The Twisted Obsession
Chapter 171: Changed

Chapter 171: Changed

"Why don’t you join us for lunch? It’s been a while since we had lunch together,"Mrs. Harrison, suggested.

Abby smirked inwardly. These people are shameless, she thought. When she stayed with them, they treated her like a servant. She even had to eat in the kitchen, sometimes having their leftovers

"Thank you —for the —offer, Mrs. Harrison," Abby replied politely, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "But I think I’ll —pass. I’ve had —my fill of dining —in the kitchen."

Margret’s smile faltered for a moment, a flicker of discomfort crossing her features before she quickly recovered, plastering on a false smile. "Oh, of course, dear. Another time, perhaps," she said dismissively, her attempt to brush off Abby’s pointed remark evident

As Abby stood up to leave, she casually mentioned, "I have to go, my husband is waiting for me." The Harrisons stood up too, their expressions a mix of surprise and curiosity.

"H-husband? When did you get married?" Lily stammered, her voice tinged with disbelief. She knew she had stolen Abby’s fiancé, and the thought of Abby moving on so quickly infuriated her.

Abby noticed Lily’s shocked expression, a smirk playing on her lips. "Oh, I’m sorry, did— I forget to send —you an invitation— to the wedding?" Abby taunted even though she was stammering , her tone dripping with sarcasm. "I guess— I just assumed —you were too busy stealing —other people’s betrothed to attend."

Lily’s face flushed with anger, her fists clenching at her sides. "How dare you!" she seethed, her voice trembling with rage.

Abby shrugged nonchalantly, enjoying the rise she was getting out of Lily. "Oh, relax, Lily. I’m sure you’ll find someone else to ruin soon enough. It seems to be your specialty, after all."

Lily’s eyes blazed with fury as she lunged forward, her hand raised to slap Abby across the face. But before her palm could make contact, it was intercepted by the man Abby had brought with her. With lightning-fast reflexes, he caught Lily’s hand mid-air, halting her attack in its tracks.

Startled, Lily’s eyes widened in shock as her hand was firmly held by the man’s grip. She struggled to free herself, but his grasp was unyielding. With a swift motion, he released her hand, causing Lily to stumble backward and lose her balance.

With a yelp of surprise, Lily fell to the ground, her dignity wounded as she landed in an undignified heap on the floor. She glared up at the man and Abby, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment and humiliation.

Abby looked down at Lily with a smirk, her satisfaction evident in her eyes. "Looks like you need to watch your step, dear cousin," she taunted, relishing in her rival’s moment of defeat.

As Lily struggled to regain her composure, Abby and the man stood over her, their expressions a mix of amusement and superiority. Lily’s cheeks burned with embarrassment as she shot daggers at Abby with her eyes.

"You’ll pay for this, Abby," Lily spat, her voice trembling with anger. "Mark my words, I won’t forget what you’ve done."

Abby simply shrugged, unfazed by Lily’s threats. "Oh, please, Lily. Spare me the melodrama," she retorted dismissively. "You brought this upon yourself."

With that, Abby turned on her heel and strode out of the room, the man following closely behind her. Lily seethed with frustration, her fists clenched at her sides as she watched them go.

Cage rose from his seat, his expression grim. "I should go too. I’ll be in touch regarding the company shares," he said, casting a disdainful glance at Lily still on the floor. With a curt nod, he turned and walked away, leaving the room in silence.

As Lily’s mother rushed to her side, concern etched on her face, she extended a hand to help her daughter up from the ground. "Are you okay, sweetie?" she asked, her voice filled with worry.

Lily accepted her mother’s assistance, allowing herself to be pulled upright. She brushed off her clothes with a scowl, still seething with anger over the humiliation she had just endured. "I’m fine, Mom," she muttered through gritted teeth. "Just a little shaken."

Her mother frowned sympathetically, wrapping an arm around Lily’s shoulders in a comforting gesture. "That was quite a fall," she remarked, casting a glance towards the door where Abby had disappeared. "What happened?"

Lily’s fists clenched at her sides as she recounted the events that had transpired, her voice tinged with bitterness.

Lily’s mother whispered her observation with a mix of concern and bewilderment. "Abby seems like a whole different person," she mused, her voice barely above a whisper.

Lily nodded in agreement, still reeling from the encounter. "I know," she replied, her voice tinged with disbelief. "She used to be so timid and submissive, but now... it’s like she’s transformed into someone else entirely."

Her mother frowned, her brow furrowing with worry. "I wonder what could have caused such a change in her," she pondered aloud, her thoughts drifting to the possible reasons behind Abby’s sudden shift in behavior.

Lily shook her head, her mind swirling with unanswered questions. "I don’t know, Mom," she admitted with a sigh. "But whatever the reason, I don’t like it. Not one bit."

"I agree, Lily," her mother replied, her voice tinged with concern. "Something doesn’t feel right about all of this. We need to keep a close eye on Abby and figure out what’s going on."

Lily nodded in agreement, a determined glint in her eyes. "I won’t let her get away with this," she declared.

Mr. Harrison, who had been quietly watching the scene, frowned in confusion as he saw Lily and her mother leave the room looking upset.

"What’s up, honey?" Margret, his wife, asked, noticing his worried face.

Harrison shook his head, feeling uneasy. "Something feels off," he said, his voice low and tense. "Abby’s acting strange, and that guy with her... I don’t trust him."

Margret’s eyes widened with concern. "You think they’re planning something?" she asked, her voice tense with worry.

Harrison nodded, his expression serious. "Could be," he replied, his tone determined. "We better keep an eye on them. I have a feeling there’s more to this than meets the eye."
