The Twisted Obsession -
Chapter 220: Disgrace
Chapter 220: Disgrace
"You are nothing," Remo declared, his voice carrying a weight of finality that left no room for argument. "And if you ever so much as look in my wife’s direction again, I will ensure that you regret it for the rest of your miserable existence."
With that, Remo released his grip on Alex’s wrist, allowing him to stumble away in humiliation and defeat.
As Alex’s mother rushed to her son’s side, her panic evident in her eyes, the bodyguards of the Sinclair family quickly moved to surround Remo and Abby, sensing the escalating dispute.
"You, I won’t let you go. How dare you harm my precious son for touching a slut—"
Remo’s aura shifted, his anger palpable as he heard the derogatory words directed at his wife.
"What did you just say?" Remo’s voice thundered, echoing through the room with a menacing intensity that sent a shiver down the woman’s spine. "How dare you insult my wife!"
The woman trembled under Remo’s furious gaze, her own fear mirroring the unease that had settled over the room. Who was this man, and why was he so terrifying?
As Remo’s own bodyguards arrived on the scene, their presence adding to the tension in the air, they quickly assessed the situation and moved to counteract the other guards.
"Boss, we’re sorry we’re late. Is everything okay?" they asked, their voices tense with concern.
Remo’s gaze never left the woman who had insulted his wife, his eyes burning with righteous fury as he demanded an apology.
"Apologize to my wife," Remo commanded, his voice cutting through the air like a knife. There was no room for negotiation, no tolerance for disrespect. In that moment, he made it clear that he would not allow anyone to demean or insult his wife without consequence
The woman’s face paled even further as she recoiled under Remo’s unwavering glare. Caught between fear and shame, she hesitated for a moment before finally finding her voice, her words trembling as she spoke.
"I-I’m sorry," she stammered, her apology barely audible above the tension-filled silence of the room. "I didn’t mean... I didn’t know..."
But Remo’s expression remained stern, his eyes locked onto hers with an intensity that brooked no excuses. "That’s not good enough," he replied, his voice cold and unforgiving. "You insulted my wife in front of all these people. You will apologize properly, or there will be consequences."
The woman’s breath caught in her throat as she realized the gravity of the situation. With a shaky breath, she straightened her posture, steeling herself for what she knew she must do.
"I-I apologize," she said, her voice clearer this time, though still tinged with fear. "I’m sorry for my words. They were out of line, and I should not have spoken to them."
Remo’s expression softened slightly at her words, though the anger still simmered beneath the surface. "Apology accepted," he replied, his tone firm but less harsh than before. "But remember this: my wife is not to be insulted or disrespected by anyone. Is that clear?"
The woman nodded quickly, her eyes downcast in shame as she retreated from Remo’s imposing presence. As the tension in the room began to dissipate, Remo turned his attention back to Abby, his expression softening as he reached out to take her hand in his.
"Are you alright?" he asked, his concern evident in his voice. Abby nodded, her eyes meeting him with gratitude and relief.
Mr. Sinclair who had witnessed the scene approached Remo, his expression a mix of apology and apprehension, he knew he had to tread carefully. Offending someone of Remo’s stature could have dire consequences for his family’s reputation and business interests.
"Mr. Quinn, I apologize profusely for the behavior of my son and wife," Mr. Sinclair began, his voice laced with sincerity. "Their actions were inexcusable, and I assure you, they will be dealt with accordingly."
Remo’s gaze remained impassive as he listened to Mr. Sinclair’s apology, his eyes betraying nothing of his thoughts or emotions.
In an attempt to lighten the mood and ease the tension, Mr. Sinclair attempted to inject a bit of levity into the situation. "Well, it seems my family has a knack for causing a scene," he joked, a weak smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "But I suppose that’s the price we pay for being in the spotlight, eh?"
Ignoring Mr. Sinclair’s attempt at levity, Remo reached for Abby’s hand, his touch gentle yet firm as he guided her out of the room without a word. Mr. Sinclair watched them go, a sense of unease settling in the pit of his stomach as he realized the gravity of the situation.
As Remo and Abby disappeared from view, Mr. Sinclair knew that he had narrowly avoided a potentially disastrous confrontation.
As Mr. Sinclair’s gaze fell upon his wife, a silent exchange passed between them, laden with unspoken threats and promises of retribution. Mrs. Sinclair trembled under her husband’s glare, her eyes darting away in fear as she realized the gravity of their situation.
"Send the young master and the madam home," Mr. Sinclair instructed his bodyguards, his voice clipped and cold. The command hung in the air, heavy with the weight of his authority and the consequences that awaited those who had dared to defy him
As the crowd began to disperse, whispers and gossip filled the air, the murmurs of the elite swirling around them like a tempest of judgment and scorn. Among them, Lily stood seething with anger, her fists clenched at her sides as she watched the scene unfold.
She knew that tomorrow she would become the laughingstock of the upper class, her carefully constructed facade crumbling in the wake of Abby’s presence. All her efforts to be accepted and respected were unraveling before her eyes, overshadowed by the mere appearance of Abby.
In that moment, Lily felt a surge of resentment towards Abby as she glanced around at the disapproving gazes and whispered criticisms. They were laughing at her already poking fun at her perfect relationship with Alex.
