Chapter 87: Hunting Part 2

The staggering round of applause for that kill was deafly silent, as I spent a few moments checking his body for any useful shit.

Not that I could do that for long, as before I knew it, his flesh and bones vaporised into nothing.

“You know, I really need to figure out a way for them to stop doing that.”

(“ Why? Want to strip them naked? ”)

Fuck it, sure. Do that and throw them over the wall after their faces are recorded so at least someone with skills can do some investigating.

(“ Wow, going all out huh ”)

The disappearing act that some members of Dominous Hood did was quite annoying. Not every corpse of there’s did it, but any important-looking fuck’s did. The reason for it kinda made sense, no body made it harder to track any of the potential loose ends. But for my own reasonably selfish reasons, I wished they didn’t bloody disappear into dust, it would’ve made my job much easier.

Who knows, maybe one I’ll stab one in a good spot and it will disable whatever causes it.

(“ Wishful thinking ”)

Indeed.

My first four kills on the first segment went well, but I could’ve done better with the tough guy. It would’ve been better if I used more mana and struck quicker instead of playing it slightly slowly.

Time to move.

The noise started to pick up. Explosion and magic had begun being fired off all over the joint. The new wave of critters had landed on the segment, and a few of the ones who had survived and were keeping low had introduced themselves.

I knew there was nothing around here, so I moved to a different area. Staying low to the ground added extra security, but I felt that I needed to move faster.

With a small running start, I jumped off the group and leapt onto and off the buildings. While doing that, I locked onto my next target, a bunch of pirates who ran into a destroyed building that had a new crumbling hole that was acting as a nice window for me to see in.

I flew towards the hole in the building, and I could see the pirates inside already panicking about something.

“Fuck, get to position–!” I cut off the man as I fell into position from above, and stabbed him through the helmet.

One of them noticed and screamed, “Argh! Scramble!”

Not today.

I [Quiet Dash] over and shattered through the walls of ice they quickly constructed. My arm was outstretched as I slammed the arrow into the head of the pest.

Footsteps already echoed around, as people ran towards my location to see what was up. Swinging my arm, the body fell off the tip of the arrow, and I circled around with [Quiet Dash] to continue the killing spree.

Three people moved in from different directions, so I picked them off one by one.

The first girl was an easy target as I stabbed her in the back before she even noticed anything; the second and third were immediately alerted by some skill when she died, but that was no bother.

They turned to face where the girl had been slain, and I was already gone.

One was able to react in time, raising his rifle as I slammed down into him. However, his attempt proved futile, as my strength overpowered him and my weapon broke into his helmet.

Once that kill was confirmed, I moved towards the third. He was a little bit away in the building with many broken walls.

He stared around, swinging his body wildly, trying to at least see where I was going to strike from. I wasn’t even trying that hard to be stealthy; I just wanted to move in the most efficient way with my resources.

Unable to lock on to my location, the last man fired a wave of lightning and fire in all directions.

The clash of elemental energies didn’t worry me, as I dashed through with my skills and a sharp barrier of starlight.

Bursting through the energies, I finished him off with another stab in the head.

This weapon is stupidly sharp.

I could break through items like these helmets with a concentrated enough blade of starlight, but that would’ve cost a lot, and another downside was that I wouldn’t be able to reshape them.

Another fight done. I activated [Star Mapping] again to get an update on my immediate surroundings.

What perfect timing.

There was a person in fashionable drab armour and a camouflaging cloak moving just outside the building.A jagged force of starlight enveloped me, and I crashed through the wall of the building, grabbed onto the Dominous Hood member’s chest, slamming us both into the ground, and with my other hand, stabbed the arrow right into their head.

Quickly, I got up and moved around again. The noise had increased as everyone was getting involved in the action.

Numerous ships were flying around the first segment; most were in combat with other ships, but a few had their cannons locked at the first segment. Ready to snipe their version of hostiles.

A G2 mech disengaged its jetpacks and slid across the ground. Its guns were already up and firing large bursts of mana at the running pirates.

Then, in the distance, a larger pirate ship was shot out of the sky; it spiralled down, bounced off the tower barrier and collided with a street.

(“ Going to join in any of the conflicts? ”)

My eyes washed over two armed forces fighting near the entrance of the tower and another group splitting off towards a side building near the tower.

Maybe. I just have to deal with these goons first.

I saw another small group dashing through the streets–another easy target I wanted to deal with first.
