Chapter 1221: Chapter 1444: The Color of Blood

Indeed, she now had to obtain his approval before going out.

Ye Ranran looked at the five or six bodyguards beside her with a bit of a headache.

Because of this, she didn’t shop for long and left after buying just two sets of clothes.

The sky outside was overcast with dense clouds, showing signs of impending rain. In October, the weather was such that the autumn rains followed one after another.

While waiting for the car, Ye Ranran suddenly saw a blur before her eyes. She didn’t have time to see what was happening when the bodyguard who had been standing right in front of her collapsed.

The other bodyguards didn’t look at the one who had fallen but instead formed a protective circle around her.

Screams accompanied by the sound of people fleeing filled her ears as the corner of Ye Ranran’s vision gradually reddened with blood.

She had a feeling that the Song Family was behind this, but she didn’t know what specifically had provoked them to take such a desperate gamble.

What had Jun Mochan been doing lately?

Being away from all electronic devices, she felt as if her eyes were covered, seeing only the patch of sky above her head.

The assailant was hidden in the shadows, and two-thirds of the people beside Ye Ranran fell quickly.

"Madam, let’s go." The bodyguard closest to Ye Ranran notified Jun Mochan while protecting her and moving forward.

After the wedding, Ye Ranran hadn’t seen One. Jun Mochan said he was recovering from injuries.

But Ye Ranran felt he might be dead since he died because of her.

Therefore, she had been particularly well-behaved during this time. She didn’t go anywhere or ask about anything.

If this would ensure everyone’s safety, she was completely willing to comply.

Is this still not enough?

Ye Ranran looked vacantly as the last person in front of her fell, frantically searching for a place to hide but not knowing where to go.

She couldn’t even run.

When she thought she was about to die, a man dressed in black walked out from the mall.

He stood in front of Ye Ranran, his gaze sweeping over her face as if to tease out every bit of her panic.

"Aren’t you afraid?" The man pointed a gun at Ye Ranran’s forehead.

Ye Ranran was, of course, afraid, her hand clenching the mini bomb in her pocket.

It was something Jun Mochan had given her a long time ago. She had brought it out on a whim, just in case.

"Scared, will you let me go?" Ye Ranran blinked her eyes, naively asking.

"No."

The man’s hand slowly squeezed the trigger.

Ye Ranran slowly closed her eyes, her hand gradually reaching out of her pocket.

"Stop!" At the moment the gunshot rang out, Ye Ranran fell into a pair of slightly chilly arms.

She abruptly opened her eyes, and the bomb she was about to use fell to the ground.

She watched, horror-stricken, as the bullet pierced through Song Ze’s heart, his blood spreading like a blooming flower, staining her blouse red.

He collapsed weakly into her arms, and she stretched out her hands, holding him mechanically.

"I still won’t thank you, you know?" she said.

"I, I know," Song Ze smiled.

But Ye Ranran cried, her tears falling like a breached dam: "Then why are you so foolhardy?"

She had said it—she wouldn’t remember his kindness; she couldn’t. So why did he still do it?

"Because I didn’t want you to die before me, because I want you to owe me," Song Ze said with difficulty, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth—his enchanting face growing even more demonic.

Like a red lotus, the color so bright it scorched the eyes.

Ye Ranran’s hands trembled as she wiped the blood from his mouth: "I’ll take you to the hospital, I won’t let you die, we’ll go to the hospital right now."
