Chapter 367: Desperate Decision

"At this point, it is completely irreversible now. No matter what, there is definitely no way that this process can be stopped. So even if they come right now, they would definitely not be able to do anything to reverse this situation." Jason stated in a low voice.

Then in the next moment, he laid on the ground. At this point, he felt completely relieved. Although he had initially told Alicia that there was no way that the procedure was going to be stopped or reversed, it was actually a lie.

There was a single person that was capable of preventing something like that from happening. It was just that Alicia and the others did not know of that as of yet. So, it was better that they continued staying in the dark.

Although it was true that Alicia was currently undergoing a transformation, who could say about the future? There were several things that always happened against our expectations. So, there was no way that he was going to risk at least knowing about anything that was going to be unfavorable to the zombies.

But at this point, at the stage that Alicia had reached, it was definitely impossible for the situation to be reversed. That was something that was never going to happen even if they managed to find the solution that could have been used during the initial stage of the transformation.

Alicia on the other hand was feeling a lot of pressure on her soul. She felt that there was something that was trying to take over control of her body. Initially, although she could not control her body due to the loss of energy, she still felt that she was the one that was in control of the body.

But right now, she was actually fighting against another existence that was trying to take over her body. It was just that she felt that the existence that she was fighting against was extremely strong, and it seemed that she might end up losing.

Nevertheless, Alicia’s willpower was definitely not simple. Just thinking of the family that she had left back in Trista territory, and that she did not know their fate, there was no way that she was going to allow herself to succumb to this.

Additionally, she had already thought of the worst thing that could happen to her family. So, the rage that she was feeling towards the zombies also increased the determination that she had in order to fight against the one that was trying to control her.

At this point, Alicia had completely forgotten about the changes that were currently occurring in her body. Instead, she simply put all her effort in preventing herself from being controlled by another existence.

While Alicia was still struggling to maintain control over her body, several other changes began occurring again. Suddenly, her fingernails extended. Additionally, her brown hair turned black, and it elongated as well.

As for her appearance, there was no much change other than the change in the complexion of her skin. The black veins had already disappeared, and the skin looked extremely normal, other than the strange complexion.

At this point, Alicia was no longer a human. Instead, she had become a halfling. A mixture of a zombie and a human. The only reason why she had not turned completely into a zombie was simply because she was still battling the consciousness that was trying to take over hers.

And Jason who was on the ground looked on with a frown on his face. He had not expected that Alicia was this resilient. According to the history of this transformation process, there was no human that had ever managed to escape the fate of becoming a zombie through this method.

As one could expect, this method was completely different from the transformation that one would receive through bites from the zombies.

In fact, if Alicia had been transformed into a zombie through receiving a bite from a zombie, she would have been Alicia, but would have been of the zombie race.

She would have been filled with thoughts of being a zombie being the best thing that could happen to her. That was the reason why those people that transformed into zombies, even though they regained their consciousness and were capable of thinking, they had never thought of betraying the zombies.

Instead, all that they thought about at that point was to turn all the humans present within the world into zombies. But that was definitely not something that Jason wanted for Alicia.

What he wanted for Alicia was complete takeover. There was a chance that the other zombies could be turned back into humans. But a person like Alicia who had been transformed through this method, no matter what, she would never become a human. Jason himself was an example of a zombie that had been created in this way.

"Humph! Let’s wait and see how long you’re going to be able to hold on. Nobody has ever made to do it." Jason snorted as he continued observing the changes that were occurring on Alicia.

Had it not been for the fact that he had completely lost his energy, he would have definitely gone ahead and tried as much as possible to make sure that Alicia lost the battle against the consciousness that was trying to take over hers.

Nevertheless, he believed that Alicia was going to transform into a full zombie soon. So, he simply continued paying attention to her, waiting for the transformation to end.

On the other hand, Alicia realized that the battle that she was engaging in was extremely bitter. No matter what, she realized that there was no way that she could defeat the consciousness that was trying to possess her.

Additionally, she realized that the consciousness that was trying to take over her body was not only trying to possess her body, but it was actually trying to consume her soul as well.

When she realized that, Alicia suddenly made a decision. No matter what, there was no way that she was going to agree to become a zombie. Since this consciousness was trying to take over her body, she was definitely going to make sure that the two of them died together.

Of course she understood that this was definitely a coward’s way out. But there was nothing that she could do in this situation. So, this was the only choice that she currently possessed.

At this point, she did not try to control all the energy in her body. Instead, she tried to focus on controlling only a small part of it. Although it seemed extremely difficult, Alicia realized that it was possible.

So, she decided to stop the battle against the other consciousness, allowing it to start taking over the body. It seemed that this consciousness had to take over the body first before it consumed Alicia’s consciousness.

Nevertheless, Alicia had not given up on the battle. So, the moment that she managed to control a little bit of her energy, she mobilized it and directed it towards her heart. At this point, she had decided that she was going to destroy her body, destroying herself as well.

As long as the body died, she was going to die as well. That way, there was no way that her consciousness was going to exist. In that situation, the other foreign existence that was present within her body was also going to be forced to die or exit her body.

That way, she would avoid her body being utilized by a zombie. After all, if she became a zombie, who could tell if she was going to kill her own family who had survived? Perhaps she could even meet with her brother in the future, but would become enemies with him because she was a zombie.

The other consciousness that was busy trying to take over Alicia’s body suddenly realized Alicia’s plan. Immediately, it stopped trying to take over the body. But it seemed that it was already too late for it to be able to stop considering that the process had already began.

Since that consciousness had already began replacing Alicia’s consciousness, it was no longer capable of stopping the process. So, it could only do what it could in order to be able to make sure that it did not die here.

Since this consciousness was related to the violent energy that was inside Alicia’s body, it was capable of controlling the majority of the energy in the body. Without hesitation, that foreign consciousness immediately mobilized the energy in order to block the attack from Alicia.

It went ahead and formed a barrier around the heart that was being targeted by Alicia. It was just that it was a little bit late, and the energy that it had mobilized was not capable of solidifying fast enough in order to be able to protect the heart.

Booom!

An explosion suddenly occurred inside Alicia’s body the moment that the two energies collided with each other. It was as if a nuclear reaction had suddenly been activated, and the explosion was not small.

Alicia suddenly felt her consciousness waning. She felt it. She felt that she was losing control over her body, and she could not tell what was happening outside anymore. It was clear that she was no longer going to be alive, because she could feel that she had succeeded in what she planned.

Although she was regretful that she did not manage to create a good life for her parents, but at least she was not the one that was going to be used in order to cause more chaos for the humans.

With that final thought, Alicia’s consciousness sank into endless darkness.
