Chapter 378: Philip’s Side of the Story

"You really had it difficult. We are sorry for failing you as your parents. We were too busy to be able to give you the attention that you deserved." Christine said as she wiped away the tears that were flowing down her cheeks.

Before the apocalypse descended, Henry’s family was quite well off. But of course, all of this came at a cost of his parents being continuously busy. So, Henry did not have a chance of spending much time together with his family, apart from night times after they had come from work.

But of course, that did not imply that every night they would be together. Otherwise, there was definitely no chance that Henry would be together with Adam in a place where they were allowed to go to a party where they were kidnapped.

Nevertheless, Henry did not hate his parents at all. He understood everything that they did was because they wanted him to have a good life. Being the only child in the family, everything that they were working for at that time was definitely going to be his in the future.

Of course that was something that he came to understand when he had already become an adult after spending several years on that island where he was facing hell.

"There’s no need to mention it. So, why don’t you tell me about yourselves? Mostly, what happened during the time that the apocalypse had just descended?" Henry waved his hand as he dismissed the matter. Instead, he focused on knowing about what had really happened on his parents’ side during the time that the apocalypse had descended.

Christine was unable to continue speaking at this point because she was still sobbing at the difficulties that her son had gone through. So, Philip decided to speak up.

He went ahead and described to Henry about everything that happened during the time that the apocalypse had descended.

Since the apocalypse had descended at night, his parents were back at home. Both of his parents worked in the same place, in the same facility that dealt with research, though in different departments.

When they came back at night, they spent the night thinking about Henry and how he had just disappeared. They comforted each other, while at the same time trying to make sure that James did not know about what it was that they were worried about.

But suddenly, during the time that they was sleeping, they suddenly heard the ground shaking. The mansion in which they were living in was also shaking, with the roars and screams coming from outside intensifying as time went by.

Of course Henry’s family lived in an area where the population was not that high. But nevertheless, although the population in that area could not be compared to the center of the city, but still, the population was also quite huge considering that several high level apartments were located in these areas.

The two of them immediately got up and looked out of the window. It was at that time that they suddenly realized that outside was complete chaos. They could see that several wild animals had suddenly charged over.

This was not the first time that they were seeing wild animals running rampant. Occasionally, since the city was located close to a forest, a natural forest at that, several wild animals would come out of the forest and try to attack humans.

It was good that those that were in charge of wildlife were capable of reacting quite quickly and dealing with the wild animals that had gone rampant. But this time, it was completely different. Completely unlike those times where only one or two wild animals would come out of the forest, this time, there was a very large number of monsters that were attacking humans.

Additionally, even herbivores came out of the forest, and were actually also attacking humans. It was a situation where a lion and an antelope would attack in the same area, even though they were predator and prey.

Of course they were only capable of seeing not far away from the location of their mansion considering that although they were on the third floor, they could not see that much far considering that it was night time.

The only reason why they could see that the monsters in the distance were continuously causing chaos was due to the fire that had erupted.

At that time, all of them were completely dumbstruck. They had not expected that something like this was going to happen.

Philip reacted fast enough and went to his safe. After opening it, he took out a pistol. This was something that he had acquired through his own connections, and even Christine did not know about it.

So, the moment that he took out the gun, Christine was surprised. Although she was having many questions at that time, she did not ask considering the situation that they were currently in.

Christine hurriedly changed into proper clothes before she rushed to look for James. After the family of three gathered together, they nervously continued staying in the mansion, hoping that no monster would come and attack them.

But that was an impossibility considering that the monsters were continuously attacking the entire city. So, it did not take long for a group of monsters to come over.

Led by a tiger, gazelles came over to attack. The gate was not capable of preventing those wild animals from coming in considering that they had already been strengthened during the start of the apocalypse.

Of course Philip was not willing to allow the monsters to come into the building. For that reason, he decided to attack from the top floor where they were located.

It was a good thing that he always practiced shooting in his free time. So, when it came to utilizing a gun, he was quite proficient.

With the bullets that he possessed, he went ahead and killed the tiger after several attempts. As for the gazelles, due to the speed that they possessed, together with the flexibility, it was quite difficult to be able to eliminate all of them.

But after killing the tiger, Philip suddenly realized that he had somehow become stronger than before. And taking that advantage, he went ahead and continuously shot the gazelles, and managed to kill a few of them.

With that, he became even stronger. But, the number of bullets that he was possessing was quite limited. In the end, he did not manage to completely eliminate the monsters that had come over to attack using the bullets that he possessed. Moreover, by using a gun, he had already attracted a few monsters in the surrounding areas.

Left with no choice, Philip looked for a weapon that he utilized to deal with the monsters that tried to barge into the building. Of course he had already gone down from the top floor of the mansion.

After dealing with the monsters that came over due to his increased strength, even after suffering a few injuries, Philip was relieved that he had managed to protect his family.

Coincidentally, not long after they had finished dealing with the monsters, there was a group of people that came over. This group possessed weapons, and they claimed that they were part of a special force that had been created by a member of the government that was living in this part of the city.

Under their protection, they were capable of reaching a place where they had decided to create a survivor’s camp. It was there that they met up with Adam’s family. Lucky for them, they had not gotten even a single casualty, although there were some of them that had been injured.

It was at that time that they also realized that Alicia had somehow gotten stronger, and gotten a profession. After receiving information about that, they also looked forward to trying to get stronger and getting the professions.

Although it was true that they were terrified, but after getting an explanation from Alicia, they understood that there was actually an apocalypse that was something like a game.

At some point in time, after a few days, another incident happened. Goblins suddenly came out of nowhere and attacked them.

Initially, they were not capable of dealing with the goblins due to the low number of people that were capable of fighting. In the end, they had to retreat as they left Alicia to continuously deal with the goblins.

Lucky enough, she was able to deal with them. And after that, they went ahead and created a haven for themselves that was located in the outskirts of the city. Of course this was after the zombies had already erupted, and a large number of people had turned into zombies.

Just like that, Alicia was capable of creating a territory due to her superior strength. The person that was in charge of the soldiers of special forces was none other than Aaron’s father whom Alicia had killed.

At that time, because Alicia possessed greater strength than him, he had no choice but to agree to be below her. But just thinking of the fact that he was part of the military before the apocalypse, he was completely unwilling to be below a civilian.

That was the reason why he had decided to rebel, trying to take over everything. Of course, there was no way that he was going to submit to the military either. After all, that was definitely against what he was wishing for.

As for the rest of what had happened, Henry already knew about it. After all, during the time that they had arrived, the military and the zombies were attacking Trista territory at the same time.

Henry was just about to say something when suddenly, he frowned. He looked at his father and said, "It seems that there is a group of people or creatures that are coming to attack the territory again. Let me deal with this first."
