Chapter 106: Chapter 106 Concept Switch (1)
Mia Ginger stood up, and the phone on the table suddenly rang.
She leaned over to glance at it, took the phone to the window, and called out, "Brother Jackson."
There was a hint of secret joy in her voice.
"There’s an emergency surgery," Koa Jackson’s voice carried a slight apology, "I can’t get away for now, I called Caiden Ward, he will be your dance partner for a while."
"Okay," Mia Ginger looked out at the evening glow brightening the dusk, nodded, and said, "Work is important."
She glanced at her phone and hung up the call.
She felt a bit disappointed, not seriously, just a little.
Through the phone, Koa Jackson could sense her emotions, he buttoned his shirt, thought for a moment, and made another call.
Madam Ward was surprised, smiled, and said, "Koa."
"Aunt-in-law," Koa Jackson politely addressed, asked, "Are you going to Miss Ginger’s birthday party tonight?"
"Yes," Madam Ward smiled and said, "Isn’t the biological daughter found? There should be quite a few invites; I’m on my way now."
"Okay," Koa Jackson pondered and smiled slightly, "The girl who came back is named Mia Ginger, she’s a bit stubborn, so when you arrive at the party, please do help her out a little."
"Is that so?" Madam Ward laughed playfully, "I heard from Kari... the engagement is off?"
Koa Jackson was slightly stunned, "That’s unrelated."
"It’s rare for you to ask someone a favor," Madam Ward adopted a more serious tone, "I understand, don’t worry."
"Alright, I have to get to the surgery."
Koa Jackson hung up the call, closed the cupboard, and headed to the operating room.
——
Ginger Family, the hall.
Zuri Ginger wore a green floral strapless dress, stepping in seven-centimeter high heels, gracefully clinking glasses with acquaintances.
She was the foster daughter, and every year, she had a birthday party on time, but none was as grand as this one, attracting many business figures.
Yet it wasn’t for her.
Zuri Ginger’s fingers tightened around the wine glass, smiling as she approached some friends.
The speaking group were her friends from the author circle, and aside from her, the most notable was a girl in a sky blue pencil dress, her best friend—Grassy.
Seeing her approach, Grassy gently tugged her arm, inquiring with her eyes.
Zuri Ginger nodded towards her.
Grassy clinked glasses with her, smiling brightly.
"What mystery are you two plotting?" another nearby person winked, curiously asking, "Why haven’t we seen your sister?"
"She’s getting her makeup done upstairs." Zuri Ginger smiled and said, "Maybe she thinks the makeup I did for her was too light, not satisfied."
"Too light?" Grassy gave her a sideways glance and said speechlessly, "Didn’t you say her foster mother just passed, and she’s in a bad mood? How does she feel like putting on heavy makeup? Unbelievable."
"Life has to go on," Zuri Ginger indifferently looked at her, "Besides, this is her first birthday party since she came back, so it should be grand. I even specifically chose a big red dress for her. You know her foster mother was quite unbearable, she lacks confidence, the other day she pulled me to dance practice, stepped on my feet till they were swollen and still didn’t learn."
"You’re silly!" Grassy bumped her, "Why let her step all over you, get a teacher."
"I did," Zuri Ginger said helplessly, "and she drove the teacher away in anger."
