Chapter 159: Run away
"Would you care to dance?I liked dancing with you the last time."
Remo’s voice held a sense of anticipation as he extended his hand towards her.
Pausing for a moment, she observed the faint flush on his cheeks and the uncertainty in his eyes. Despite her own nerves, she couldn’t resist the opportunity to share this moment with him.
With a hesitant smile, she accepted his hand, feeling the warmth of his touch as their fingers intertwined. Remo’s gaze searched hers, silently asking for permission to lead.
"I’ll be honest," she admitted, feeling a surge of honesty in the air, "I’m not exactly the smoothest dancer."
Remo’s grin widened, his confidence evident as he drew her closer, his hand finding its place on the small of her back.
Leaning in, he pressed a soft kiss to her cheek before whispering, "Well, lucky for you, I’ve got a few moves up my sleeve. Just trust me and follow my lead."
"Trust you and follow your lead," she echoed, feeling a mixture of excitement and apprehension building inside her. "I’ll do my best, but no promises."
Remo noticed her tension and reached out to comfort her. "Hey, relax," he said gently, offering her a reassuring smile.
"Just nervous I’ll step on your toes," Abby tried to joke, but her words came out thick, and she had to clear her throat, feeling her face grow warm with embarrassment.
As they began to sway to the music playing on the yatch, Abby couldn’t help but feel a rush of nerves coursing through her. With each step, she feared she might step on Remo’s toes, her movements awkward and uncoordinated.
Sure enough, her foot grazed his, and Remo let out a playful laugh. "Watch out there, Abby," he teased, his tone lighthearted as he guided her through the dance. "I think you’re trying to sabotage my feet."
Abby felt her cheeks flush with embarrassment, but she couldn’t help but laugh along with him. "Sorry about that," she replied, her voice tinged with amusement. "I guess I still have a lot to learn."
Remo flashed her a reassuring smile, his grip tightening slightly as he led her in a gentle twirl. "Don’t worry," he reassured her, his tone warm and encouraging. "You’re doing great. Just relax and let the music guide you. Also you did great on our date the last time."
With Remo’s encouragement, Abby felt herself relaxing into the dance, her movements becoming more fluid and confident with each step. Despite her initial apprehension, she found herself enjoying the moment.
He buried his face in the crook of her neck, turning his head to plant soft kisses against her cheek. "Beautiful," he murmured, his breath warm against her skin. "But you always look beautiful."
Abby’s head came to rest on his chest, her fingers tangling in the strands of his hair as she listened to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. It was hard to believe that he found her beautiful everytime he said.
A small hum escaped Remo’s lips as Abby threaded her fingers through his hair, the sound of his voice joining in with the music that filled the air. They swayed together in a slow circle.
For a while, they remained locked in their own little world, enveloped in each other’s warmth and comfort.
"What if we just stayed here?" Abby mumbled softly, her words barely audible above the music. Remo placed a tender kiss against the side of her head, his lips brushing against her hair as he replied, "You want to disappear? Leave everything behind?"
Abby’s heart skipped a beat at the thought, the idea of escaping from the harsh realities of life tempting her like never before. She buried her face deeper into Remo’s chest, relishing the feeling of safety and security he provided.
"It’s kind of thrilling to think about," Abby admitted, a playful glint in her eyes. "I often imagine just escaping, starting fresh somewhere far away, where nobody knows anything about me. No expectations, no pressure."
Remo’s voice turned serious as he responded, "Don’t even joke about it. If you ever had such thoughts, promise me you’d tell me first."
Abby’s hands gently cradled his face, her touch both tender and reassuring. "But isn’t the allure of running away that no one knows where you’ve gone? Also no one would even look for me or come find me."
"No, don’t talk like that," Remo interjected firmly, his voice betraying a hint of anxiety as he swallowed hard.
"I would come finding you, Abby," he continued, his tone serious. "If you disappeared I will move mountains to find you and bring you back safely." Gently, he lifted her chin with a knuckle, his eyes searching hers for reassurance. "You know that, right?"
Abby smiled, "Yeah"
Remo’s voice turned serious as he responded, "Good. Don’t even joke about it. If you ever had such thoughts, promise me you’d tell me first."
Abby’s smirk softened into a smile as she ran her thumbs over his cheeks. "Fine," she relented, leaning in for a kiss but stopping just shy of their lips touching. "If I ever entertain the idea of disappearing into the unknown, you’ll be the first to know, deal?"
"Deal," Remo agreed, his grin returning. "But how about this: instead of running away alone, we could run away together. What do you say?"
Abby’s heart skipped a beat at the suggestion, a surge of excitement coursing through her. "Now that sounds like a plan," she replied, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "Let’s do it—after the revenge of course "
"Good," Remo replied with conviction, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
Remo’s arms wrapped around Abby, pulling her close as they moved together in sync. The soft melody of the music filled the air, wrapping them in its embrace as they moved as one.
Abby felt a surge of emotion welling up inside her as she gazed into Remo’s eyes, feeling as though she could get lost in their depths forever.
"You know," Remo said softly, his voice barely above a whisper, "I could dance like this with you forever."
Abby smiled, her heart swelling with love for the man who held her so tenderly. "I wouldn’t mind that at all," she replied, her voice filled with warmth
