Side Chapter Metous 8: Fighting Stars
Oh shit!
Tyell's legs were already giving out, but he couldn't stop now.
Tyell ran along the wall, then jumped off it for extra momentum. He zigzagged through the bends while trying to raise his evaluation with much difficulty.
He was already exhausted, and that would still be the case if he weren’t carrying a person.
[My Highway] allowed him to run in the air while ignoring gravity to an extent, enabling him to run on walls or even upside down. Of course, he had to be running the entire time, or the skill would deactivate. Irrelevant to the current situation, the skill also allowed him to pass through mana barriers. The big issue was that most of his skills were locked when using [My Highway].
[Run Light] was the only movement skill he currently owned that could be used while [My Highway] was activated. It greatly increased his movement speed, and he and everything he was holding became a blur of light when used.
The big issue was that the skill was too physically taxing, but [My Highway] allowed him and what he was holding to ignore the stress of movement and speed. However, it was still exhausting for him to run at this speed.
Together, they were two main skills of his Vocation [Light Highway Runner] that he received thanks to the weird influence that knew his sister.

During the time since he gained his new Vocation, he was nearly at his old level again.
Tyell was planning to meet Lila today, not because she asked him to but because he was worried. She hadn’t been home and only stayed in hotels with the small amount of money she possessed.
In the small exchange she had with him and Mella, she said everything was okay. But not saying anything was wrong when the person in question was clearly acting like something was wrong was a dead giveaway that something was indeed extremely bad.
Mella didn’t know what was wrong either, all she knew was that something must have happened on the way home from Nina’s lunch.
Tyell headed to the park where Lila frequented, it was that or the river, and he went alone to the nearby park, but while he was there waiting for her, his [Crisis Location Alert] skill warned him.
An evolution of his previous [Alert] skill, [Crisis Location Alert] warned him of danger around him as well as the general location of where it was coming from. The skill prioritised danger towards himself, but it did warn him of the danger that would befall other people near him.
The skill was screaming at him and he got up, moved and saw Lila being attacked. So, he used his skills to get her out of there.
Finally, though he couldn’t keep up the skill any longer, he collapsed by the river.
“Fuck… I should have run to the main street.” While using those two skills, every millisecond he was reacting to what was in front of him. So all he was focusing on was not crashing into walls and not stopping–he didn’t have the mental energy to even know what direction to go in.
“Tyell… you need to run,” Lila replied, her energy drained.
“Yeah, I know. Now, let’s get a move on.”
“You know what I meant…”
“And? My family recently learned to stop being stubborn idiots, so you try learning that lesson.” Tyell groaned and his legs shook as he threw Lila on his shoulder. “It has done wonders for us.”
Tyell wobbled forward but they didn’t get farther away before the two that were attacking Lila showed up.
One was still hidden on the roof, gun ready but she froze when they saw who was on the ground, while Colours jumped down to confront them.
Black energy pulsed from her dagger with murderous intent.
“You know…” Tyell decided to use the opportunity to poke the hornet's nest. “You really should’ve just shot us after I stopped, or what? Is your aim that bad?”
Colours walked closer.
Lila mouthed, ‘What the fuck are you doing.’
Tyell couldn’t reply as he got kicked in the face.
Colours released her stress. “Annoying child, I don’t care if you wanted to help your new friend but it has cost you.” Because of the distance travelled, there was certainly a chance they were spotted by at least a few people, not to mention cameras. She and her assistant might be wearing camouflage equipment, but the people she was chasing certainly weren’t.
A warm wind blew through the area; it felt nice but did nothing. Within the wind were red strains that did nothing but fly in the breeze.
Lila's knees wobbled, and she stood up. The attack from earlier stole her physical strength.
“Why are you doing this?” Lila asked. She wanted to be angry, but a part of her felt what was happening specifically to her was justified.
Colours wasn’t going to answer her, but a small part of her wanted to condemn Lila for her behaviour. “The big picture, Lila. Something you have decided isn't important anymore.” Colours readied her weapon. “I can’t have someone who only looks in front of them disrupt it.”
This was supposed to make Lila feel distraught; however, Colours never really knew her former recruit. “...Bullshit.” Lila’s thoughts about the situation rapidly changed. Feeling this situation was justified? Screw that! Big picture bullshit!

Her physical strength might’ve been drained, but she still had a lot of mana available, and her [Pocket Lightning] still had many constructs stored.
[Pocket Lightning]-[Lightning Hammer]
An oversized hammer appeared from the sky–its long handle barely touching Lila’s head–and it fell towards Colours.
Lila followed up with more, pouring a large amount of her mana into a magic attack.
[Lightning Shockwave]!
The lightning hammer and the massive discharge of lightning crashed into Colours.
Colours shuffled back, and a black energy that emerged from the cracks hungrily ate the lightning. She was prepared for the instantaneous attacks again and prepared countermeasures, but Colours was still shaken, and her armour was slightly damaged.
Name: Lila Rewolf | Race: [Human]
Level 150 | Awakened
Mana: 30%
“If you wanted to kill me, you needed to use something that would’ve also killed yourself and your friend.” The black energy formed into a bullet, but before it formed, the red strains in the air exploded, and a large, harmless fire flowed through, blocking everyone’s sight.
“Don’t touch my children, you whore!” Out of seemingly nowhere, Tella fell from the sky, vines wrapped her right arm and she delivered a punch right into Colours’s face.
