Chapter 1073: Chapter 1096: Making Things Difficult
"Whatever the mistake, it’s never her fault anyway."
"Pfft, talk about being overprotective," Ye Ranran said, amused by his words.
"Of course I am. You are my wife; if I didn’t have this much ability, how could I dare to marry you?" Jun Mochan stated matter-of-factly.
Those words couldn’t have been more arrogant, yet Ye Ranran knew that Jun Mochan was not joking.
Only upon arrival did they realize it wasn’t so simple because the person asking questions was clearly giving Ye Ranran a hard time.
Jun Mochan’s face turned livid as he made a call to someone higher up.
While the police chief wasn’t Jun Mochan’s man, on the surface, the necessary respect was still given, and the chief promptly invited Jun Mochan to sit down, acting very polite.
"Young Master Jun, Mrs. Jun, the reason we invited you here today is primarily to understand the situation. This case isn’t significant, but it isn’t minor either," the police chief said with a smile plastered across his face.
"My wife has already said, hasn’t she? She can hardly even be considered friends with the deceased. The woman was someone my father kept on the side and had been found out to have affairs. My wife just went to mediate. After the mediation concluded, she agreed to leave City B and had not seen her since then. There’s no reason for her to kill her," said Jun Mochan, his voice still smooth, but his brows were frosted with ice.
It was obvious to everyone that he was not happy, and profoundly so.
"Young Master Jun, please don’t get angry. We’re not saying Mrs. Jun killed her; we just want to ask why Xia Qing would move out of City B all of a sudden?"
Jun Mochan smiled wryly, "Do you really want to know?"
That kind of smile was too cold, sending a shiver down the police chief’s spine.
"Because my wife didn’t like seeing her and made her move out of City B. Is that okay?" Jun Mochan said bluntly.
Ye Ranran tugged at him and gave the police chief an apologetic smile, "I’m sorry, he’s joking. The main reason is that a lot of people in City B know Xia Qing and many are aware of the situation. I thought it might be better for her to start over in a new city. I merely suggested it, but after thinking it over she thought it was a good idea."
"As for this murder you’re talking about, it has nothing to do with me. Whatever you’re trying to find out, I’ll tell you what I know," said Ye Ranran, sitting primly with her hands crossed.
"We’ve looked into it and found out that you, Mrs. Jun, had been in contact with the deceased a few days ago and even had a conflict, right?" the police chief inquired.
Ye Ranran furrowed her brows as if trying to remember, "No, we have met, but the conflict you mentioned did not happen."
The police chief said no more, simply playing a video. In the video, Xia Qing and Ye Ranran stood at the doorstep, speaking about something unknown.
Xia Qing held a list in her hand, hesitating before Ye Ranran snatched it away. So this was considered a conflict?
"And I see something in your hands. What is this?" the police chief pointed at the piece of paper in Xia Qing’s hand.
Ye Ranran and Jun Mochan exchanged glances; if by this time they didn’t know the police chief’s purpose, they would be very foolish indeed.
"That thing? I don’t know what it is. It was something the deceased had entrusted to my husband. As for the details, you should ask him," Ye Ranran pushed Jun Mochan forth without hesitation.
Lying was not her forte; he would have to handle it.
"That property was bought by my father for her. Now that she’s leaving, it’s natural to take it back," Jun Mochan said calmly.
