Chapter 507: Chapter 506: Accidental or Deliberate_1
In other words, she didn’t want to die at all; she was just embarrassed and looking for a way out.
"Let’s go, it’s raining." Father Huo dragged Mother Huo away.
After they left, Xia Shi came out from the bushes. She wanted to call Xia Jingtian to pick her up.
But she realized that her phone wasn’t on her. Her bag and other belongings were still with Mother Huo.
Just as Xia Shi was at a loss, a car pulled up in front of her.
"Hello, beautiful lady." Wen Zhi peered out from the vehicle and scanned her with a curious look, "Enjoying some streaking?"
"Were you following me?"
Wen Zhi shrugged, looking entirely innocent, "I just left from a friend’s place, and happened upon you."
Xia Shi looked suspicious. If her expression could be translated into words, it would read ’I don’t believe you’.
"It’s fine if you don’t believe me. I was just thinking of giving you a lift. I guess you don’t need it. Enjoy then."
Before Wen Zhi could finish his sentence, Xia Shi pulled open the door and got in the car, "Drive."
Wen Zhi obediently stepped on the gas. Not wearing a seatbelt, Xia Shi tipped forward due to inertia.
Her body crashed heavily against the back of the seat, putting her and Wen Zhi in close contact, separated only by the seat.
"You did that on purpose, didn’t you?" Xia Shi gripped her collar tightly.
Her abrupt movement had exposed a generous amount of skin. She felt relieved that she was sitting in the back where Wen Zhi couldn’t see her.
Otherwise, she would literally have gone streaking in front of him.
She didn’t know that Wen Zhi had silently taken in her appearance from the corner of his eye.
He knew Xia Shi had a great figure, but when he saw it for himself, he was even more astonished.
She was better than he had imagined, so he started to consider something initially unthinkable, because he felt that it might be more advantageous for their alliance.
"Didn’t you tell me to drive? I thought you wanted to leave here quickly." Wen Zhi’s calm voice carried a serious tone.
Xia Shi huffed.
A heavy rain was falling, the sky was pitch black with no glimmer of light, and the thick clouds overhead carried a suffocating pressure.
The dim yellow light from the street lamps was vague in the rain, and the car’s headlights could only illuminate a limited stretch of the road.
Inside the car, it was pitch black, Xia Shi could barely make out Wen Zhi’s figure.
Perhaps guilt had gotten the best of her, but Xia Shi felt a touch of fear.
"Turn on the lights," Xia Shi said.
Wen Zhi turned on the car lights, "I had no idea. You’re such a scaredy-cat."
Xia Shi said nothing, just held onto her clothes tightly. It was either the air conditioning was too cold, or she was just feeling chilly.
Seeing her vulnerable figure, Wen Zhi wanted nothing more than to hold her close and show her some tender loving care.
Xia Shi was oblivious to Wen Zhi’s thoughts, assuming he was taking her to a shopping mall. But when they arrived and parked, she realized he had taken her to a hotel.
"What are you up to?" Xia Shi questioned, looking ready to slap him.
"With you looking like this, where can you go?" Wen Zhi casually asked as he watched her.
"Well, to the mall of course!"
"Miss, have you checked the time? The malls are already closed. Or would you prefer to go home in this state?"
Xia Shi fell silent.
"Perhaps it’s best if you stay here for the night. I’ll go reserve a room for you now, then get you some sleepwear," Wen Zhi suggested with uncommon politeness.
"Politeness when unneeded, must be hiding ill or thieving intent. What are you up to?" Xia Shi was not grateful for his considerate service, but instead became even more suspicious.
’Naturally, I want you,’ Wen Zhi thought, but on the outside, he responded with a wry smile, "I’m currently in need of your help. Why else would I do this?"
