Chapter 1342: Chapter 1265: Punished by Kneeling

Returning home, Fan Rou’s mother immediately made Fan Rou kneel in the garden.

Coming from a military family, strict discipline such as standing or kneeling punishments are common, although they are generally more gentle on girls.

At least Fan Mei and Fan Li have never experienced it, but Fan Rou, at home nobody truly acknowledged her; kneeling was considered a lighter punishment.

Fan Mei and Fan Li stood in front of Fan Rou, watching her like spectators watching a clown: "How does it feel? Kneeling isn’t too bad, right?"

Underneath her knees were fine grains of sand that embedded into her skin causing immense pain, even without moving.

Yet, Fan Rou, as if unfazed, retained her composure while automatically blocking out the annoying chatter of the two beside her.

"Have you turned mute?" Fan Mei pinched Fan Rou harshly.

Fan Rou’s back remained straight.

She knew that speaking up now would only attract more malice from them, better to stay silent and wait for them to lose interest and leave.

"Hey, playing deaf and dumb," Fan Li pushed her fiercely.

Fan Rou stumbled forward, her hands hitting the ground to stabilize herself and avoid her face hitting the sand narrowly.

This response only fueled more disdain from Fan Mei and Fan Li. Exchanging a glance, they coordinated their actions—one pushed while the other kicked.

Finally, Fan Rou was kicked down onto the ground, a large footprint stamped across her back.

Fan Rou lay there as if insensate on the sandy ground.

Yet Fan Li, still not satisfied, pressed her head down forcefully into the sand, "For opposing my sister, for framing my sister."

"Be smarter next time, don’t be so arrogant thinking we wouldn’t dare to touch you just because you’ve clung onto Ye Ranran," Fan Mei added another kick.

She wasn’t injured only because Song Yue cushioned her fall; otherwise, her back might have been broken.

This person was truly vicious, using such ruthless tactics from the start.

This was an attempt to ruin her for the rest of her life.

After dealing with Fan Rou, Fan Mei and Fan Li left together.

They exited by stepping over Fan Rou’s back.

Fan Rou lay on the ground for a long while and didn’t get up until their footsteps had faded. Only then did she struggle to straighten her back and continue kneeling.

Her face was covered with sand, some grains even embedding into her skin.

Her eyes harbored a profound hatred as she watched them leave—an overly intense hatred that cast a sinister pall over her expression.

Gu Heng came out and saw Fan Rou kneeling alone there, the moonlight casting over her not softening but adding a sense of desolation.

She knelt there quietly, like a lone statue, yet so desolately touchful.

"What are you doing kneeling here?" Gu Heng approached her.

Fan Rou didn’t respond; she even hoped he would leave soon.

She was already humiliated enough and didn’t want to lose the last of her dignity in front of him.

"Get up," Gu Heng tried to pull her up.

"Let go," Fan Rou shook off his hand: "Go away, leave me alone."

"What happened? Speak up and we can solve it together. What’s the use of kneeling here?" Gu Heng patiently persuaded.

Fan Rou smiled, her smile under the moonlight was chillingly cold: "I made a mistake and was punished to kneel, does that suffice for you to leave?"

"What kind of mistake warrants you to kneel here?" Gu Heng frowned, his creased brow expressing his displeasure.

Fan Rou’s brow hinted at impatience: "Do you need to meddle?"

He doesn’t even like her, so why bother with her? Misunderstandings could easily arise from this, right?
