Chapter 1018: Chapter 1042: Not Graceful at All

Jun Mochan had said, "Call me when you get here," but Ye Ranran wanted to give him a surprise that wasn’t quite a surprise.

"You’ve said I’m pretty, and you see I don’t look like a bad person, right? Just let me in," Ye Ranran pleaded.

"No way," the soldier stood firm on his principles.

What to do.

When Ye Ranran was at her wit’s end, a horn sounded from behind.

"Move aside a bit, will you?" Ye Ranran rubbed her head.

If she really couldn’t think of a solution, she would have to ask Jun Mochan to come out.

The car stopped in front of her but didn’t leave right away. Ye Ranran found it odd. She looked up and saw a face she did not want to see.

"Like a bad penny," Ye Ranran spat.

"Ranran, are you missing me?" Song Ze greeted her with a smile.

This was a rare occurrence; after all, Song Ze was usually too stingy to offer a smile to anyone.

"Indeed, I do miss you—to be exact, I wish you’d drop dead this instant," Ye Ranran replied with a sweet smile.

"Why are you here?" Song Ze didn’t mind her tone.

Ye Ranran rolled her eyes, "None of your damn business."

"Got stopped at the door? Can’t get in? Need my help?" Song Ze sent a friendly signal.

Ye Ranran looked at him skeptically, "You? Kind-hearted?"

"Ranran really knows me. Of course, there’s a price," he conceded.

She knew it—when was this man ever so kind-hearted? His conscience must have been devoured by dogs a long time ago.

"No need, I’ll figure something out myself." Better to ask Jun Mochan—she’d go as far as to offer herself in gratitude, but this guy? He’d take her life.

However, Song Ze was persistent, "No, we’re acquaintances after all. How could I just leave you stranded here?"

It would bother him.

Ye Ranran’s eyes twinkled with mirth, "I’m indeed grateful to you."

"Does that mean you agree?" Song Ze’s expression was lively, with a smile that was captivating, like a spring peach blossom, enchanting and bewitching.

Ye Ranran’s eyes darted around before she nodded forcefully, "Since you insist on helping to the point of making a scene, how can I refuse?"

Song Ze didn’t care that she took verbal advantage of him. He showed his ID to the soldier at the gate, pointed at Ye Ranran, and had a soft exchange of words with him.

The soldier gave Ye Ranran a knowing look, nodded, and graciously allowed them both to enter.

The car couldn’t go any further once it reached the nearest office building. Ye Ranran and Song Ze got out almost simultaneously.

Song Ze was considerate enough to hold an umbrella for Ye Ranran.

Ye Ranran looked at the sky, then at the umbrella overhead, and finally at Song Ze with an expression reserved for an idiot, "It’s not raining, there’s no sun—why the hell are you holding an umbrella?"

"To block the dust," Song Ze replied nonchalantly.

Ye Ranran: "..." Had he forgotten to take his medicine?

"Just because it’s not raining now doesn’t mean it won’t later—I’m just being prepared for anything," realizing how silly his previous statement was, Song Ze quickly corrected himself.

Ye Ranran was already speechless and didn’t want to communicate any further with him.

She decided to look for Jun Mochan. The military base was huge, and she had no idea how long it would take to find him on her own, so she decided to ask someone.

The most convenient option was to ask Offices 3 and 4.

"Do you know where my husband is?"

A snicker came from above her head.

Ye Ranran glared menacingly, "What the hell are you laughing at?"

"That comment was anything but elegant," Song Ze held the umbrella in one hand and the other behind his back, standing tall and motionless. He looked like a fine piece of art.
