Chapter 401: Interrupted

"Excuse me, I have a piece of information here that I received recently." Before the deputy could even dismiss those that had been listening to him, one of them stood up and spoke.

The one who had spoken this time was an old man who possessed a head full of white hair. Despite the fact that the appearance of people had begun changing ever since they began getting stronger, this old man’s appearance remained the same.

The reason behind this was due to the fact that this old man was extremely old during the time that the apocalypse descended. Despite the boosting of his appearance by his current power level, he still looked like a person who was in his late ’70s.

The deputy who had been in charge of the meeting, Kevin, looked at him with a displeased expression on his face. He had already gotten used to being the one that was in charge of the entire meeting, being the only person who was speaking until the meeting was dismissed.

But now, just as he was about to close the meeting, someone had stood up and interrupted him. This was something that was completely against his own ego. He could not allow anybody to just speak up unless he had asked for permission.

Kevin raised his hand with the intention of dealing with the old man. That was just the way that he was. If anybody did something that went against his own wishes, he would immediately eliminate them.

The old man who had just stood up could not help but feel his blood going cold. He himself was only at level six of the gold rank. So, in the face of an attack of a person who had already reached the diamond rank, he understood that he was definitely not going to be capable of withstanding it, unless the other party decided that he was not intending to kill him.

But then again, even if he was not killed, he was going to be severely injured. But the old man was not a person who had any other choice, considering that he had already stood up, and had spoken up without being given permission.

Of course he did not stand aimlessly. Before he stood up, he had already contemplated on whether to do that or not. But in the end, he could not prevent himself from doing that.

That was simply because his family was actually located in Trista territory. And the movements that had been going on recently had already alarmed him, and he was completely worried about his family.

At this point, realizing that it seemed that he had made the wrong gamble, the old man did not regret at all. Instead, he simply felt helpless. After all, he was the one who had made the wrong decision by joining the military territory. It was not as if the military territory was forcing anybody to join them.

Kevin was just about to launch an attack towards the old man, who had already been abandoned by those that had been sitting close to him, afraid that they were going to be caught in the attack during the time that the old man would be attacked, when he was forced to stop.

"Let’s listen to what he has to say. After that, we can decide on what to do later on according to the information that he possesses." The other deputy, a lady who was currently wearing the same armor as Kevin spoke up.

She possessed a cold and indifferent expression on her face. She possessed blonde hair, and brown eyes that were filled with coldness and indifference, as if she really didn’t care about anything in the world.

It was actually true that she did not really care much about what it was that was happening in this place. Every time that there was a meeting, it was Kevin that was leading in everything, and he was the one who was making the majority of the decisions.

As for this lady, although she held the same position as Kevin, she actually did not do anything, other than fighting against the enemies that they faced.

Being the first time that he was interrupted by this lady, Kevin could not help but frown a little. Although the two of them were actually deputies, of course Kevin was not happy about it. It was just that the two of them possessed the same power level, and Kevin could not do anything about it.

It was a good thing that this lady never did anything against him, and that was the reason why Kevin had tolerated her all this while. In fact, he was happy about the fact that she did not do anything against him all this while, giving him all the freedom to do what he liked.

He looked at the lady who was not even looking at him. This was a trait that she possessed that irritated him the most. She actually treated him as if he did not exist at all, and she really didn’t care much about him. It was as if to her, he did not exist at all.

He was hesitating on whether he was going to attack or if he was supposed to stop. After thinking for a moment, he decided to stop attacking, and wait to listen to what this old man wanted to say.

In any case, it was not as if this lady had tried to prevent him from killing this old man. Instead, she just wanted to listen to whatever nonsense this old man had to say.

"Go ahead and speak. You better not try wasting my time here. If you try to say anything useless, believe me, I’m going to make sure that not even a single piece of you will be remaining after I’m done with you." Kevin stated as he looked at the old man.

The old man was immediately relieved that the other deputy had intervened. He understood that if she had not, he would have already been dead by now.

He wanted to appreciate what she had done for him, but looking at the indifference in her eyes, he decided against it. He was not sure if by speaking, he was going to irritate her, and make her change her mind about the decision that she had made about stopping Kevin from attacking him.

Without hesitation, he immediately went ahead and gave out the information that he had received. "I have heard that recently, there are several movements that are being made by Trista territory. It seems that they are trying to collect zombies into the territory. As for what it is that they are trying to do with the zombies, I’m not sure about it. I’m afraid that they might actually be conquered by the zombies right now."

It was not that easy for him to be able to acquire that information. That was simply because the communication between this territory and the other territories was completely limited to those that held the highest positions.

The only reason why he had been able to receive the information was simply because one of those people that had been placed within that territory to give out information about the territory was someone that he knew. The relationship between the two of them was quite good despite the difference in age.

It was that person that he was utilizing in order to communicate with his family that was located within Trista territory. And now that he felt that Trista territory was in danger, he realized that it was actually better for them to be oppressed by the military, rather than having them being turned into zombies.

Kevin and everybody else around could not help but frown after hearing what the old man had said. That was especially so for Kevin.

This piece of information was something that he did not really care much about. Of course he had already received the information considering that he was the one who had instructed for the information to be brought over, and this was just part of the information that he had received.

But to him, he really didn’t care much about Trista territory. At the end of it all, it was not as if there was anybody powerful enough within that territory that was capable of giving him anything that he wanted.

But now, this old man had brought up this information. First of all, how was it possible that this old man who was only at level 6 of the gold rank had gotten the information? Could it be that there was a traitor that was giving away the information that they had gotten?

His eyes narrowed as he looked at the old man, as if he was trying to see through him. The old man felt a chill running down his spine under the gaze of Kevin.

"Let me ask you one thing, where did you get that information from?" Kevin asked with narrowed eyes as he immediately released his aura, completely suppressing the old man. But of course, he was not controlling that aura of his quite well, and those people in the surrounding areas were also affected by his aura.

The old man felt suffocated under the pressure that he was experiencing from Kevin. As for answering the question, the old man did not even try to think about giving the answer. After all, if he gave out the answer, that implied that he was going to reveal information about his friend.

If it was revealed that it was his friend that had given out the information, then there was no doubt that the information about his family being present within Trista territory might actually be revealed. If that happened, there was not telling on what Kevin could do to his family.

When Kevin realized that the old man was not responding, he was completely displeased. This was yet another time that this old man was undermining his authority. This time, he decided to eliminate him.

As for where he had gotten the information, Kevin was not that much worried. He could simply kill off all those people that had been sent over to act as spies in the other territories. That way, he would definitely be able to deal with whoever it was that had provided the old man with the information.

"Are you sure that the information that you received is valid?" For the second time, the second deputy spoke up again.
