The Twisted Obsession
Chapter 99: Nervous

Chapter 99: Nervous

Remo paced back and forth in his lavish bedroom, his brow furrowed with indecision. He stared at the array of suits laid out on his bed, each one meticulously tailored and perfectly pressed. Despite his efforts, none seemed to satisfy him.

Tony, leaned against the doorway, observing Remo’s agitation with a mixture of bemusement and amusement. He couldn’t resist a teasing grin as he watched the usually composed Remo fumble with his clothing choices.

"Hey there, boss," Tony said with a chuckle. "Having a little trouble deciding what to wear, huh?"

Remo shot him a glare, his frustration evident. "It’s not funny, Tony. This is important."

Tony raised an eyebrow, his grin widening. "Ah, the great Remo, nervous for a date? Who would’ve thought? I always thought nothing could rattle you, not even a bullet whizzing past your head."

Remo shot him a glare, his frustration evident. "It’s not funny, Tony. This is important."

Tony raised an eyebrow, his grin widening. "Important? I’ve seen you handle high-stakes negotiations and take down rival gangs without breaking a sweat. But a date? Now that’s got you sweating bullets."

Remo sighed, running a hand through his hair in exasperation. "It’s different, Tony. Abby means a lot to me, and I want everything to be perfect."

Tony’s expression softened, his playful demeanor giving way to genuine concern. "I know, buddy. And trust me, she’s going to love whatever you choose to wear. You’ve got style, class, and charm—all the ingredients for a perfect date."

Remo sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I just want tonight to be special," he admitted, his voice tinged with vulnerability.

Tony clapped him on the shoulder, a reassuring smile on his face. "And it will be, Remo. Just relax, be yourself, and let your natural charm do the rest. Besides, I’m sure Abby already thinks you’re the most handsome man in the room, no matter what you wear."

Remo couldn’t help but chuckle at Tony’s words, feeling a sense of gratitude for his friend’s unwavering support. With Tony’s encouragement, he took a deep breath, feeling a wave of calm wash over him.

"Thanks, Tony," Remo said, his voice filled with appreciation. "I needed that."

Tony grinned, his eyes twinkling with mischief. "Now, hurry up and pick a suit before Abby starts to think you stood her up. We wouldn’t want that, would we?"

With a newfound sense of calm, Remo selected a sleek black suit and began to dress. As he adjusted his tie in the mirror, he couldn’t help but feel a surge of nervous energy coursing through him. Despite his usual confidence, the thought of impressing Abby filled him with a sense of vulnerability he hadn’t experienced in years.

Tony watched as Remo made his final preparations, a proud smile tugging at his lips. "You clean up pretty nicely, boss. Just don’t forget to breathe out there."

Remo chuckled, feeling a sense of gratitude for his friend’s support. "Thanks, Tony. I’ll remember that."

As Remo stepped outside, he was greeted by a surprising sight. Charles, Abby’s father, was sitting in the living room dressed in a sharp suit and sporting a charming smile.

"Charles," Remo greeted, his voice tinged with surprise. "I didn’t expect to see you here."

Charles turned to face Remo, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Ah, Remo, my boy," he said warmly. "You’re looking quite dapper yourself. My daughter didn’t disappoint me, that’s for sure."

Remo’s cheeks flushed with embarrassment at Charles’s compliment. He had never been one to blush easily, but something about Abby’s father’s approval struck a chord with him.

"Thank you, Charles," Remo replied, his voice sincere. "I appreciate that."

Behind Remo, Tony couldn’t contain his amusement at the exchange. He chuckled softly, earning a quizzical glance from Remo.

"What’s so funny, Tony?" Remo asked, a hint of irritation creeping into his voice.

Tony shook his head, still grinning. "Nothing, boss. It’s just... you never expected the cold-blooded killer to get flustered over a date, let alone get compliments from his wife’s father."

Remo rolled his eyes, but couldn’t help but smile at Tony’s teasing. "Shut up."

With a playful wink, Tony patted Remo on the back before stepping forward to greet Charles himself. Remo watched with a mixture of amusement and trepidation as the two men exchanged pleasantries.

"Tony would be around in case you need anything tonight." Remo said.

Charles nodded, "Alright. Did you remember the flowers?" Charles asked, his tone tinged with concern.

Remo’s heart sank as he realized his mistake. "I... I forgot," he admitted sheepishly.

Charles clapped a hand on Remo’s shoulder, his expression understanding. "No worries, my boy. They’re on the table inside. Go pick them up before you head out."

Remo nodded, grateful for Charles’s guidance. "Thank you, Charles. I’ll go get them right away."

Remo came back with the flowers and said goodbye to Tony and Charles with both men cheering him on.

When he got downstairs his driver was waiting for him.Remo’s hand trembled slightly as he reached for the door handle, his heart pounding in his chest. With a deep breath, he summoned the courage to open the car door and step inside. As he settled into the plush leather seat, he couldn’t shake the nagging feeling of apprehension that clung to him like a shadow.

The drive to his destination felt like an eternity, each passing moment filled with a mounting sense of unease. Remo’s mind raced with doubts and fears, his thoughts consumed by the uncertainty of the evening ahead. Would Abby show up? And if she did, would she be disappointed by his presence?

When the car finally pulled up to their destination, Remo’s nerves reached a fever pitch. He could feel the weight of Abby’s expectations bearing down on him, and he couldn’t help but wonder if he would be able to live up to them. Would she find him ridiculous in his efforts to impress her? Would she see through the facade of confidence he tried so hard to maintain?

With a heavy sigh, Remo stepped out of the car and onto the pavement. The cool night air did little to calm his racing thoughts as he made his way towards the entrance, each step feeling heavier than the last.
