Chapter 1242: Chapter 1165: Want to Give a Hug
She had intended to immediately go find Jun Mochan or head to the company, but after some thought, she hadn’t seen the baby for a long time and decided to go home first and then visit the baby.
She thought about calling the driver, but seeing that there were cars at the gate, she gave up on that idea.
There were two cars, a Bentley and an Audi. Ye Ranran chose the Audi sports car.
She opened the convertible top, then started the car, pressed the gas pedal, and drove away.
Huo Yi sat in the living room, playing with the little one in the cradle. He didn’t know if it was because he had gotten a tan, but he looked fiercer. He had just stretched out his finger, hadn’t even touched him yet, when the child started crying.
Ye Ranran had just reached the doorway when she heard the child’s heart-wrenching cries. She hurried forward a few steps, lifted the child out, and glared at Huo Yi, "What did you do?"
"I—I was just trying to soothe him, and he started crying." Huo Yi explained in a hurry.
Seeing his anxious face, Ye Ranran didn’t scold him further, just glared at him.
"Baby, don’t cry, don’t cry," Ye Ranran said softly while gently patting his back.
To her surprise, he cried even louder. Ye Ranran felt pretty embarrassed.
It had only been a month since they had last seen each other, and he no longer recognized her, his own mother—an ungrateful brat indeed.
"Why don’t you just put him back?" Huo Yi suggested, pointing to the cradle.
Ye Ranran could only put the child down. She gently swayed the cradle, not looking at Huo Yi, using it to hide her own embarrassment.
Huo Yi gazed at her, noting her pale complexion, and asked tentatively, "Are you sick? Why do you look so awful?"
"Do I look that bad?" Ye Ranran touched her face. "I feel okay today."
"What’s wrong with you? Are you really sick? Why haven’t I heard Jun Mochan mention it?"
"Um, I was sick, but I’m getting better today," Ye Ranran nodded.
"Make sure to rest," Huo Yi advised, but his expression and tone were somewhat stiff.
Ye Ranran just lifted her lips slightly, "Mm."
The child was still crying ceaselessly, and Ye Ranran was becoming a bit helpless. This couldn’t go on.
"Oh my, what’s going on, crying so loudly," Huo’s mother came downstairs, holding a bottle of prepared formula.
She popped the bottle’s nipple into the child’s mouth and then picked him up; the child immediately stopped crying.
"Mom," Ye Ranran felt a bit ashamed.
Since the child’s birth, she hadn’t spent much time caring for him.
Huo’s mother looked at her, her eyes a bit strange—with panic and surprise, although these expressions flashed by rapidly, Ye Ranran still caught them quickly.
"Mom, may I hold the child?" Ye Ranran stretched out her hands tentatively.
Huo’s mother immediately held the child tighter, looking at the shrinking pupils of Ye Ranran. Then she relaxed slightly, "Your illness isn’t over yet. When it’s better, you can hold him as long as you want."
"I won’t breastfeed, I just want to hold him. It won’t infect the child," Ye Ranran said, rubbing her hands.
"No," Huo’s mother refused flatly.
"Mom, just let her hold him for a bit, what’s the harm in that?" Huo Yi couldn’t stand it anymore.
"What do you know? She’s been sick for so long, look how frail she is. What if she can’t hold him steady?
"I’ll be very careful, I definitely won’t drop him. Please, let me hold him for a bit?" Ye Ranran stretched out her hand, wanting to take the child.
Huo Yi directly snatched the child from Huo’s mother’s arms and placed him in Ye Ranran’s arms, "Go ahead and hold him."
Ye Ranran held him carefully, terrified of dropping him. The child squinted at her, as if to smile at her.
"Look, he smiled," Ye Ranran reached out, wanting to touch him.
Huo’s mother swiftly pulled away, "Don’t touch him."
Ye Ranran stumbled backward two steps, and Huo Yi quickly caught her, "Be careful."
