Chapter 1219: Chapter 1442: He Is Not Wronged

"Be gentle, don’t press on my son," Ye Ranran looked down at her belly.

How did she know for sure it was a son? Song Ze was speechless.

"Hold on to me, we need to jump down now," Song Ze looked at the ground.

Ye Ranran looked down, and just as she realized the distance and was about to scream, Song Ze had already jumped.

Ye Ranran closed her eyes, clutching Song Ze’s clothes tightly.

But her heart felt a bit bleak—could her child still be safe at this speed?

Instead of the expected pain, Ye Ranran cautiously opened her eyes and found that she and Song Ze were hanging in a tree.

With one arm, Song Ze held her and grasped the tree branch with the other; their bodies swayed in the wind like vines.

Perhaps because she was relatively heavy, his breathing was a bit heavy. Ye Ranran looked down—it was one meter more. If she wasn’t pregnant, she’d have jumped without a word.

But now...

"Don’t worry, nothing will happen," Song Ze comforted her.

"Why bother? I still won’t be grateful to you," Ye Ranran murmured.

She really wouldn’t be grateful, nor would she thank him; he shouldn’t get his hopes up.

"I told you, I don’t need your gratitude," Song Ze let go.

Before Ye Ranran could scream, he turned, cushioning her fall with his body below hers.

The two landed almost piled on top of one another.

Just lying on the ground, before they could even adjust their postures, leaves began to fall and branches cracked overhead.

Song Ze rolled over with Ye Ranran to the side.

Leaves, dust, and soil covered them both, but they didn’t have the luxury to care.

Song Ze stood up and pulled Ye Ranran up: "Let’s go."

Ye Ranran’s mind was muddled, incapable of thought, her body aching from branches and small stones.

The building behind them collapsed with a thunderous roar, Song Ze protected her in his arms and led her forward.

A brick flew out of nowhere, hitting Song Ze’s foot.

He paused, releasing Ye Ranran: "Keep going, Jun Mochan should be on his way."

Ye Ranran, as if she hadn’t heard him, stuffed the bag she had been carrying into his chest, then crouched to move the stone.

The stone was somewhat heavy, and it took Ye Ranran some effort to move it, worried about Song Ze’s foot.

His trouser leg was stained with blood; Ye Ranran, with the relentless crashing noises behind her, had her brows filled with concern.

"Let me help you walk," Ye Ranran placed Song Ze’s hand on her shoulder, half-supporting him forward.

"You really should have gone on by yourself." If she still hoped her wedding would happen on time, she should be going to find Jun Mochan now.

He must be almost here by now.

"Why talk so much nonsense?" Ye Ranran scolded.

He became like this because he was saving her; how could she abandon him?

"Actually, this was all done by my elder brother, I am not wronged," Song Ze said, as if seeing through Ye Ranran’s thoughts.

All of this was the misdeeds of the Song Family, no one else to blame.

"Your brother is your brother, you are you." There are specific culprits for specific wrongs; she wouldn’t misdirect her anger at him.

The two reached a corner, and Ye Ranran, utterly spent, stopped to rest. White lime drifted down like snow.

Song Ze covered Ye Ranran’s head with his hand, but the lime still whitened her hair.

"It’s no use, don’t waste your energy," Ye Ranran’s eyelids flickered.
