Chapter 1289: Chapter 1211: Life is Like a Play

"Ah." Song Yue screamed in pain as she struggled to shake the dog off, but the dog bit down hard, refusing to let go no matter how much she flailed.

"Pity the dog’s life."

No sooner had the voice faded than the person accompanying Song Yue pulled out a gun and put the dog down with one shot.

Well, now there’s no saving it.

"I poisoned that dog," One suddenly said.

"Was it disfiguring poison?" Ye Ranran was excited.

"More like crippling for the feet," One frowned.

"Can we get some that disfigures next time?" She had found Song Yue’s face bothersome for a long time.

"There will be a chance next time," One watched as Song Yue was helped out of the detention center.

After those people left, Ye Ranran got out of the car again.

She hadn’t walked far when her phone rang, Shen Yuzhe calling.

This guy must be hurrying her back. Ye Ranran, very willfully, hung up and then turned off her phone.

Now the world was peaceful, and she could get on with her business properly.

Zhou Xian sat quietly on the bed, like an ascetic, motionless.

Ye Ranran stood in front of him.

"Ranran, you shouldn’t have come," Zhou Xian said.

"Are you blaming me?" Ye Ranran sat down next to him, maintaining a distance between two people.

Neither too close nor too distant, the space was just right.

"Yes," Zhou Xian nodded.

Seeing her so thin she could be blown away by the wind, yet she still wanted to run around—why bother?

"Is my husband planning to sacrifice you?" Ye Ranran asked bluntly.

"It’s not like that," Zhou Xian shook his head, but was unwilling to elaborate.

Plans had to be meticulous; to execute successfully meant keeping tight-lipped. A slight carelessness could lead to problems.

Ye Ranran looked around; the environment was so simple that aside from a bed, there was nothing else, and here, without freedom, even speaking was monitored.

Was he truly accustomed to this?

"Since Ranran is here, how about we put on a play together?" Zhou Xian suddenly leaned toward Ye Ranran, placing his hand on her shoulder and pushing her down.

"Hit me," Zhou Xian whispered in Ye Ranran’s ear.

Couldn’t these people give a heads up? Ye Ranran rolled her eyes, but still struggled as instructed.

"Hug me," Zhou Xian said.

"Are you sick?" Ye Ranran slapped him hard.

Zhou Xian’s face immediately turned red.

"It’s quite lively in here, huh?"

Zhou Xian was still half-pressing Ye Ranran down, he whispered in her ear, "The target is him."

Ye Ranran’s thoughts shifted swiftly; she pushed hard with both hands, shoving Zhou Xian to the side, her eyes welling up with tears, full of hatred: "I came to see you out of kindness, and this is how you treat me?"

Zhou Xian touched his face: "Your husband did this to me, how else should I treat you?"

"He is him, I am me. You can’t deal with him, so you take it out on me? What kind of hero is that?" Ye Ranran coldly accused.

"I’m indeed no hero; otherwise, I wouldn’t have been deceived by your husband," Zhou Xian retorted sarcastically.

Ye Ranran laughed, a mocking sneer: "That just shows your lack of ability, and you deserve to be duped."

Zhou Xian: "..."

After speaking, Ye Ranran turned to Song Jade: "Had enough of the show?"

Song Jade nodded: "Indeed, it’s been quite the spectacle, even more so than I imagined."

He glanced outside the door, probably thinking Ye Ranran wanted to discuss something with Zhou Xian, so he sent the bodyguards outside.

Little did he expect, too clever for his own good, he ended up on the losing end.

If Jun Mochan knew his darling wife had been taken advantage of, who knows if he could still sit still.
