Chapter 211: The gala

Sophia approached Abby from behind, her eyes gleaming with mischief as she cocked her head to the side and met Abby’s gaze in the reflection of the dressing room mirror. "Can you wear something a little more," she began, reaching forward to ball the material of Abby’s dress in her fist and pulling it taut against her body, "slutty? Something that shows off your curves?"

Abby turned to face Sophia, a mix of surprise and amusement playing on her features. "We’re going for slutty?" she asked, a hint of skepticism in her voice.

Sophia’s lips curled into a small grin as she bit down on her lip. "We’re going for revenge, baby," she replied, her tone teasing yet determined.

Abby chewed on her inner cheek for a moment, considering Sophia’s words. "Mm," she finally murmured, nodding in agreement. If revenge was the game, then she was ready to play.

Sophia’s mischievous grin widened as she surveyed Abby’s reflection in the full-length mirror. "Trust me, darling, revenge is a dish best served hot, and tonight, you’re going to scorch the room."

Abby raised an eyebrow skeptically, but there was a glint of excitement in her eyes. "Okay, but let’s make sure it’s classy hot, not trashy hot."

Sophia chuckled, her fingers already skimming through the racks of designer gowns. "Don’t worry, Abby dear, I’m a master of elegance with just the right amount of sass."

Sophia wasted no time in rummaging through the racks of designer gowns, her fingers dancing over the luxurious fabrics as she searched for the perfect ensemble.

She pulled out a gown in a deep, midnight blue, its fabric shimmering in the soft light of the dressing room. "This," she declared, holding it up against Abby’s figure, "is going to make you the envy of every woman in the room and the fantasy of every man."

Abby eyed the gown appreciatively, noting the plunging neckline and the daring slit that hinted at a mile-long pair of legs. "I like it," she admitted, a spark of anticipation dancing in her chest.

As Sophia helped her slip into the gown, Abby couldn’t help but feel a surge of confidence. The fabric hugged her curves in all the right places, accentuating her figure without revealing too much.

Sophia stepped back, her hands on her hips as she admired her handiwork. "You, my dear, are going to be unstoppable tonight. Now, let’s add the finishing touches."

With a flurry of brushes and expertly applied makeup, Sophia transformed Abby’s look from stunning to absolutely breathtaking. A sweep of deep burgundy lipstick completed the ensemble, adding a touch of mystery to her already magnetic presence.

As they stood side by side in front of the mirror, Abby couldn’t help but feel a sense of gratitude for her friend’s unwavering support. "Thank you, Sophia," she said softly, her voice catching in her throat.

As Abby and Sophia descended the staircase, their footsteps echoing softly against the polished marble floors, all eyes turned towards them. But it was Remo, Abby’s husband, whose reaction spoke volumes.

His breath caught in his throat as he caught sight of Abby, his eyes widening in shock at her stunning appearance. For a moment, he seemed unable to tear his gaze away, completely captivated by the sight of his wife dressed to perfection.

Abby felt a surge of satisfaction at the reaction she had elicited from Remo. It was clear that he was impressed, his admiration written plainly on his face.

Sophia nudged Abby playfully, a knowing smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Looks like we’ve left him speechless," she whispered teasingly.

Abby couldn’t help but chuckle, her heart swelling with affection for her husband. She made her way towards him, her steps graceful and confident, until she stood before him, the epitome of elegance and poise.

Remo finally found his voice, his gaze meeting Abby’s with a mixture of awe and adoration. "You look absolutely breathtaking," he breathed, his voice barely above a whisper.

Abby’s heart fluttered at his words, a warmth spreading through her chest. "Thank you," she replied softly, reaching out to take his hand in hers. "I’m glad you approve."

Remo smiled, his eyes sparkling with love. "More than approve," he murmured, leaning in to press a tender kiss to her lips.

Remo wrapped an arm around Abby’s waist, guiding her towards the waiting car parked just outside the grand entrance of their estate. As they stepped out into the cool night air, the soft glow of the streetlights casting a warm halo around them, Abby couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement coursing through her veins.

But as they approached the car, they were met with a reaction they hadn’t quite anticipated. The bodyguards, who were stationed nearby, gasped in shock as they caught sight of Abby, their eyes widening in disbelief at her stunning appearance.

Remo’s grip tightened instinctively around Abby’s waist, a protective instinct flaring up within him at the sight of their reaction. His jaw clenched with jealousy, a possessive glint flashing in his eyes as he surveyed the stunned bodyguards.

"Is there a problem?" Remo demanded, his voice low and dangerous, his gaze locked on the bodyguards with an intensity that made them shift uncomfortably under his scrutiny.

One of the bodyguards stammered out an apology, his eyes darting nervously between Remo and Abby. "N-no, sir," he managed to choke out. "We were just...surprised, is all."

Remo’s expression softened slightly, his jealousy momentarily tempered by the realization that their reaction was simply a testament to Abby’s beauty. But a flicker of possessiveness still lingered in his eyes as he turned to Abby, his voice a low growl.

"If they stare for too long, I’ll gouge their eyes out," he muttered under his breath, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his lips.

Abby couldn’t help but laugh at his fierce protectiveness, her heart swelling with love for her husband. "I think they’ve learned their lesson," she teased, pressing a gentle kiss to his cheek.

With a final warning glance at the bodyguards, Remo ushered Abby into the car, the door closing with a soft click behind them.

As the car started its journey, Remo’s bodyguards fell into formation behind them, their vigilant presence serving as a constant reminder of the danger that lurked in the shadows. Abby glanced out of the window, her thoughts consumed by the looming confrontation that awaited them at the gala.

The prospect of coming face to face with the people responsible for her father’s death sent a shiver down Abby’s spine, her stomach churning with a mix of nerves and determination. But beneath the apprehension, there was a steely resolve burning within her, a fire fueled by the desire for justice and vengeance.

She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms as she replayed the memories of her father’s betrayal and the pain it had caused her family. The anger simmered beneath the surface, a potent force driving her forward with unwavering determination.

Beside her, Remo sensed her inner turmoil, his hand reaching out to gently squeeze hers in a silent gesture of support. "We’ll get through this together," he murmured, his voice soft but filled with conviction.

Abby nodded, her gaze meeting Remo’s with a determined glint in her eyes. "I won’t rest until they pay for what they’ve done," she vowed, her voice tinged with steely resolve.

As the car continued on its journey, the weight of their mission hung heavy in the air, but Abby knew that with Remo by her side and her determination as their guide, they would stop at nothing to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Tonight, at the gala, would mark the beginning of their quest for vengeance, and Abby was ready to unleash hell upon those who had wronged her family.

As the car pulled up to the grand venue, Remo’s hand tightened around Abby’s, offering her silent reassurance as they prepared to face the storm that awaited them inside. With a deep breath, Abby stepped out of the car, her resolve steeling her against the stares and whispers that followed her every move.

Together, they walked into the venue, their presence commanding attention as heads turned and conversations faltered in their wake. The room fell into stunned silence at the grand display of their entry, all eyes fixed on Abby and Remo as they made their way through the crowd.

Abby’s uncle, who had been engrossed in conversation with a business partner, was thrown completely off guard by the sudden hush that descended upon the room. Sensing the shift in atmosphere, he turned to see Abby, his expression darkening with a mixture of surprise and displeasure.

A chill ran down Abby’s spine as she met her uncle’s gaze, the weight of their shared history hanging heavy in the air between them. But she refused to back down, her chin held high as she returned his glare with a steely resolve of her own.
