Chapter 1040: Chapter 1063: No Turning Back
Seeing Xu Zi’s ceaseless movements, the elderly couple below grew anxious. Xu Zi’s father snatched a megaphone from the hands of a reporter, "Xiao Zi."
The familiar address halted Xu Zi’s actions; she doubted her ears, "Dad."
She glanced downwards, but the people below were as tiny as ants; she couldn’t distinguish which one was her relative.
"Xiao Zi, don’t do anything foolish," Xu Zi’s father shouted.
Xu Zi was completely stunned. She couldn’t understand why her parents would be here.
"Was it you who did this?" Xu Zi turned to look at Ye Ranran.
Ye Ranran, with a calm expression, nodded without evasion, "Yes."
Even the slightest thought would lead to this answer.
Jun Mochan already had a plan in mind, yet he felt it wasn’t perfect enough, so he continued pondering and didn’t interfere with the matter between Xu Zi and Ye Ranran.
This was a grudge between Ye Ranran and Xu Zi; he felt Ye Ranran would definitely prefer to solve it herself.
"You think I’ll change my mind just like that?" Xu Zi’s face contorted, "Don’t even think about it, Ye Ranran. I’m telling you, even as a ghost, I won’t let you go."
"If you can’t do anything to me as a living person, what can you possibly do as a ghost?" If she really turned into a ghost, she’d just get a Taoist priest to take care of her.
That would be much more convenient and save a lot of trouble.
To avoid any more complications.
"But before that, you’ll have to jump," Ye Ranran provoked her, "All this hesitance, isn’t it because you’re still holding onto hope?"
"What are you saying? Do you want her to die that badly?" Amid the scolding, Xu Zi’s parents arrived.
The elderly couple gasped for air as they climbed up, their faces red, clearly exerting a lot of effort.
The elevator only went up to the second-to-last floor; they had to take the stairs to the last one. The elderly were like this, likely due to a part of their anxiety.
"I think you misunderstand. I don’t want her to die; she’s the one standing there, wanting to end her life and drag me down with her," Ye Ranran rolled her eyes.
"How has my Xiao Zi dragged you down?" Xu Zi’s mother asked, trembling.
"Instead of fussing over this, you better think about how to convince Xiao Zi to come down," Ye Ranran smirked coldly.
While the two engaged in a verbal fencing match, Huo Yi quietly approached Xu Zi.
"Don’t come any closer," Xu Zi screamed, backing away.
Huo Yi took two steps forward, grabbed her arm with his large hand, and with a pull, she fell into his embrace.
"If you want to die, don’t involve everyone else," Huo Yi’s hand rested on Xu Zi’s neck, "You want to die that badly? I can send you to death right now."
The air in her chest seemed to thin all at once; Xu Zi found breathing difficult, and the sharp pain around her neck made her struggle, trying to pry Huo Yi’s hand away, but it was futile.
Xu Zi’s parents came forward; one attempted to grab Huo Yi’s hand, the other to pull him away, but he was immovable as a mountain.
Just when Xu Zi thought she was going to die, Huo Yi finally let her go, "If you don’t want to die, then behave yourself."
There was not a hint of emotion in his eyes; he treated her like an unwanted toy.
Unliked, and thus eager to throw it away.
Tears blurred Xu Zi’s vision, "Huo Yi, are you really that cruel?"
"Xu Zi, you’re the crueler one." She destroyed the happiness of his life, not even leaving him a chance to look back.
She made him realize that a broken mirror truly can’t be mended, a pity it was too late.
