Chapter 188: Nicole

Remo’s phone buzzed with an incoming call, and he glanced at the screen to see Nicole’s name flashing. He answered with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation, knowing that her call would bring crucial information.

"Remo," Nicole’s voice greeted him, smooth and composed as ever. "I have found the rat stealing from you."

Remo’s heart skipped a beat at her words, a surge of adrenaline coursing through him. "Tell me everything," he demanded, his voice taut with urgency.

Nicole chuckled darkly on the other end of the line, a sound that sent a shiver down Remo’s spine. "This one’s been right under your nose, Remo," she said, her tone laced with amusement. "I don’t know if he’s stupid or just brazen, but he’s been skimming millions from your casino for a while now."

Remo’s blood ran cold at her words, his mind racing as he tried to comprehend the extent of the betrayal. "How?" he managed to choke out, his voice barely above a whisper.

Nicole’s voice took on a steely edge as she began to explain, her words painting a picture of deceit and treachery that left Remo reeling.

"It seems he’s been manipulating the accounting records, inflating expenses and underreporting revenues," she explained. "He’s been funneling the stolen funds into dummy accounts, covering his tracks by making it look like legitimate transactions."

Remo’s jaw clenched as he processed the information, his mind racing with the implications of the betrayal. This wasn’t just a case of a few missing chips or misplaced cash – this was systematic theft on a massive scale, orchestrated by someone within his own organization.

"And you’re sure about this?" Remo asked, his voice tinged with disbelief.

Nicole’s response was firm. "I’ve traced the transactions, followed the paper trail. There’s no doubt about it, Remo. You’ve got a rat in your midst."

Remo’s grip tightened on the phone, his mind whirling with anger and determination. "Thank you, Nicole," he said, his voice cold and controlled. "You’ve done well. I’ll take it from here."

"Hmm... now let’s talk about payment," Nicole said.

Remo’s brow furrowed at Nicole’s mention of payment. He knew that whatever she was going to ask for, he wouldn’t like it. Dealing with Nicole was always a delicate balance, like making a deal with the devil himself, and he knew that she would come to collect her dues.

"What do you want?" Remo asked, his voice guarded.

Nicole’s laughter echoed through the phone, "Oh, Remo, you know what I want," she replied coyly, her tone dripping with mischief.

Remo gritted his teeth, steeling himself for whatever demand she was about to make. He had known from the start that dealing with Nicole would come at a cost, but he couldn’t afford to let his emotions get the better of him now.

"Name your price," Remo said, his voice firm.

Nicole’s voice was smooth as silk as she delivered her ultimatum.

"You. I want you. "

Remo’s blood ran cold at Nicole’s words, a chill creeping up his spine as he processed her demand. He had known that dealing with her would come with a price, but he hadn’t anticipated this.

"What do you mean, you want me?" Remo asked, his voice low and dangerous.

Nicole’s laughter echoed through the phone, a haunting sound that sent a chill down Remo’s spine. "You know exactly what I mean, Remo," she replied, her tone dripping with malice. "I want you – body, mind, and soul."

Remo’s blood ran cold at her words, a sense of dread settling over him like a suffocating blanket.

"I can’t give you that," Remo replied, his voice firm.

"You know I can’t."

Nicole’s laughter grew louder, mocking him from the other end of the line. "Oh, but you can, Remo," she taunted. "You’ve always wanted me, deep down."

"No, I don’t Nicole," Remo replied,

"I made it clear that our relationship was over, and I meant it."

Nicole scoffed, her disdain palpable even through the phone line. "Because of that little wife of yours?" she asked, her tone dripping with sarcasm.

Remo’s jaw clenched at the mention of Abby, his protective instincts flaring at the thought of her being dragged into this twisted game. "Yes," he replied tersely, his voice tight with anger.

Nicole chuckled, the sound grating on Remo’s nerves. "Oh, don’t tell me you love her?" she taunted, her words like poison-tipped arrows aimed at his heart.

Remo’s grip tightened on the phone, his patience wearing thin. "None of your business," he shot back, his voice cold and clipped. "Now ask for something else."

There was a moment of tense silence before Nicole spoke again, her tone surprisingly casual. "Well, if you won’t give me yourself, how about you buy me food instead?" she said, her voice softening slightly. "Let’s meet up and grab some food. I miss you.No strings attached, just want to see you."

Remo’s jaw clenched at the suggestion, torn between the desire to appease Nicole and his own sense of self-preservation. He knew that meeting her would only invite trouble, but he also knew that he couldn’t afford to anger her. Nicole was a dangerous ally, but an even more dangerous enemy.

As he contemplated if he should accept, Remo’s thoughts turned to Abby. He had to protect her from Nicole’s madness, at any cost.

"Fine," he relented, his voice heavy with resignation. "I’ll meet you for dinner. But don’t expect anything more than that and after this, we’re done. I don’t ever want to hear from you again."

Nicole’s laughter echoed in his ears, a haunting reminder of the tangled web they had woven together. "We’ll see about that, Remo," she said cryptically, before ending the call.

As Remo stared down at his phone, a sense of foreboding settled over him. Meeting with Nicole again, he knew that the consequences could be far more than he bargained for. But with the fate of his casino hanging in the balance, he had no choice but to play her game – even if it meant dancing with the devil once again.
