Chapter 1059: Chapter 1082: Called the Wrong Number
Fortunately, he hadn’t done anything serious. After explaining the situation, just paying some money and bailing him out would suffice.
Finding someone wasn’t a problem for Huo Yi, but he still inexplicably ended up calling Ye Ranran.
When Ye Ranran received the call, her expression was undoubtedly priceless.
"What’s wrong?" Jun Mochan noticed her furrowed brows, thinking something had happened.
"My brother called; he’s at the police station now, asking us to bail him out." They had only just parted, how had he wound up in a police station already?
And to bail someone out, too—are they insane?
"Could it have been a wrong number?" Jun Mochan also frowned.
Which police station would dare to detain Huo Yi? Were they seeking death?
Ye Ranran scrutinized the number carefully: "It’s my brother’s number, and it was his voice, no mistake. Do you think something has happened?"
"Let’s go and see," Jun Mochan suggested.
"Maybe I should go by myself." He had just returned, and there probably were many matters he needed to handle.
Jun Mochan picked up two documents: "I’ll go with you. I’m only rushed with these two, and I can look at them in the car."
Knowing that he was worried she would be taken advantage of, Ye Ranran didn’t try to persuade him otherwise.
Once in the car, Ye Ranran seemed to think of something, and she took out a list: "This is what I got from Xia Qing. It’s said to be the list of Song Family informants in the military."
The Song Family only engaged in politics, not the military. Inserting informants there was extremely difficult; these people must have been the family’s pawns for a decade, maybe decades.
If all of them were to be eliminated, the Song Family would surely suffer a severe blow.
"Aren’t you pleased?" Seeing no great joy on Jun Mochan’s face, Ye Ranran was curious.
"Getting rid of them isn’t an overnight task. Plus, once we make a move, the Song Family will likely suspect something." If it wasn’t foolproof, it was best not to act.
"Then we can take our time," Ye Ranran said nonchalantly.
"Mrs. Jun is right. Knowing who they are will make it easier to take action later." Jun Mochan didn’t know how to tell her that so many people, if actually moved against, would surely cause a major upheaval.
And every time there’s a purge, for every thousand enemies killed, at least two hundred of our own are lost.
"By the way, how is your studio coming along?" Jun Mochan tucked away the note.
"I’ve been hiring recently, but haven’t found the right people," Ye Ranran said with some frustration.
Was her criteria too stringent? Why couldn’t she find suitable candidates?
"Don’t worry, take your time. The right people will come," Jun Mochan said, pinching her face.
Ye Ranran slapped his hand away: "Don’t touch, I don’t want to ruin my makeup."
She didn’t want to touch up her makeup.
"Ranran is beautiful without makeup too." Jun Mochan actually quite liked Ye Ranran’s bare-faced look. Though makeup naturally made her features more exquisite, she was still beautiful without it.
There’s a beauty about her that’s unadorned and natural.
"You’re just flattering me." Granted, her looks were not bad. They couldn’t be considered breathtaking, but still, she was beautiful. But then again, aren’t celebrities beautiful? Don’t they wear makeup too?
Besides, her face looked sickly without makeup—it was simply unbearable.
"Oh, I’ve ordered a few wedding dresses for you to try tonight after dinner." They had actually been ordered a long time ago, but circumstances had delayed it until now.
"Why on earth would you suddenly want to try on wedding dresses?" Didn’t they already have a wedding ceremony?
Golden anniversaries and the like were still far off for her, weren’t they?
