Chapter 216: Another chance

Chapter 216: Another chance

"Hmmm—-as much as I love others complimenting my wife, I don’t like others ogling at her. It makes me want to gouge out their eyes for staring at what’s mine with their awful, lustful gaze," Remo’s voice cut through the air, surprising Alex. Who the hell was this man?! His aura was crazy. No, he was crazy.

Alex’s eyebrows shot up in surprise at Remo’s blunt statement. Who was this man, and what gave him the right to speak with such possessiveness over Abby? The intensity in Remo’s voice and the fierce determination in his eyes made it clear that he wasn’t someone to be underestimated.

A sense of unease settled over Alex as he glanced between Remo and Abby, the realization sinking in that he was treading on dangerous ground. Remo’s aura was overwhelming, his presence commanding attention and respect in equal measure.

As Alex struggled to find the right words to respond, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he had just crossed paths with a force of nature that was beyond his understanding. Whatever Remo’s intentions were, one thing was clear – he was not a man to be trifled with.

With a nervous nod, Alex offered a weak smile, his mind racing with thoughts of how to navigate the delicate situation before him. He knew that he would have to tread carefully if he wanted to avoid provoking the ire of this formidable man who seemed to hold Abby’s heart in his grasp.

As Remo uttered the curt word, "Good," and turned away, taking his glass of whiskey with him, Alex felt a surge of anger rise within him. His jaw clenched tight as he watched Remo walk back to Abby, his demeanor composed yet radiating an undeniable air of authority.

Who did this man think he was, speaking about Abby as if she were his property? The possessiveness in Remo’s tone only served to fuel Alex’s determination to reclaim Abby as his own.

With clenched fists and a jaw set in determination, Alex watched as Remo walked back to Abby. The sight of them together, so effortlessly comfortable in each other’s presence, only served to stoke the flames of Alex’s frustration.

He hated challenges more than anything, and the thought of having to compete with a man like Remo for Abby’s affections filled him with a burning desire to prove himself worthy. He refused to be outdone, refused to let Remo stand in the way of what he wanted.

As he nursed his own drink at the bar, Alex made a silent vow to himself. He would stop at nothing to win Abby back, to show her that he was the one who truly belonged by her side. And as he plotted his next move, a fierce determination settled over him, driving him forward on a path that would lead him back into Abby’s arms, where he knew he truly belonged.

Who did this man think he was, speaking about Abby as if she were his property? The possessiveness in Remo’s tone only served to fuel Alex’s determination to reclaim Abby as his own.

"What was that about?" Abby asked Remo, her brow furrowing in confusion, once he walked back to her.

"He wouldn’t stop staring at what’s mine. Had to remind him who you belong to," Remo replied, his voice low and possessive.

Abby couldn’t help but chuckle at Remo’s words, shaking her head in amusement. "You’re crazy," she teased, though there was a hint of fondness in her tone.

Remo pulled her closer, his arms encircling her waist possessively. "Maybe I am," he admitted with a smirk. "Where’s Cage?" he asked, glancing around the room.

"Business call," Abby replied, her gaze scanning the crowd for any sign of him.

Remo nodded, his attention returning to Abby. "Are you having a good time?" he asked, his tone softening.

Abby nodded, a smile playing at her lips. "Yeah—the look on everyone’s face is priceless," she replied, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "The guilt in their eyes, the shame when they look at me. They can’t even approach me out of shame."

Remo chuckled softly, pressing a kiss to Abby’s forehead. "That’s my girl," he murmured, a sense of pride swelling within him.

"Tomorrow your face is going to be plastered on every news outlet. From wallflower to a rising phoenix? The mysterious Falcone heiress?" Remo said with a smirk, his eyes gleaming with pride.

Abby chuckled at Remo’s words, feeling a surge of excitement mingled with apprehension at the thought of being thrust into the spotlight. "It’s time everyone knows about my beautiful wife," Remo added, his tone filled with admiration.

Abby leaned into Remo’s embrace, a sense of anticipation building within her. She knew that their lives were about to change in ways they couldn’t even imagine, but with Remo by her side, she felt ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.

As they stood together, basking in the warmth of each other’s presence, Abby couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for the man who had stood by her through thick and thin, who had loved her unconditionally despite her flaws and insecurities

"Hey, I’m going to excuse myself to the washroom for a moment," Abby said, leaning in to whisper to Remo.

Remo nodded, his grip on her waist loosening slightly. "Sure, take your time," he replied, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek. "If you sense anything is amiss press the button on your bracelet."

Abby nodded, "Alright."

As Abby made her way through the crowd towards the washroom, she couldn’t shake the feeling of anticipation building within her. Despite the grandeur of the event and the excitement of the evening, a sense of unease nagged at the back of her mind.

As Abby made her way through the crowd towards the washroom, she felt a hand on her arm, stopping her in her tracks. Startled, she turned to see Alex standing before her, a determined look in his eyes.

"Alex," Abby said, her tone guarded. "What do you want?"

Alex hesitated for a moment, his gaze searching hers. "Abby, I need to talk to you," he said earnestly. "It’s important."

Abby sighed, feeling a sense of frustration rising within her. She had hoped to avoid any confrontations tonight, especially with Alex. But it seemed fate had other plans.

"I don’t have time for this, Alex," Abby replied, trying to extricate herself from his grasp. "I need to go."

But Alex’s grip on her arm tightened, his expression pleading. "Please, Abby," he urged. "Just hear me out."

Reluctantly, Abby nodded, knowing that she wouldn’t be able to shake him off so easily. With a resigned sigh, she nodded, "Okay I’m listening."

Alex sighed, his eyes filled with a mixture of desperation and longing. "Abby, I know things didn’t end well between us, but I can’t stop thinking about you," he began, his voice pleading.

Abby’s patience was wearing thin as she listened to his words, her frustration growing with each passing moment. "Alex, I really don’t have time for this," she interrupted, her tone sharp. "You had your chance, and you blew it. Now, if you’ll excuse me..."

But before she could finish her sentence, Alex reached out to touch her arm, his touch sending a shiver down her spine. "Abby, please," he implored, his voice tinged with desperation. "Just give me another chance. I’ll do whatever it takes to make things right between us."

Abby’s eyes narrowed at his words, her patience wearing thin. "Another chance?" she scoffed, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "You think I would just forget everything you put me through? You think I would just forgive and forget?"

Alex’s expression faltered for a moment, a flicker of uncertainty crossing his features. But then, his eyes darkened with determination as he took a step closer to her, his voice lowering to a husky whisper. "Abby, please," he murmured, his breath hot against her skin. "I know I messed up, but I can make it up to you. Just give me a chance to show you how much I care."

Abby’s patience snapped at his persistence, her frustration boiling over into anger. "How dare you," she hissed, her voice low and dangerous. "You think you can just waltz back into my life and expect me to fall at your feet? You’re delusional, Alex. And you’re wasting your time."

With that, Abby forcefully pushed past him, her jaw clenched tight with frustration. She couldn’t believe he had the audacity to try and seduce her after everything he had put her through. As she made her way to the washroom, she couldn’t shake the feeling of disgust that lingered in the pit of her stomach, knowing that she had once trusted him with her heart, only to have it broken into pieces. Also, she had no intention of letting him or anyone else come between her and Remo, no matter how hard they tried to seduce her back into the past
