The Twisted Obsession -
Chapter 170: Shares
Chapter 170: Shares
Abby’s smile widened, a predatory glint in her eyes as she leaned forward, her voice dropping to a low, dangerous whisper. "I’ll sell you my shares of the company," she stated bluntly, her words cutting through the tension like a knife. "At a price, of course."
Harrison’s eyes narrowed as he considered Abby’s proposition, his mind racing with possibilities. He knew there had to be a catch, but the thought of gaining control over the company was too tempting to resist.
"And what, pray tell, would this price be?" he inquired, his tone cautious.
Abby smiled as she leaned back in her chair, her eyes glittering with satisfaction. "Uncle," she purred, her voice dripping with sarcasm, "the price? Well, let’s just say it’s a little something called compensation ."
Harrison’s brows furrowed in confusion, a flicker of apprehension creeping into his expression. "Compensation?" he repeated, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
Abby nodded, her smile widening into a smirk as she delivered her ultimatum. "That’s right," she declared, her voice ringing with authority. "I’ll sell you my shares of the company for a cool twenty million dollars. Cash. No negotiations."
Harrison’s eyes widened in shock at Abby’s audacious demand, his mind reeling at the staggering figure. But even as his instinctive greed surged, a nagging sense of dread gnawed at the pit of his stomach. He knew that accepting Abby’s offer would be a bitter pill to swallow, but the thought of losing control over the company was too much to bear.
"Twenty million dollars?" he sputtered, his voice betraying his disbelief.
Abby’s smirk deepened, her gaze unwavering as she locked eyes with her uncle. "Take it or leave it," she said, her tone final. "But remember, time is important . The longer you hesitate, the higher the price goes."
Margret interjected, her voice laced with concern. "Abby, dear, isn’t that a bit unreasonable? Twenty million is a substantial sum. Perhaps we could negotiate a more reasonable price?"
Abby’s smirk faltered for a moment, a flicker of irritation crossing her features before she quickly regained her composure. "Unreasonable?" she retorted, her tone laced with disdain. "Oh, Margret, forgive me for expecting fair compensation for what’s rightfully mine. But I suppose if the infamous Harrison family can’t afford a measly couple of million for a few shares, perhaps they’re not as well-off as they pretend to be."
"Of course we are!" Margret retorted defiantly, her voice tinged with indignation. "But—"
"You’re?" Abby interrupted, a sly grin playing at the corners of her lips. "Then let’s make it thirty million. I was being generous. I didn’t know you people were rich," she added, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
Margret’s eyes widened in disbelief at Abby’s audacity, her jaw dropping slightly before she regained her composure. "Thirty million?!" she exclaimed, her voice rising with incredulity. "That’s outrageous, Abby! We can’t possibly—"
"Can’t possibly what, Margret?" Abby interjected, her smirk widening into a smug grin. "Afford it? Oh, I’m sure you’ll find a way. After all, the Harrison family is known for their wealth and influence, aren’t they?"
Harrison clenched his fists beneath the table, his patience wearing thin at Abby’s taunts. But he knew that losing his temper would only play into her hands. With a forced calmness, he addressed Abby, his voice laced with thinly veiled frustration.
"Abby, this is preposterous," he stated firmly, his tone a thinly veiled warning. "You know as well as I do that thirty million is—"
"Thirty million or nothing, please," Abby interrupted, her tone firm and unwavering. "If you don’t want I will sell it in the market. I’m sure some of our rivals will love to pay double the amount."
Abby felt a surge of confidence wash over her as she caught Tony’s subtle nod of approval. They had orchestrated this entire charade meticulously, and seeing it play out according to plan filled her with a sense of satisfaction.
Glancing back at Harrison, Abby concealed a smirk behind a facade of calm resolve. She knew that if she were to retain her father’s shares, Harrison would never let her go. He would continue to hound her, relentlessly pursuing his own selfish agenda.
But they had anticipated this, had planned for it. This meeting was merely a trap, baited with the promise of an easy victory for Harrison. Little did he know, he was walking straight into their carefully laid scheme.
As Harrison’s greed blinded him to the true nature of their intentions, Abby felt a sense of happiness wash over her. They had him right where they wanted him,
"Abby, are you sure about this?" Cage asked, worried. "Giving Harrison control of your dad’s shares might not be smart. You should get what’s rightfully yours."
Abby looked at Cage calmly. "Cage, let’s be real. Running a company is hard. I’d rather relax by the pool than deal with all the paperwork."
Cage frowned, torn between his duty and the plan. "But Abby," he tried again, "you can’t just give up control of your dad’s legacy. Think about what might happen—"
Abby waved him off casually. "Relax, Cage. Uncle Harrison will do fine. He’s always had the family’s interests at heart, right?"
Cage knew Harrison’s true nature, but he had to play along. "Okay, Abby," he reluctantly agreed. "If that’s what you want, I’ll go along with it. But be careful. This could cause problems later."
Harrison watched Abby with suspicion, his mind racing as he tried to decipher her true intentions. Her nonchalant demeanor and apparent willingness to hand over control of the company shares seemed almost too good to be true.
"You know, Abby," Harrison began, his voice tinged with a hint of skepticism, "I must admit, I didn’t expect you to be so... accommodating. Are you sure you’re not just playing along to save face?"
Abby met Harrison’s gaze head-on, her expression a mask of innocence as she replied, "Uncle, you wound me with your skepticism. I assure you, I have no ulterior motives. I simply want what’s best for the family, and if that means letting you take the reins, then so be it."
Harrison’s suspicion lingered, but he couldn’t deny the allure of gaining control over the company. With a calculating gleam in his eyes, he leaned back in his chair, a smug smile curling his lips.
"Well, in that case, Abby, I graciously accept your offer," he declared, his tone oozing with faux magnanimity. "Rest assured, I will do everything in my power to ensure the Falcone legacy remains.
"I know you will," Abby said with a smirk.
