Chapter 153: Vacation with an ex^

As Remo and Abby sat down for breakfast in their elegant dining room, the morning sunlight streaming through the windows cast a warm glow over the room.

The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, mingling with the tantalizing scent of pancakes and syrup.

Remo glanced up from his newspaper, a twinkle of excitement in his eyes. "So, Abby," he began, his voice filled with enthusiasm, "I’ve been thinking about where we should go for our vacation."

Abby looked up from her plate, a small smile playing on her lips. She loved the idea of a vacation, a chance to escape the stresses of daily life and spend quality time with Remo.

"Where are you thinking?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.

Remo leaned forward, his expression animated as he listed off a series of exotic destinations. "We could go to the Maldives, or maybe Bali," he suggested, his voice tinged with excitement. "Or how about a safari in Africa, or a luxury cruise in the Mediterranean?"

Abby listened to Remo’s suggestions with interest, but she couldn’t help but feel a pang of unease at the thought of such grandiose and extravagant vacations. While she appreciated Remo’s generosity and willingness to spoil her, she longed for something simpler, more intimate.

"Those all sound amazing," Abby replied, her tone hesitant, "but I was thinking... maybe we could go somewhere quieter. Somewhere more... secluded."

Remo’s eyebrows shot up in surprise, clearly caught off guard by Abby’s suggestion. "Quiet?" he echoed, his voice tinged with disbelief. "But Abby, we have the means to go anywhere in the world. Why settle for quiet when we could have luxury?"

Abby shook her head, her resolve firm. "I know Remo, and I appreciate everything you do for me," she said earnestly, "but all I want is to be with you. Just the two of us, away from the hustle and bustle of the world."

Remo studied Abby for a moment, his gaze softening as he took in her sincerity. He realized that for Abby, the true luxury lay not in extravagant destinations or opulent accommodations, but in the simple pleasure of spending time together.

"Alright, Abby," Remo said with a smile, reaching across the table to take her hand in his. "Wherever you want to go, I’m with you."

Abby thought for a moment, her mind drifting to a place that held a special significance for her. "How about a cozy beachside cottage in the quaint town of Carmel-by-the-Sea?" she suggested, her eyes lighting up with excitement.

"We could spend our days strolling along the pristine beaches, exploring the charming streets lined with art galleries and boutique shops, and enjoying delicious seafood dinners overlooking the ocean."

Remo’s eyes widened in surprise at Abby’s suggestion, but he couldn’t deny the appeal of a quiet beach getaway.

"Carmel-by-the-Sea?" he echoed, a smile spreading across his face. "That sounds perfect, Abby. A peaceful retreat by the beach, just the two of us."

Abby’s face lit up with a smile at Remo’s enthusiastic response. She felt a sense of relief knowing that he was open to her idea of a quieter, more intimate vacation.

"I’m glad you like the idea," Abby said, her voice filled with warmth. "I think it’ll be wonderful to have some time to ourselves."

Remo nodded in agreement, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "Absolutely," he replied, his tone filled with anticipation.

"I can already picture us relaxing on the beach, listening to the sound of the waves crashing against the shore.

Abby couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight of Remo’s beaming smile as he talked about their upcoming getaway.

His excitement was infectious, and she found herself eagerly looking forward to their time together in Carmel-by-the-Sea.

"You look so happy," Abby remarked, her heart swelling with affection as she gazed at Remo across the table. "I can’t wait to spend this time with you."

Remo’s smile widened at Abby’s words, his eyes sparkling with adoration. "I’m happiest when I’m with you, Abby," he said sincerely, reaching across the table to take her hand in his. "This vacation is going to be amazing."

Tony’s footsteps echoed in the room as he entered, his eyes scanning the scene before him. He couldn’t help but feel a sense of relief wash over him as he saw Abby’s bright smile and Remo’s cheerful demeanor.

"Abby, Remo," Tony greeted them warmly, a smile spreading across his face. "I’m glad to see you both in such good spirits."

Abby nodded, her smile widening at Tony’s words. "Thank you, Tony," she replied, her voice filled with genuine happiness. "We’re just excited about our upcoming vacation."

Tony’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Vacation?" he echoed, a hint of curiosity in his voice. "Where are you two off to?"

"Carmel-by-the-Sea," Remo chimed in, a grin spreading across his face. "Abby suggested it, and I think it’s going to be perfect."

Tony nodded in approval, impressed by Abby’s choice. "That sounds lovely," he remarked, his tone sincere. "I’m sure you both will have a wonderful time."

"You’re coming along and Olivia too." Remo casually replied.

Tony’s expression shifted from one of contentment to one of shock as Remo casually mentioned Olivia’s involvement in the trip. He felt a knot form in his stomach at the unexpected news, his mind racing with a flurry of conflicting emotions.

"Olivia?" Tony repeated, his voice tinged with surprise and disbelief. "You mean Olivia, as in...?"

Remo nodded, oblivious to Tony’s inner turmoil. "Yes, Olivia will be joining us," he confirmed, a smile playing on his lips. "She’s going to be Abby’s bodyguard for the trip."

Tony’s heart sank at the mention of Olivia’s name. Memories of their past relationship flooded his mind, along with the pain and heartache that had accompanied their breakup.

He had never expected to come face to face with Olivia again, especially not in such close quarters.

"I... I don’t think that’s a good idea," Tony stammered, his voice strained with apprehension. "I don’t think I can..."

But before Tony could finish his sentence, Remo interrupted with a reassuring smile. "It’ll be fine, Tony," he said confidently. "Olivia is a professional, and I trust her to keep Abby safe. Besides, we could use an extra set of hands on the trip."

Tony’s protests fell on deaf ears as Remo and Abby continued to discuss their vacation plans, leaving him feeling helpless and resigned to his fate. He knew that as Remo’s right hand man, he had no choice but to go along with the arrangements, even if it meant facing his past and the woman who had once held his heart.
