Chapter 1216: Chapter 1339: Absolutely Not Envious

He assisted her with dressing like one would a child, then picked her up.

As they reached the ground floor, he had a servant cover her with a blanket before carrying her outside.

It was the heat that finally awakened Ye Ranran.

She threw off the blanket and found herself in a thick down jacket.

"Awake?" Jun Mochan brushed the hair from her forehead.

Ye Ranran glanced at her own attire and then at Jun Mochan, her mouth twitching, "Why are you wearing so little while I’m all bundled up?"

"You are wearing enough for two, naturally, you should wear more."

Ye Ranran: "..." Was he teasing her?

Ye Ranran took off the down jacket and tossed it aside.

She was about to remove another layer when Jun Mochan stopped her hand.

Ye Ranran dared not move anymore.

Once they arrived at the house in the city, Jun Mochan personally escorted Ye Ranran inside before leaving.

Number One and Number Five were positioned to guard the door.

This was the first time Ye Ranran saw a woman there, and what a woman.

Then she looked at herself.

For the first time, she despised her own appearance.

"You, come inside with me for a bit," Ye Ranran said to Number Five.

Number Five hadn’t interacted with Ye Ranran before and had specifically asked Number One, who rarely complimented anyone, yet had said two words: "Easy to talk."

What did "easy to talk" mean? It meant she was approachable.

So she happily came, as many people were curious about what the young mistress looked like. Numerous people asked her to take a good look and describe Ye Ranran to them when she returned.

She readily agreed, thinking to sneak a photo while Ye Ranran was getting her makeup done, but now, she had been exposed before she even made her move?

The makeup artist hadn’t arrived yet, and Ye Ranran sat in front of the mirror, observing Number Five from inside.

From afar, Number Five was watching Ye Ranran’s gestures and inexplicably found it amusing.

"You’re standing too far away, come closer," Ye Ranran beckoned Number Five with a finger.

Number Five approached nervously and stopped in front of Ye Ranran.

It turned out to be about that, Number Five sighed in relief and then felt a bit embarrassed: "It’s natural."

Ye Ranran wasn’t sure if it was her imagination, but she detected a hint of haughtiness in the woman’s tone.

If it’s natural, so be it—she absolutely wasn’t envious! Not at all!

"Madam, the makeup artists have arrived," Number One knocked from outside.

"Let them in," Ye Ranran motioned for Number Five to relax.

Five makeup artists entered, each carrying a small case.

Ye Ranran examined the makeup products and tools on the table, puzzled, "Didn’t I say there was no need to bring anything?"

Just as she finished speaking, Number Five sensed something was amiss; she immediately drew her gun, but was still a step too late. The adversary was closer to Ye Ranran and nearly at the same second she drew her gun, pressed a knife against Ye Ranran’s throat.

"You’re quite alert, what a pity," the intruder sneered.

Looking at "her" Adam’s apple, Ye Ranran rolled her eyes, "You might as well take off the wig on your head, it’s quite an eyesore."

"Do you think that will make me remove my hand?" the person shook their hair.

Ye Ranran: "..." Was he sent by monkeys to play the fool?

"If you don’t want your lady to come to harm, best put the gun down," the person’s knife cut in a bit, and drops of bright red blood emerged.
