Chapter 121: Unexpected Visitor
The tension in the air was palpable as the figure in the jeep emerged, clad in a nose mask and cap, his hands raised in a gesture of surrender. Remo’s men, their weapons trained on the stranger, exchanged wary glances, uncertain of what to make of the unexpected encounter.
"Who are you?" one of the men demanded, his voice laced with authority as he approached the stranger cautiously.
The man in the nose mask remained composed, his expression unreadable as he met the guard’s gaze. "No harm intended," he replied calmly, his words measured. "I’ve heard your boss has been searching for me."
Remo’s men exchanged incredulous glances, taken aback by the stranger’s nonchalant demeanor in the face of their weapons. "And who might you be?" another guard inquired, his tone edged with suspicion.
The man in the nose mask offered no immediate answer, his silence hanging heavy in the air. Instead, he locked eyes with the guards, his gaze unwavering. "Tell your boss Mr. Falcone’s lawyer is here," he finally stated, his words cutting through the tension like a blade.
Remo’s men exchanged puzzled looks, the mention of Mr. Falcone sending a ripple of uncertainty through their ranks. As they mulled over the stranger’s words. They had been searching for him and they couldn’t find him but he came to find them?
One of them ran to Remo’s car to deliver the news.
The guard’s urgent knock on the window jolted Remo from his contemplation, his eyes narrowing as he turned to face the approaching figure. With a quick nod to his driver, the window slid open, allowing the guard to deliver his message.
"Sir, we have an unexpected visitor," the guard announced, his voice tense with anticipation. "He claims to be Mr. Falcone’s lawyer."
Remo’s frown deepened at the news, a knot of unease forming in the pit of his stomach. How could the lawyer have found them before they had even located him? The thought nagged at him, stirring a sense of foreboding.
Remo’s brow furrowed in confusion as he processed the news delivered by his subordinate. "He came to find me?" he repeated, his voice tinged with disbelief.
The guard nodded, his expression mirroring Remo’s confusion. "Yes, sir," he confirmed, his tone hesitant. "He specifically asked for you."
A sense of unease settled over Remo as he pondered the implications of the lawyer’s unexpected visit. Why would Mr. Falcone’s lawyer seek him out directly, especially when Remo had been the one searching for him? The situation seemed increasingly perplexing, raising more questions than answers.
"Did he say anything else?" Remo inquired, his mind racing with possibilities.
The guard shook his head. "No, sir. He simply mentioned that he was here to see you," he replied, his tone uncertain.
Remo’s instructions were clear and concise as he conveyed his message to the guard. "Tell the lawyer it’s not safe to talk here. If he wants to discuss matters, we’ll meet at our hideout," he instructed, his tone firm with resolve. "You’ll drive him there blindfolded. We’ll talk once he arrives."
The guard nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation as he relayed Remo’s message to the lawyer. After a moment of contemplation, the lawyer agreed to the terms, recognizing the need for discretion in their dealings.
With a sense of urgency, the guard led the lawyer to one of the waiting cars, where he was blindfolded before they set off towards Remo’s hideout.
With the lawyer blindfolded and their route carefully planned to maintain secrecy, the convoy reversed direction and set off towards the undisclosed location of Remo’s hideout.
Remo watched as the guard relayed his message to the lawyer, his expression guarded as he awaited the lawyer’s response. When the lawyer contemplated for a moment before nodding in agreement, Remo felt a surge of anticipation mingled with caution. It was a risky move, inviting a stranger to their hideout, but it was the only way to ensure their safety and privacy.
As the guard ushered the lawyer into one of the cars, Remo’s mind raced with possibilities. Blindfolded and disoriented, the lawyer would have no choice but to trust them, placing his fate in their hands.
With a silent nod to his men, Remo watched as they reversed their direction, veering off the familiar path and heading towards their secluded hideout. The journey was tense, each passing moment fraught with uncertainty as they navigated through the winding streets.
Finally, they arrived at their destination, the imposing silhouette of the hideout looming before them. With practiced efficiency, Remo’s men escorted the blindfolded lawyer inside, ensuring their secrecy remained intact
As they removed the blindfold and revealed the face of the lawyer, Remo’s frown deepened at the sight of the young man before him. Despite his youthfulness, there was an air of confidence and cunning about him that belied his appearance.
As Remo watched, the young man’s smirk widened, as he removed his mask and cap, revealing a face that didn’t look any older than Remo’s elder brother Matteo. The sight only deepened Remo’s confusion. Based on the photos Tony had shown him, this was indeed the lawyer they had been trying so hard to find. But in person, he appeared much younger than Remo had anticipated.
Remo’s frown deepened as he studied the young man before him, his thoughts racing with questions. How could someone so young be the elusive lawyer they had been searching for?
"Hello, Mr. Quinn or Alfonso," the young man greeted, his voice smooth and self-assured. "Nice to meet you."
A sense of unease settled over Remo as the young man smirked, his gaze locking onto Remo’s with unsettling intensity. The familiarity in his tone sent a shiver down Remo’s spine, triggering a wave of apprehension.
"Who are you?" Remo demanded, his voice firm but tinged with suspicion. "And how do you know who I am?"
The young man’s smirk widened, a glint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "Let’s just say I have a talent for uncovering secrets," he replied cryptically, his tone dripping with confidence.
Remo’s jaw tensed as he struggled to maintain his composure, his instincts urging him to tread carefully in the presence of this enigmatic stranger. With every passing moment, the mystery surrounding the young man deepened, leaving Remo grappling for answers in a sea of uncertainty.
"How is Abby?" the lawyer inquired, his voice laced with an unexpected tenderness that sent a pang of discomfort through Remo.
"She’s fine," Remo replied curtly, his tone guarded. "Just mourning. Her father died yesterday."
The lawyer’s reaction was palpable, his features tightening with a hint of apprehension. Remo watched him closely, sensing there was more to the lawyer’s concern than met the eye.
"Yes, I know," the lawyer responded, his voice strained. "That’s why I came to find you."
