Chapter 89: [Bonus Chapter]It’s his Choice

After the food was distributed to everyone, Jasmine began talking to her father about joining the territory. She informed him of the merits of joining the territory, and the rules that had been explained to her by Henry.

Of course, she wasn’t sure if her father was going to agree to join the territory. But still, she was willing to convince him, considering that if they continue waiting for the soldiers to come, they would not even know what they might face as they continued to wait.

Previously, they had encountered a mutated zombie. And had it not been for the appearance of Henry and Adam, they would have already been dead right now. So, currently, Jasmine really wanted her family to join the territory.

She had already lost her mother and she was not willing to lose any other member of the family. And even though Xavier was not the best brother, at least, he was the only brother that she had.

The governor on the other hand was quite troubled. Even though he believed that joining the territory was the best thing that they could do at the moment, he knew that by doing that, he would be betraying the country.

The territory that Henry had formed was completely out of the government’s jurisdiction. That implied that, Henry had formed a power that was completely out of control of the government. Since that was the case, this could be considered as betrayal of the country.

He was a governor, a member of the public servant. So, he was considered one of those that had great responsibilities for the country.

"I’m sorry. I cannot join the territory. It would have been better if that young man that you are talking about doesn’t will to form a force of his own. But, things are different. During the time that the army will be coming over, they will definitely deal with him." Maxwell let out a sigh as he responded.

Being able to be a part of a group that possessed great strength was something that the governor really wished for. However, considering the position that he held, it completely restricted him from doing something like that.

"But father, you know that the law has completely collapsed this time. It is not like we are the only people that are experiencing the apocalypse. The normal guns will not work on these apocalyptic creatures, especially the stronger ones." Jasmine continued to persuade Maxwell.

"Perhaps the firepower of the guns diminished, but, the ones that are using it, if they are not fast enough, they cannot even shoot an apocalyptic creature in front of them."

"And now, we don’t even know if the soldiers will be coming here anytime soon. Additionally, who knows if we are going to survive until they arrive. The communication system is down, and with the storm that is out there, if the soldiers don’t find somewhere for shelter, then, they might have already been cleared out."

Jasmine had already experienced the terror of the apocalypse. Even though soldiers were well trained and strong, in the apocalypse, they were considered normal.

Just like the people in the group that had gone out to look for food, all of them are well trained. But still, they were only capable of dealing with the normal zombies. If they faced a mutated zombie, then, they were completely helpless.

It was not guaranteed that the soldiers that were sent over had anyone that was as strong as Adam and Henry. Additionally, even if they were strong, they will have definitely headed for the capital where many important people were located in.

Maxwell looked at his daughter, but, even though he really wanted to join, he knew better than anyone else that the moment that the soldiers came over and realized that he had joined, then, they might as well kill him on the spot.

"Daddy, Xavier left. I don’t know where he went to, but he left through there." Just before Maxwell could say anything, his youngest daughter came over and pointed towards the entrance of the basement that they were hiding in.

Both Maxwell and Jasmine had a shift of their expressions. None of them had expected that Xavier was going to leave. Additionally, he had gone out without any protection.

"How can this son of mine be this stupid? The storm outside has not yet calmed down, and the danger outside cannot be underestimated. Yet, this stupid kid has the guts to go outside!" Maxwell said with anger in his eyes.

He had always wanted to beat up his son for being useless. However, since Xavier was not causing him trouble, Maxwell decided to bear with it as he continued to try to advise him to change.

But now, if he found where Xavier had gone to, then, as long as he found him, he was going to give him a thorough beating.

"Father, calm down. I will go out and look for him." Looking at her father who was planning to go out, Jasmine hurriedly stopped him.

Even though her father had also become a mutant warrior, he was still at level 3. Since he was engaged in management of the people, he was not involved in hunting, thus his level was still low.

Maxwell hesitated for a moment, before he agreed. At the same time, he looked towards Diana and the wolf that was standing next to her.

Due to the storm that was outside, Storm was forced to come in. Even though everyone in the room was surprised, they finally calmed down when they realized that the wolf was together with Diana.

But at the same time, their horror for her increased. After all, she could kill without blinking, but now, there was a wolf beside her. If it decided to attack them, nobody was going to save them.

Maxwell was currently hoping that what Jasmine had told him about Diana was true. Additionally, he also hoped that Diana would protect Jasmine as she went out.

After assuring her father that she was going to be careful when she went out, she rushed towards Diana and informed her about what had happened.

"What has that got to do with me? I was told by master to protect you and ensure that you arrived here safely. And, I am supposed to escort you back to the territory." Diana replied indifferently.

Ever since she came in this world, she didn’t care about anything other than her master. And had it not been for the fact that Henry was the one who had instructed her to protect Jasmine, she would have completely ignored her if she was attacked.

And currently, she felt that Jasmine was just wasting time, delaying them from going back to the territory. So, the matter of going out to look for Xavier was not of her concern.

Jasmine pursed her lips. She had been expecting such a response from Diana. But still, she was quite disappointed. After all, she knew that without Diana, the strength that she possessed was not enough for her to move freely outside.

She turned her gaze towards Storm, but she realized that Storm continued lying on the floor, not caring about what she had just said.

"But that is my brother. Aren’t you going to help me look for him?" Jasmine asked.

"It is not like he was attacked or something. He decided to leave by himself. Additionally, he is a man. Why are you so much worried about him? Anyway, master simply told me to ensure that you arrived here safely. After that, I’m supposed to take you back to the territory. I hope that after the storm is over, we will be going back." Diana replied coldly.

With gritted teeth, Jasmine decided to go out by herself. Even if Diana was not going to go out with her, she believed that with her strength, she was definitely capable of looking for her brother. As long as her luck was not bad, then she would not encounter any mutated zombie.

Diana’s eyes narrowed as she watched Jasmine leave. In the end, she could only shake her head and follow her. After all, she was given the task of making sure that Jasmine arrived at the territory safely.

Storm also got to his feet and followed them. And of course, the two of them kept some distance.

When Jasmine arrived at the entrance, she realized that the group that had gone out with her previously was waiting for her there.

"Uncle Arthur, what are you doing here?" Jasmine asked in surprise.

"Your father informed us about what has happened. We are going out with you to look for the young master." Arthur replied confidently.

"But aren’t you supposed to be with your family?" Jasmine asked worriedly.

"Don’t worry about that. We’ll just look for the young master and come back after we find him. There’s no need for you to worry about that." Arthur replied.

Jasmine felt grateful as she looked at the group. Now, there was only seven of them. This was the number that was remaining out of all those that had gone out previously. But at least, they had all grown stronger than before.

"Okay then. I will depend on you." Jasmine replied with a smile.

Thereafter, the group of eight left the underground basement. And as they stepped out, that was just the time that the storm was calming down.

Jasmine was quite excited when she realized this. At the same time, she believed that her brother had not gone far since it was not long that he had left. But still, it was quite difficult to pinpoint what direction he had headed to.

"All of you, you have to be careful. We don’t know what is outside here now, so, we can encounter anything. Make sure to keep an eye for any chances of young master Xavier." Arthur instructed the group as they continued moving.
