The Soul System in the Apocalypse -
Chapter 98: Dual Affinity
Chapter 98: Dual Affinity
When they arrived at the territory, night had already descended, and from time to time, they could hear the roaring of the monsters that were currently on the outside of the city.
Henry was relieved to find out that the territory had not been attacked during the time that he was away. Other than the small zombies that were easily neutralized by the group that had been recruited Into the territory, there was no opponent that could not be handled that came over.
After everyone settled down, they had supper, prepared by Olivia and Sarah during the time that they were sailing in the sea, and had been kept by Henry in the idle space.
The 10 people that had been recruited recently were excited the moment that they realized that, not only was the food hot, but, it did not differ from the food that they had been eating before the apocalypse.
In fact, they realized that the food was way better than the one that they had been eating, even in the biggest restaurants. It was not about the cooking skills, rather it was just the taste of the food.
At this moment, they realized that, perhaps this was the best decision that they could have made, to join Henry’s territory.
Back at their base, it was difficult for them to get time to rest, considering that they had to patrol, while some of them went out to look for food. Even though they had already stocked a lot of food, they still wanted to collect more because in the apocalypse, it was going to be a difficult task to get food.
But in this territory, other than the zombies that were attacking the invisible barrier around the territory, they did not have to do much. Additionally, the sleeping quarters that were given to them were luxurious.
After the meal, Henry went ahead and gave Sarah new skills as well. Since she had already reached the Bronze rank, the skills limit had increased.
Currently, Sarah possessed four skills, one of them being the one that she had gotten after she reached Rank O. This time, she was only capable of taking a single skill, and she took light explosives.
This was a skill that was going to form something like a hand grenade, that was going to explode the moment that it touched the ground after it had been launched. The amount of damage that it was going to deal depended on the amount of energy that Sarah would have spent.
With that out of the way, Henry also went back to his room, trying to relax. But still, he made sure to keep his senses alert, ready to react at any moment. After all, the second change had already occurred, and he did not know what they might face the next minute.
...
Night passed. Other than the few zombies that appeared one after the other, way lesser than before, there was not any significant attack that was made on the territory.
As usual, since it was a new day, henry did not hesitate to enter the system space. Due to the fact that he was going to spend only a single second, he decided to take it and train himself.
He possessed Incredible skills, but the combat experience that he possessed was still lacking. So, inside, he tried to fight stronger opponents, trying to look for methods that he could utilize to defeat them.
After the 1-hour time was over, Henry exited the system space. Nothing had changed in the single second, so, Henry got out of bed, and went to the conference room.
He found that everyone else was already there. So, after taking his position at the head of the table, he calmly looked at the group and said, "Today, we only have two things to do. The first one will be to look for people that can join our territory. We still have to look for a hundred people, to make sure that the territory is finally recognized in the apocalypse."
"The second one, is trying to make sure that we level up. The Apocalypse has just begun, and this is the chance that we can utilize when the monsters and other apocalyptic creatures are still at a lower level, to help us climb the ladder." Henry continued.
"Even though the number of monsters and zombies in the city have drastically reduced, and we don’t know where they headed to, I hope that you can make sure that you reach level 9 at least by the end of today if possible."
Henry’s plan was to make sure that everyone reached the Bronze rank. At the end of the day, rank O was not even an initial stage in the ranking of the apocalypse.
Everyone nodded their heads when they heard that. They also knew that the territory needed 100 people for the aura of the core to be veiled. Otherwise, it was going to continuously attract apocalyptic creatures over.
After giving instructions, Henry decided to remain behind, while allowing everyone else to leave. Even Adam was allowed to go out with the rest, to try and level up while at the same time, looking for people to recruit.
Henry had already noticed that there was something wrong, and as such, the group went out as one, rather than spreading out. Together, if they encountered another group of necromancers, they would be able to handle them.
As for him, even if there was someone that came over to attack, since he was currently the strongest, he could deal with them. And in case it was impossible, he could just summon back one of his summoned creatures to help him in the fight.
Other reason as to why he had allowed Diana and storm to go out was for them to level up as well. Currently, they were still at level one of the Bronze rank, while he on the other hand had already reached level two of the Bronze rank in the warlock profession.
For the summoner profession, it was the summoned creature that was supposed to level up, in order for the profession to level up as well.
Of course, as they left, Henry had instructed them when they would be coming back, they had to go and take Jasmine back with them. She had already joined the territory, and she was not supposed to stay away for a long time.
...
Blazing continent, Hillstown City...
Boom! Crackle! Aargh!
At this moment, inside the Hillstown city, a fight was raging on. A group of humans was currently facing off with a group of goblins.
The goblins were about 1.2 m tall, green skin, with loin clothing on, ugly faces, laughing maniacally as they attacked with the weapons in their hands.
Even though the group of humans which consisted of almost 20 people was strong, but, facing the large group of goblins, they were getting worn out.
They had already been fighting for over 1 hour now, and the energy in their bodies had already begun getting spent out. Even though they were recovering with every goblin that they killed, still, the recovery rate did not match the consumption rate.
Amongst the group, there was a girl that stood out. She had long brown hair that was currently tied in a ponytail, red eyes, adorned in a black armor.
In her hand, she was holding a staff, as she continuously waved it around. With every time that she waved the stuff around, there would be a large group of goblins that would be killed by thick lightning that surged out of her.
More than that, she also attacked using several vines that tied up the goblins, giving the others a good chance of dealing with them. Currently, she was the one that was controlling the flow of the battlefield, and if she was eliminated, then this group of humans would have already been overwhelmed by the goblins.
"We need to find a way to retreat. We can no longer continue staying in this city. The goblins are too much for us to handle!" The lady said as she struck a goblin that had been jumping towards her with lightning, burning it into ashes.
"We want to do that, but we don’t have a way out. These goblins have completely surrounded us, not giving us a chance of getting out of here!" A young man replied.
The lady also knew about this, and they had to try and get out of here. Otherwise, they were definitely going to die. However, that was something that she was not going to agree to. She had to live, she had a lot of things that she wanted to do, and she wasn’t willing to be stopped by a group of goblins.
Clenching her hands tightly around the staff that she was holding, she continuously attacked. Even though her face had already turned pale as she had already spent a large amount of energy, she did not stop attacking.
The moment that she stopped, these goblins would swarm them. ’I have to get out of here no matter what. Mother and Father are still waiting for me to return. If we don’t deal with this group of goblins, then they are going to be in danger. But for that, we need a plan.’ The lady thought to herself as she continuously attacked.
"Alicia, you have to get out of here. We are going to open the way for you, but you have to make sure that you get out of here. You are currently the one with the highest chances of dealing with these goblins." A young lady said as she swung the short sword in her hand, slicing a goblin in half.
"That’s right. You have to make sure that you get out of here. You are the only one that perhaps can look for a way to save our families. Get out of here right now." A middle aged man said as he blocked an attack of a goblin.
Currently, most of them had already suffered injuries on their bodies, and they knew that they would die if they continued staying here. And since that was the case, it was better if they could allow another one to get out of here alive.
"No, that will not happen. We will have to get out of here together." The lady with dual affinity of lightning and wood element replied. She was Alicia.
Boom!
At this moment, before the group could even continue trying to convince Alicia to get going, they suddenly heard the sound of something landing heavily onto the ground. At the moment that they saw what had landed, their expressions turned pale.
