Chapter 1022: Chapter 1046: Can’t Find the Person Anymore
"She’s my sister, so it’s not surprising we have similar tastes, right?" Song Ze smirked strangely.
"How about you break up with him and come into my arms? I’ll definitely treat you well." Song Ze spread his hands.
Ye Ranran looked down on him, "Besides that face of yours, in what way are you better than my husband?"
"Forget it, you won’t understand no matter how much I explain. I’ve got things to do, I’m leaving now. Oh, and come visit me in a couple of days; I have a gift for you." Ye Ranran winked at him, "Make sure you come, you hear?"
"Madam, why are you giving Song Ze a gift?" Number Three didn’t understand.
He wasn’t stupid enough to really think she had fallen for him.
"He did help me, didn’t he? It’s only polite to return the favor; don’t want him saying I owe him," Ye Ranran said to avoid any debt.
"Oh, what do you plan to give him?"
She hadn’t chosen anything; she just remembered that Song Ze was afraid of dogs, so she intended to give him a realistic toy dog.
"Madam, are you sure?" Number Three’s mouth twitched as he watched Ye Ranran selecting the toy dogs.
"When did I say I was sure?" It was just something she remembered, after all.
But even though she wasn’t a genius with eidetic memory, she wasn’t old enough to be forgetful.
"Don’t worry, it’s definitely the right choice," Ye Ranran picked a small golden retriever, then suddenly saw a large golden retriever on the floor in the corner.
Ye Ranran pounced on it, hugging it, "This one."
Number Four, carrying a box that was half a head taller than him, wobbled along behind Ye Ranran. Thankfully, they had driven an SUV today; the boot was big enough, so there was no worry about it not fitting.
Leaving the store, Ye Ranran spotted a cotton candy vendor and felt a craving.
"Go, buy me a stick of cotton candy." Ye Ranran handed twenty yuan to Number Three.
He couldn’t believe she was still eating cotton candy at her age, so Number Three looked at her incredulously.
"What are you standing around for? Hurry up and go." Ye Ranran urged.
And so, Number Three mingled among a group of children, the adults nearby scrutinizing him with peculiar glances.
Number Three felt this was the most painful task he’d ever carried out.
With a mournful expression, he bought two sticks of cotton candy, fearing that one wouldn’t be enough for Ye Ranran and she might want another.
"So you wanted some too." Ye Ranran took a stick and looked at Number Three with disdain.
If you wanted some, just say so, instead of putting on that pained expression.
Before Number Three could retort, Ye Ranran’s phone rang.
"Ranran, please, save my child," Xia Qing’s sobs came through from the other side of the call, as if wailing to heaven and earth.
Ye Ranran moved the phone slightly away from her ear, "What’s wrong?"
"Your father... he’s gone mad, he wants to kill my child."
As Jun Mochan had predicted, once the seed of suspicion was planted, Xia Qing’s father took the child for a DNA test early in the morning.
The result came out quickly; Xia Yi was not Xia Qing’s father’s biological child. Now he was set on dealing with him.
"The results came out that fast?" Shouldn’t that take at least two days?
"It’s a military hospital." Though Xia Qing’s father had no real power left, the Huo Family hadn’t fallen; for common folks it took two days, but for him, it took just two hours.
"Ranran, please, save my child," Xia Qing pleaded.
"What’s that got to do with me?" Why would she be involved in such a mess? It’s not like she’s some sort of savior.
"I... I couldn’t find anyone else, please," she begged. In truth, she had tried calling everyone, but not a single person was willing to pick up.
