Chapter 35: Addiction
Chapter 35: Addiction
Abby swallowed and shook her head, "N-no." She managed to let out.
"Good." He said laying down on his back.
"Move closer dear wife, I won’t bite," he suggested. Without hesitation, she rolled over to nestle against him. His arm enveloped her back, drawing her closer until her head found a comfortable spot on his shoulder, and her leg intertwined with his.
The indescribable sensation of feeling his warm skin against hers made her secretly cherish the moment.
Though only a few minutes passed, they lay in a silent embrace, immersed in the rhythm of his heartbeat and steady breathing.
His fingers traced soothing circles on her lower back, the other hand resting atop hers on his chest.
"This is nice," she confessed in a hushed tone, uncertain why she almost whispered in the private moment. The fragility of the moment made her cautious, as if any sudden noise could shatter it.
"Yeah... it is," he agreed, his response faint. ;
"Never slept with anyone like this since Isa...," he paused, and she could hear the exhaustion in his voice. "It is soothing."
Abby felt a pang of sadness and guilt inside her heart. What would Isabella think of her? She never planned on liking Remo Quinn when she approached him but now his laugh, his scent, his smirks. The mischievous glints in his eyes. They were the most dangerous kind of drug and she found herself already addicted to them.
She felt his breathing getting deeper, the steady rise and fall of his chest becoming more rhythmic as he drifted off.
She peered up to see his eyes closed, and just when she thought she couldn’t be more in awe of him, the serene sight of his relaxed features as he fell asleep had her chest wanting to collapse in on itself.
She watched him, noticing the serenity on his face, free from any signs of trouble, mischief, or hardness.Cradling closer, she relished in the peace surrounding them.
"I enjoyed the kiss," he sighed, his words faint and muffled by sleep, leaving her questioning if she heard correctly. Her blood seemed to freeze as she absorbed his confession, dispelling any doubts about her feelings.
"I enjoyed it too, Remo" she pondered, finding it challenging to admit it, even to herself. As the night unfolded, she discovered two things: She was falling for Remo Quinn and she was sliding down the slippery slope of addiction.

Abigail and her Izabella snuggled up on the cozy living room couch, a big bowl of buttery popcorn nestled between them. The room was dimly lit, with the soft glow of fairy lights draped across the walls creating a magical ambiance.
A rom-com movie was playing on the screen, setting the perfect tone for a relaxing evening.
As the movie’s catchy theme song started playing, Abigail turned to Izabella with a mischievous grin. "You know, I heard this movie has the cheesiest lines ever," she said, winking.
Izabella rolled her eyes playfully. "Oh great, just what I need, more cheesy lines in my life."
They both burst into laughter, their giggles filling the room. Abigail grabbed a handful of popcorn and held it out towards Izabella, pretending to be a popcorn vendor. "Popcorn, ma’am? Freshly popped and seasoned to perfection!"
Izabella chuckled and took a handful. "Why, thank you, kind sir. Your popcorn services are much appreciated."
They settled in, occasionally exchanging comments about the characters on screen. During one particularly dramatic moment, Abigail dramatically placed a hand over her heart. "I can’t believe he just said that! It’s like he raided the cliché handbook!"
Izabella pretended to gasp in shock. "Maybe he took a ’How to Be a Romantic Lead 101’ course online!"
They erupted into laughter again, their voices harmonizing beautifully in the cozy room. As the movie reached a heartwarming scene, Abigail wiped away a tear and sniffled dramatically.
Izabella raised an eyebrow. "Are you actually crying?"
Abigail nodded, blinking back more faux tears. "Yes, it’s just so touching. I think I need a tissue."
Izabella grabbed a napkin and handed it to her sister, both of them dissolving into laughter once more. The movie continued, and they shared whispered commentary, occasional gasps, and lots of giggles.
They both shared a knowing look and laughed even harder, popcorn flying in every direction. As the movie reached a heartwarming scene, Abigail felt a tear welling up in her eye.
Izabella said teasingly "Aw, is big sis getting emotional?"
Abigail playfully swatted her arm "Shush! Don’t ruin the moment."
They exchanged teasing glances and then burst into laughter again. The bond between them was palpable, the shared joy of the movie night bringing them even closer.
Halfway through the movie, Abigail stretched her arms out and accidentally knocked over the popcorn bowl.
Izabella laughed "Smooth move, butterfingers!"
Abigail mock gasped, "How dare you! This is an act of rebellion by the popcorn kernels."
They both laughed, grabbing a few fallen popcorns from the couch and throwing them at each other in mock defiance. The living room was filled with their playful banter and the sounds of the movie.
As the movie came to a close, the sisters exchanged satisfied smiles, feeling a sense of contentment from the shared experience.
Abigail said, "Thanks for picking this movie, Izabella. It was exactly what I needed."
Izabella hugged her, "Anytime, Abby. Movie nights with you are the best."
The credits rolled on the screen, and they lingered on the couch, still wrapped in the warmth of their shared laughter and the love they held for each other.
"Do you think that one day I will find love like this? A man who would tell me the cheesiest lines in the book and risk everything to make me happy?" Abigail asked.
Izabella looked at her sister with a twinkle in her eye, a teasing smile forming on her lips. "Oh, absolutely. And not just any man, but one who will serenade you with bad poetry and bring you coffee in bed every morning."
Abigail playfully nudged her friend. "Hey now, don’t set my expectations too high!"
Izabella laughed. "But seriously, Abby, you deserve someone who makes your heart race with cheesy lines and makes you laugh till you cry."
