Chapter 92: Chapter 92: Return to the Ginger Family (2)
Knowing she was coming back, Charlotte Chester, Zuri Ginger, and Bob Ginger were all in the living room.
They all looked up at her as they heard the commotion.
Mia Ginger’s clothes were still dripping with water, her hair was wet, as she walked in from the rain curtain outside, looking even more miserable than the first time.
Charlotte’s brow furrowed immediately, lightly reprimanding, "What have you turned into this ghostly sight? Didn’t your dad say Little Sutton was picking you up?"
"No umbrella." Mia said as she headed straight upstairs.
"Wait, wait." Charlotte hurriedly stood up and said, "Let Sage get you a dry towel, wipe yourself before you go up, the carpet in the corridor is hard to clean."
"Mom," Mia took the towel and wiped her hair, suddenly glanced at her casually and said, "I think you’re quite interesting."
"What?" Charlotte was momentarily stunned.
"A daughter comes back soaked from outside," Mia said slowly while wiping her hair, "Normally, a mother would first worry about whether she’ll catch a cold, you’re different, you care about the carpet first."
"..."
Charlotte’s face suddenly turned ugly.
Just about to explode, Bob Ginger, who was sitting on the sofa, suddenly stood up and shouted, "So annoying, what’s there to argue about as soon as she’s back."
Mia looked at him and snickered.
This was the first time they had met since the Jade Bracelet incident.
Seeing she was fine, not at all like someone who had just lost her mother, Bob Ginger inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief, then felt guilty, and directly turned his head to go upstairs.
Mia also went straight upstairs.
"Hey... I’m talking to you!"
Behind her, Charlotte was about to speak, but Mia suddenly turned back to look at Sage beside her, smiled and said, "Make me a bowl of ginger cola, deliver it to my room in half an hour, thanks."
"Yes, Second Miss."
Sage responded and, holding the towel, headed toward the kitchen.
"I was saying..."
Charlotte was about to speak again, but Mia turned her head directly.
Not hurrying her pace, nor replying, she went straight upstairs.
She somewhat understood that her mother had never felt even a trace of guilt or love for her; all kindness or malice was prioritized by benefit.
Zuri Ginger had money, able to satisfy her inflated vanity.
She herself couldn’t do that for now.
She couldn’t constantly flatter her with sweet words either, and with the engagement now gone, she was of no use to her at all.
Maybe Aiden Jiang had already warned her repeatedly, yet as soon as she came in, she could nitpick and dispose of her, without caring whether she felt sadness or loss.
This selfish and cold mother, huh, it must have been hard for Zuri Ginger to coax her day in and day out for ten years.
Mia went self-absorbed upstairs.
Charlotte was so angry her nose was crooked, spinning on the spot, furiously said, "This is outrageous, simply outrageous, is she trying to overturn heaven?!"
"Mom, calm down," Zuri Ginger quickly stood up to support her, comforting, "She’s also just lost her foster mother, might be feeling upset inside, speaking with sarcasm, don’t mind her."
"Foster mother?" Charlotte was so outraged she nearly jumped, grumbled, "Don’t even know who bore her for ten months, only needing a few sweet words from that little slut to run off with her, learning nothing good but all sorts of bad habits like talking back, what nonsense!"
Her voice was so loud, it could be heard from the first floor to the second.
Mia stood leaning against the wall at the corner of the stairs, her hand hanging by her side couldn’t help but clench tighter, then she turned around, just encountering Bob Ginger coming out again.
Bob Ginger’s expression was complicated, passed her and shouted downstairs, "Mom, can you stop already? It’s just too noisy, I still haven’t done my summer homework yet!"
Charlotte had always doted on him, immediately fell silent.
Bob Ginger took a heavy breath, once he turned back, Mia had already closed the door to her room.
