walked out of her room dazed, only to be greeted with a sight she wished she could unsee.
Qingli, with a nurse’s assistance, was just stepping out of her room. Before the nurse had a chance to completely step aside, Ah Chuan stepped forward to support her.
In contrast to Luo Qi’s cold loneliness, Qingli’s side bustled with energy and warmth.
Perhaps Luo Qi’s gaze had drawn attention, as people from that side turned to look at her.
For some reason, Luo Qi quickly put away her pregnancy test results.
She didn’t want to meet Ah Chuan’s gaze, so she looked up and around.
The characters for ’gynecology’ abruptly came into focus.
So, this is a gynecology ward, Luo Qi thought with a hint of dark amusement.
"Why are you here? You want me to die, don’t you?" Qingli suddenly pushed the nurse aside and ran towards Luo Qi.
Luo Qi raised her foot and firmly blocked Qingli, before harshly kicking her away.
They said she was cruel, right? They said she was to blame, didn’t they? If all of it was already decided, why not do something to justify the blame?
With Ah Chuan present, Qingli fell right into his solid embrace, preventing her from hitting the ground.
"Xiao Qi, apologize," said Ah Chuan, looking at Luo Qi rather displeased.
"Do you believe that I did all this?" Luo Qi locked eyes with him, hoping to find a shred of trust within.
Even a tiny bit would be enough for her.
"You just got physical with her, how am I supposed to trust you? Plus, Qingli just had a miscarriage. Because of you, she lost her baby," Ah Chuan’s guilt flashed across his eyes.
All he wanted was to help the lovely lady from his memories. Why could she not understand that?
Ah Chuan, having never experienced love, did not know what mattered most in a relationship.
He just reacted in a manner that felt right to him, as when he previously promised to be responsible for Luo Qi, and now as he comforted Qingli.
He believed that following one’s heart was the best way to live without regrets.
"She was pregnant!" Luo Qi repeated the revelation flatly.
She should have suspected it. The puddle of blood on the floor was a good hint, wasn’t it?
"Don’t worry, I’ll make it up to her. I’ll repay the debt I owe," she said.
With those words, Luo Qi walked away, moving so quickly it was as if she was being chased by ghosts.
