Chapter 96: Worst nightmares

As Lily and Alex continued to peruse the exquisite handbags, a graceful shop attendant approached them, her demeanor radiating elegance and sophistication. She took in Lily’s stunning appearance, her discerning eyes noting the air of wealth and refinement that surrounded her, a

ccompanied by the handsome presence of Alex by her side.

"Good afternoon, madam, sir. How may I assist you today?" the attendant inquired, her voice dripping with poise and professionalism.

Lily smiled warmly at the attendant, her eyes alight with anticipation. "We’re interested in the latest addition to the collection, the ’Aurora Elysium’ handbag. Do you have it in stock?"

The attendant’s expression faltered ever so slightly, a shadow of regret crossing her features. "I’m terribly sorry, madam. It seems that the red-haired woman who just left has purchased the last one."

Lily’s heart sank at the news, a flicker of disappointment clouding her features. The ’Aurora Elysium’ had captured her heart with its timeless elegance and exquisite design, and the thought of missing out on it was disheartening.

As Lily processed the news of the red-haired woman purchasing the last ’Aurora Elysium’ handbag, a simmering anger began to bubble deep within her. Her mind raced with questions, her thoughts swirling with suspicion and disbelief. Who was this woman, and how could she afford such a coveted and limited piece?

The realization hit Lily like a wave crashing against the shore—there were only a handful of people who could even consider purchasing the ’Aurora Elysium.’ It was a symbol of luxury and exclusivity, with only two pieces available in the entire country. The fact that someone had snatched it away from her felt like a personal affront, a challenge to her status and taste.

Her desire to own the bag was not just about its beauty; it was about the prestige and admiration it would bring. Lily had been looking forward to showcasing the ’Aurora Elysium’ at the upcoming gala, to bask in the envy and admiration of her peers. Now, that dream seemed to slip through her fingers like grains of sand.

Turning to the shop attendant, Lily’s voice was laced with a thinly veiled frustration as she asked, "Do you know who that woman was? How could she afford such a rare piece?"

The attendant hesitated, his expression guarded as he replied, "I’m sorry, madam, but I cannot disclose the information of our clients."

Lily’s patience waned, her determination to uncover the truth overriding any sense of decorum. Leaning in closer, she pressed the attendant softly, her voice a whisper tinged with urgency. "Please, I need to know. Did you catch her name?"

Reluctantly, the attendant relented, his voice barely audible as he whispered back, "I heard the manager addressing her as Mrs. Quinn. She was personally attended to by him."

Lily’s anger simmered beneath the surface, replaced by a calculating resolve. She would find out more about Mrs. Quinn and the audacity to acquire the ’Aurora Elysium.’

However, she quickly composed herself, offering the attendant a gracious smile. "That’s unfortunate. Thank you for checking. Do you happen to know if there will be more available soon?"

The attendant nodded sympathetically. "I’m afraid I don’t have that information at the moment, madam. But I can take your contact details and notify you as soon as we receive a new shipment."

Lily nodded, grateful for the offer. As she exchanged contact information with the attendant, she couldn’t help but feel a sense of determination. The ’Aurora Elysium’ may have eluded her for now, but she was determined to make it hers, no matter the cost.

With a final thank you to the attentive shop attendant, Lily and Alex made their way out of the luxurious shop, their minds already buzzing with plans to track down the coveted handbag and add it to Lily’s exquisite collection.

As Abby settled into the plush leather seat of her car, Martha who was waiting for her couldn’t help but notice the paleness of her complexion and the hint of distress in her eyes. Concern etched her features as he turned to her, his voice filled with genuine care.

" Abby, are you alright?" She inquired, her tone laced with concern.

Abby forced a weak smile, her heart heavy with the weight of painful memories that had resurfaced at the sight of Lily and Alex. She had managed to slip away before they could recognize her, but the encounter had left her shaken and vulnerable.

"I’m fine, thank you," Abby replied, her voice strained with the effort to appear composed. When Remo had told her to come for a bag as a reward for standing up for herself she didn’t think she would bump into her two worst nightmares.

In the span of the day she had met the people who had made her life miserable.

Today was supposed to be a good day but she wasn’t sure anymore.

As the car pulled away from the curb, Abby couldn’t shake the flood of emotions that threatened to overwhelm her. Seeing Lily and Alex together had stirred up a whirlwind of painful memories—the relentless taunts, the cruel rejection, the crushing weight of insecurity that had plagued her for so long.

Her thoughts drifted back to the hurtful words of the man who had callously dismissed her, his cruel remarks etched into her memory like scars. The pain of his rejection still lingered, a constant reminder of her perceived inadequacy and unworthiness.

Despite her attempts to mask her turmoil, Abby couldn’t escape the suffocating grip, of her emotions. She felt as though she were drowning in a sea of self-doubt and longing, desperate for a glimmer of hope in the darkness that engulfed her.

As the car sped through the bustling streets, Abby wrestled with the conflicting emotions that churned within her. God only knew the depth of the pain she carried—the ache of unrequited love, the sting of rejection, the torment of comparing herself to her beautiful cousin who seemed to effortlessly command attention and affection.
