The Soul System in the Apocalypse -
Chapter 81: Diana’s Determination
Chapter 81: Diana’s Determination
This group had been lucky enough to witness Lucas eliminating some zombies and monsters back then. For that reason, they had always been having immense faith in Lucas, and that he was the strongest person ever within Crystal City, and perhaps in the whole country.
However, the abuse completely changed during the time that he was battling Adam. At that time, he didn’t possess any advantage, not until he utilized the duplication skill.
But even so, it was true that he possessed an advantage during the fight, but no matter how hard he tried, he was not capable of dealing with Adam. And in the end, he was forced to use a sneak attack to deal with Adam.
Sadly, that too was completely useless on Adam. Just after Lucas had managed to return to his peak, they had thought that perhaps he was going to win the fight. But in the end, another person interfered and he was able to deal with Lucas with just a single attack.
With the death of Lucas, that was also the time that their faith had also collapsed. The pillar that they had been depending on during the apocalypse had suddenly been destroyed.
Not to mention the will to fight, they were not even capable of fleeing for their lives. After all, they were not sure whether they could survive the moment that Henry decided to attack them.
"All of you, come over." Henry called to the group.
Even though the group hesitated, they still decided to go ahead. It was not like they had any choice.
The moment that they arrived in front of him, Henry scrutinized them and used the ability that he had received after reaching the Bronze rank to see information about their abilities.
He was surprised to find out that amongst the group, there were actually two of them that had possessed A grade professions. As for the remaining eight, each and everyone of them possessed a B grade profession.
Even though the grade of the professions that they possessed was way lower as compared to the S grade that Jasmine possessed, or the SS grade professions that Sarah and Adam possessed, not to mention the SSS grade professions that he and Olivia possessed, they were still people with great capabilities.
Even though it was true that the combat capabilities that these people possessed could not match them, there was no way that he was going to expect that everyone in the territory was going to be an elite.
"I’m going to give you a choice. You either decide to join my territory or death penalty." Henry stated.
The expressions of the 10 people in front of him shifted. It was true that they really wanted to get out of here, and neither of them really wanted to die. But, they didn’t have any choice in front of Henry.
As for the matter of joining Henry’s territory, that was something that they could have already gone for, had it not been for the fact that they were currently scared that they would be suppressed if they joined the territory.
But still, it was not like they had any choice. It was either they join the territory, or they die.
Before the group could even make a decision on what they were going to do, Henry spoke once again, "I better give you a heads up. If you join my territory, then you better be prepared to follow all the rules that have been set. In case you disobey these rules, then you have to be prepared for punishment, and the punishment can go as far as killing you."
The moment that he said those words, the group felt their scalps tingling, as they felt that Henry’s gaze on them had turned cold. It was obvious that the punishment of death was not a joke that he was using to frighten them, but instead, it was the truth.
Now, the 10 began thinking about the matter seriously. After all, no matter how they thought about it, they didn’t even know about the rules of the territory. In the end, they might actually be killed the moment that they joined the territory.
"I will join the territory. I do swear that I will follow all the rules that have been set and follow all the commands that I will be given." At this time, one of them took a step forward and said resolutely.
His decision surprised everyone else. After all, the others were still thinking about it. However, to the lady, what was there to think about? After all, either way, they were going to die.
But still, there was a great difference. One of them was them dying on the spot, while the other one was dying only if they had disobeyed the territory’s rules.
To this lady, it was way better if she could have a few more days to live, rather than dying on the spot. She still had a family to look after, and she wasn’t willing to die just like that.
Henry looked at her, she was one of those two that possessed A grade professions. He was indeed surprised that she came to a decision that first, but still, he was also impressed.
To him, decisive people was just amongst the subordinates that he really wanted. For that reason, since she had decided to join the territory, if she performed well, perhaps in the future Henry might promote her.
"Okay. You can move to the side." Henry said in satisfaction. Then, he focused his gaze on the remaining nine people.
But just as expected, since the group did not have any other choice, they obviously agreed to join the territory.
After all of them had decided to join the territory, Henry went ahead and told them about the rules of the territory. He made sure to make himself clear, because he really didn’t want to kill anyone, considering that the territory still needed to get a few more people so that the aura of the territory core could be veiled.
As for Olivia and Sarah, the two of them had already departed from the territory. They still needed to venture out for 3 hours, and try their luck to see if they were going to be capable of ranking up or leveling up.
As for Henry and Adam, they made arrangements for this group of new recruits to give them information about the base that they had been in previously.
After that, they gave them a room on the ground floor. That was where they were going to stay for the time being. If they wanted to climb to the higher floors of the building, then they had to contribute to the territory.
....
While all of this was going on, Jasmine and her group had managed to reach where the underground basement hiding place was.
With the protection of Storm and Diana, they had managed to reach here safely, without losing anyone else. Additionally, during this trip, they had finally came to a realization that Diana was not to be messed with.
At least, they could understand if Storm was cruel. After all, Storm was a wolf, and they had already gotten used to seeing monsters attacking humans and killing them. This was something that had been happening even before the apocalypse descended.
Nonetheless, it was completely different when they saw that Diana was cruel to all those that tried to rob them. Since currently there was no law, there had been several groups of people that had banded together, and had been trying to look for resources, and there were even those that had been kidnapping others or robbing them.
But the moment that Diana realized that this group had malicious intentions towards them, she didn’t hesitate to kill them all. She always made sure that there was not even a single survivor remaining.
For Jasmine, even though it was true that she didn’t have that much of a soft heart, nonetheless, it was completely different when dealing with humans.
Dealing with monsters and zombies was something that she could do without hesitation. But killing other humans, that was different. To her, she preferred to give them a different punishment rather than killing them, unless there was no any other choice.
What Jasmine and the others did not know was the fact that, at this moment, when Diana was dealing with the scum that she was meeting on the way, she was only thinking of one thing, completing the mission that she had been given.
Other than that was the fact that, she was sure that if this group of people continued to walk away free, then they were going to be a source of trouble for her master.
Even though she knew that they could not do any much damage to her master, flies will also frustrate a human after all. So, it was better for her to do the cleaning up as soon as possible.
After they arrived here, they had realized that the group of zombies that was supposed to be filling the air had suddenly reduced in number.
From the traces that could be observed, it was obvious that they had not been killed. Instead, it was as if they had been attracted somewhere. But nonetheless, none of them cared about the matter, and instead, they focused on delivering the food.
The moment that the governor realized that his daughter had come back safely, he finally got relieved. The heavyweight that had been on his shoulder all this while was finally removed.
"You will have to give us the food first. Only after we are satisfied, that is the time that you may deliver the food to the other low level people." Just before the food could even be delivered, a man with a pot belly spoke.
