The Twisted Obsession -
Chapter 34: Nervous
Chapter 34: Nervous
On their way back home, all Abby could think about was the kiss and what he had said.Tony’s smirked look anytime he met her eyes in the mirror didn’t help either. She blushed profusely and looked away every time. It was like he knew what had happened between her and Remo. He was teasing her.She just couldn’t understand why he had kissed her and then proceeded to say those words ruining the moment . When they arrived, she took a shower while Remo discussed something with Tony. When she was done showering she found Remo alone waiting for her in the living room.Remo stood up as Abby entered the living room, a playful grin on his face. "Well, someone seems to be in deep thought," he teased, noticing her flushed cheeks.Abby chuckled nervouslyy, tucking a strand of damp hair behind her ear. "Yeah, well, it’s been quite a day," she admitted, avoiding eye contact.Remo leaned against the wall, crossing his arms. "So, spill it. What’s going on in that mind of yours?"She bit her lips , glancing at the floor. She bit her lip, her gaze darting to the floor. "Nothing much," she mumbled. "Just... unexpected moments."Remo smirked, catching her hesitation. "Unexpected, huh? Care to share details?"Avoiding the question, Abby changed the subject. "You should take a hot shower too, before you catch a cold."Remo raised an eyebrow, but a playful glimmer remained in his eyes. "Alright. We’ll continue this conversation later."Abby sighed and retreated to her room to dry her hair. Staring at herself in the mirror, she traced her lips with her fingertips, as if seeking confirmation of the surreal moment. Why was he being so nice to her? Even to go as far to kiss a toad like her.Well he did warn her. Now she was curious about the price that she was going to pay for all of this by the end of this charade. Not like she wasn’t already paying a certain price. She felt like she going crazy with the turmoil of emotions she had been feeling in the past few days. The only emotion she thought she was capable of was hate now she was nervous around Remo. It makes her feel vulnerable and that scares the hell out her. She didn’t want to get close to him; she didn’t want to care about someone. That’s why he seemed like the perfect candidate, but now she thinks she made a mistake. She’s not even entertaining the thought of him developing feelings for her. She knew all of this was some sort of twisted fun game for him.The bathroom door creaked open, and she turned to see Remo striding towards her with only a towel loosely draped around his hips, droplets glistening on his chest tattoos. She couldn’t understand why she was staring at him, as if her eyes had a mind of their own. He was the most beautiful male specimen she had ever seen, not that she had seen many. Her heart hammered in her chest, her stomach doing somersaults. She tried to look unaffected by his hot gaze, but she failed terribly. The flower of shame bloomed on Abby’s cheeks, and her heart raced. Remo’s playful grin persisted as he approached. "So, still lost in thought?" he remarked, his voice filled with amusement. Stammering, Abby tried to regain composure. "I, uh, just got lost in the moment. I’m a little nervous to go back home..."Remo nodded as he stood beside her. "You don’t have to be nervous. Your husband will protect you." Abby’s lips curled up, and she nodded, "Alright," even though that’s not what she was thinking; it wasn’t far from the truth."Why didn’t you blow-dry your hair after taking the shower?" he said, taking the hairdryer."I... I just didn’t think it mattered," Abby stammered, feeling a surge of discomfort. Remo’s proximity only heightened her unease, and she fidgeted slightly under his gaze.He chuckled, his tone teasing. "Well, it matters to me. Let’s fix that." Remo began blow-drying her hair, his touch surprisingly gentle. Abby tried to focus on anything other than the warmth of his breath against her neck.As he worked, Remo continued the conversation, "You know, you don’t have to be nervous around me. We’re friends, right?" His playful grin persisted, making Abby feel a mixture of confusion and attraction."Yeah, friends," she replied, her voice a bit shaky. The idea of being just friends with Remo seemed almost impossible with the magnetic pull she felt.Once he finished blow-drying her hair, Remo stepped back, admiring his work. "There, much better. Now, why don’t you sleep. We will leave tomorrow." He handed her the hairdryer with a smirk.Abby blinked in confusion."I thought we were going to visit your family first."Remo shrugged, "Old man travelled out of the country to visit my sister. We have a family dinner once a month I will take you next month."Abby nodded, happy to see her father soon. Will her father like Remo? Would he be angry when he finds out that her marriage with Remo is fake. Remo started drying his hair and she sat down in a daze. She was nervous that she was going to be sleeping in the same bed even though it wouldn’t be the first time. She felt the kiss had changed things between them. She didn’t know how but she felt it. Remo placed the hair dryer down and picked the sweatpants she had put on the dresser for him.It was a baggy pants she was sure would fit him perfectly. He walked to the bathroom and walked out a few seconds later."I guess it fits perfectly." Remo nodded, "Yh it’s really comfortable too."He walked to the bed and laid down."Come over here," Remo’s soft tone pulled Abby’s attention. She shifted her gaze to him, draped in sheets, his head propped on one arm while the other extended toward her. Taking a moment to breathe, Abby stood up and walked slowly to the bed.Her heart racing in her chest. As she reached, Remo’s hand enveloped her, gently guiding her onto the bed. Slipping beneath the covers, she laid on her back, fixating on the ceiling. Remo, supported on his elbow, looked at her."Do I make you nervous, dear wife?" 3
