Chapter 91: I Need Freedom, so, I Became a Servant
"Xavier!" Jasmine shouted urgently. At this moment, had it not been for the fact that Arthur was holding her back, she would have rushed forward.
Of all the speculations that had been running in her mind about her brother running into danger, she had never thought that her brother would by any chance encounter a large group of skeleton warriors.
It seems that they were holding him captive, or perhaps they had some other different intentions on what they were going to do with him.
Just looking at the bone swords that the skeletons were holding, some of them already stained with blood, she could tell that there was a group that had already been killed off.
Jasmine’s emotions began getting out of control, as lightning began flashing around her.
Even though Arthur was feeling numb, he still continued holding Jasmine. He wasn’t ready to allow her charge into that large group of skeletons, and seek her own death.
Even though he wanted to save Xavier, he also knew that currently, they didn’t have that much chance of saving him. After all, before they even arrived in front of him, if the skeletons wanted to kill him, they would do so the moment that they began charging forward.
Xavier was walking slightly behind a figure that was wearing black clothes. The figure was currently wearing a black robe, that had a hoodie that completely covered its appearance.
Jasmine and the group had already realized that there were two more figures that were wearing black.
As they approached, Jasmine finally began calming down. But still, she was ready to make a move at any moment in case her brother’s life was threatened.
When the group of four arrived in front of them, the figure wearing a black hoodie in the lead looked at Jasmine and her group. At the same time, Jasmine and the others felt a chill running down their spines as they felt the gaze of the figure in front of them landing on them.
Subconsciously, they wanted to retreat, but using her willpower, Jasmine was able to continue standing in front of this terrifying figure. Without her brother, she was unwilling to retreat.
"Oh, I see. I didn’t expect that what you were saying was true. It seems that they can make way better undead warriors than the zombies." A musky and heavy masculine voice reached Jasmine’s ears.
She felt her body shudder as she felt the intense glare of the figure in front of her. For some reason, she felt that she had been seen proved by this figure in front of her.
Additionally, there was something that she could not understand in the words that had been spoken. Saying the truth? Did Xavier tell this person something?
And other than that, she had already begun trying to think if there was a profession that brought about the ability to summon numerous skeleton warriors.
And after some thought, she only found that the Necromancer profession was the only one that was related to the matter of the undead. But, Jasmine had never expected the ability of the necromancers to be this overpowered.
Additionally, she had already gotten the information about the disappearance of the zombies. It seemed that the person in front of her was the one that had taken all the zombies, and converted them into his undead army.
"That’s right. In fact, the one that I wanted to bring you to is not here. I think she is back at the underground basement. And when we get there, you are definitely going to get even more people that you can turn into your army." Xavier replied with shining eyes.
At the moment that his words fell in the ears of the people in front of him, they looked at him with dumbfounded expressions on their faces. None of them could believe what they were hearing.
From the fact that there was no fear in Xavier’s eyes, it implied that he was not kept as a prisoner. What’s more, from his words, it was clear that he was the one who had led this group here. And, he was actually leading this group towards the area that the majority of the citizens of Crystal City were hiding.
"Xavier, what are you saying?" Jasmine who was just about to burst in anger, suddenly deflated as she asked in surprise and disbelief.
"What do you expect sister? I just said that I am going to give away many quality resources that can be used by this master here, to turn them into undead warriors. It is going to be their honor being able to become undead warriors of this master." Xavier spoke.
As he said these words, there was admiration in his eyes as he looked at the figure that was standing in front of him. It was clear that he had already been completely conquered by the ability of the figure.
"Do you know that father and our little sister are present there? Do you know what you are going to do by bringing all these there? They are going to die, all of them!" With reddened eyes, Jasmine said as she looked at Xavier. At the same time, she wished that what she was seeing was just a dream, and not reality.
In fact, she had been wishing that all of this, the apocalypse and so on, was just a dream. Even though she had gotten strong, way stronger than she had ever imagined or dreamed of, but, what was the point?
What was the point of getting strong if she was bound to lose the people that she loved? She had already lost her mother, and if she could turn back time, and be given a decision to make a choice, she would have decided to continue living a normal life, rather than getting in this hell hole of an apocalypse.
"It is not like I care about the lives of others. All that I care about is my life, and the life of my master." Xavier replied nonchalantly. He didn’t seem to care about what Jasmine thought of him anymore.
In fact, currently, he harbored resentment for her. After all, it was not long ago that he had been slapped by her, in front of a large group of people. To him, this had already stained his reputation, so, he had to look for a way that he was going to use to regain it.
"Master? You have become a slave?" Jasmine asked in disbelief. She had never expected that her brother was going to lower himself to such a level.
"What slave? I have only become a servant. Thankfully, my master has given me freedom, completely allowing me to do whatever I please. This is completely unlike what you and father did. You always claim that you are my family, but, you never care about my happiness." Xavier retorted angrily.
As he said these words, he was reminded of the time that he had always been chided by his father and sister. They always told him that whatever he was doing was wrong. No matter how many times he tried to correct himself, they always said that it was wrong.
Of course, he had already gotten tired of it. To him, he had tried as much as possible to accommodate them, sadly, to him,his sister and father didn’t see that. They thought that whatever he was doing was wrong.
But to him, what was wrong with enjoying himself? Why was he supposed to be engaged in the matter of politics? That was not something that he wished for.
Since it was his father’s dream to become a governor, a public servant, then why was he involved in the matter, being asked to serve the public, even though he did not wish to be one?
So, after he had been slapped by his sister previously, he had decided to go out and make sure that he found something for himself.
He had realized that his sister was right. Why was he supposed to continue hiding, while he could be outside, getting stronger?
However, after he came out, he realized that there was not even a single zombie in the street. And with the rain, it was quite difficult for him to navigate outside.
Still, he was able to move a long distance, making sure that he was far away from his father and sister. He was no longer willing to be under their control anymore.
But, he had never expected that the moment he thought that he was so far away, and could begin trying to build his own force here, he was surrounded by a group of skeleton warriors.
Of course, he was scared sh*tless. But luckily, he was able to react fast enough, and inform the one that was leading the skeleton warriors that he was having information about where they could get even more people that they could turn into their undead warriors.
Of course, he knew what the skeleton warriors were. He had played several games that involved something like this. So, he knew that for the necromancers, for them to get even stronger, they needed large groups of corpses.
So, he thought about the large group of people that was hiding in the underground basement. He was sure that with this piece of information, he might be allowed to live.
Nonetheless, he had also never expected that the moment he said that there was a large group of humans hiding somewhere, he would be given a chance of becoming a servant.
Just thinking of becoming a servant of a strong person that was it an enormous army, he got excited and immediately agreed. So, he led the way towards the underground basement, but he had never expected that he was going to meet his sister on the way.
"Why did you do this?!" Jasmine shouted as she looked at Xavier. She couldn’t believe that this was the behavior of her younger brother. She really didn’t want to believe it.
