Chapter 441: Chapter 440: Are You Sick? _1
When Ye Ranran turned her head, she saw a grim-faced Huo Yi, his entire aura was frighteningly severe more than ever before.
Behind Huo Yi, stood Jun Mochan.
His hands were tucked into his pockets, looking at her with a gentle yet worried gaze.
Instantly, the last bit of grievance Ye Ranran felt seemed to evaporate.
"She hasn’t done anything to you right?" Jun Mochan approached her, scrutinizing her up and down, not missing a single minor detail.
Ye Ranran shook her head, resting her head on his chest: "To this day, except for you, no one can hurt me."
This statement was an indirect confession of her feelings.
When one falls in love, they willingly provide the other with the power to hurt them.
"Ah Yi, listen to me." Xu Zi on the side reached out to grab Huo Yi’s hand.
Huo Yi shook her off, his face filled with outrage, glaring at her like he was about to kill: "I heard everything, Xu Zi, so it was all your plot from the beginning."
"Husband, let’s go. It’s none of our business what happens in other’s families."
Ye Ranran didn’t want to hear any more, nor did she want to see the two of them any longer.
Who Huo Yi loves, hates, trusts, cares for, had long since become irrelevant to her.
The once utterly dependent older brother only existed now in her memory.
She might as well consider him dead. Like her mother. And bury them deep within her mind.
The next day, Ye Ranran still took Jun Mochan’s car to work.
"I’ll pick you up after work?"
"Mhm," Ye Ranran waved at him.
After the car pulled into the J.C. parking lot, Ye Ranran turned around, and not surprisingly, bumped into a solid wall of flesh.
Looking up, she saw Huo Yi’s stern face, it seemed like he didn’t get much rest the night before.
There was stubble on his chin and dark circles under his eyes.
Ye Ranran quickly glanced at him and went in another direction, but for each step she took to the left, Huo Yi mirrored her.
When she took a step to the right, he stepped to the right as well.
"What do you want?" Ye Ranran asked, not in the best of moods.
"There’s something I need to talk to you about." Huo Yi caught her and lead her to a nearby café.
Ye Ranran was forced to match his pace.
After he brought Ye Ranran to the cafe and pushed her up against a table, Huo Yi sat across from her.
He kept quiet, just gazing at her with a stupid look in his eyes.
"If you have something to say, say it quickly. I’m very busy." Ye Ranran impatiently checked the time.
"I’m gonna divorce Xu Zi."
Ye Ranran found this hilarious: "And then what?"
Why did these people feel the need to inform her of their divorces? Gao Han and now Huo Yi?
It made it seem like she was the homewrecker, the third wheel intentionally breaking up their families, their relationships.
When in reality, she was the one being cheated on.
"I’m sorry. I’m really sorry about what happened before." Huo Yi grabbed her hand, apologizing.
The truth was too cruel, so cruel that he couldn’t accept it.
Jun Mochan must have known about it a long time ago. That’s why he spoke with such conviction, that he would regret it someday.
Indeed, he had come to regret it, but it was too late now.
"I accept your apology, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be going now." Ye Ranran stood up to leave.
Suddenly, Huo Yi pulled her into his arms.
Ye Ranran struggled: "Huo Yi, what are you doing? I’m your brother’s wife."
"I won’t do anything. I just want to hold you for a bit." Huo Yi tightened his arms around her.
"Are you guys sick or something?"
What’s with them always wanting to hold her? Were they trying to get an advantage?
"Ranran, Ranran." Huo Yi’s chin gently brushed against her neck, he called her name in a lingering, desolate tone.
Ye Ranran abruptly shoved him away, wiping her neck forcefully as if something dirty had been left on it.
