Chapter 329: Sacrificing Soldiers

"Okay. All of you sit down so that we can talk." Vincent said as he looked at the two.

Henry went ahead and sat down on the couch that was opposite the one that was occupied by Beatrice and Vincent. Sarah followed suit, and sat beside him.

Vincent looked at Sarah with a solemn expression on his face. At this time, he was feeling a little hesitant about telling Sarah about what had really happened to her family.

According to the relationship that existed between the two families, in normal situations, he was supposed to protect Sarah’s family. But, he didn’t do anything like that.

Vincent was just about to speak up when suddenly, they heard movements coming from the entrance of the mansion. Then not long later, Olivia walked in. At this time, she was breathing a little heavily, considering that she had rushed over the moment that she was informed about what Sarah was doing.

Additionally, they believed that Olivia would be capable of preventing Sarah from doing anything stupid. So, they hoped that Olivia was going to tell her this information.

Olivia revealed a solemn expression the moment that Sarah’s family was mentioned. Then, she looked at Sarah who was looking back at her with both curiosity and anxiousness on her face.

After taking a deep breath, she started talking. "During the time that everything happened, we were together. We had not yet arrived here. We were still on the way, coming from Crystal city to Lockwood city."

"According to the information that I have been told by my parents, the military was summoned to go to Hillstown city. According to the information, it seemed that Hillstown city was in great trouble. And due to that reason, all the military personnel in different cities that were close to Hillstown city were summoned.

Your father was part of the military. And so was my father. Your father decided to follow the rules of the military, and go according to the summon. But for my father, he refused.

According to the summon, all the soldiers that were going to follow the order were supposed to go there with their families. It was clear that it was unknown if they were going to come back anytime soon.

Perhaps this was a method that they were using to make sure that the soldiers would completely focus on the task at hand, instead of simply getting confused during the fights, thinking about their families.

But still, there is one fact that remains. That is, there is danger in traveling between cities. During the time that we were traveling from Crystal City, we had already experienced all the dangers. It was just that we were strong enough, and that was the reason why we were capable of reaching here safely.

But, it could be different for the soldiers. Only the soldiers possessed the greatest experience when it came to combat. But what about their families?

For her family to be moving from one city to another, that was definitely another big risk that they had taken. Additionally, they had just gone to Hillstown city. Hillstown city was definitely bigger than Lockwood city.

From this, one could already infer that the number of zombies in that city was definitely higher as compared to the number of zombies that could be found in this city. Additionally, there was no guarantee that there were no members of the other races present in that city as well.

To make matters worse, there was also a forest close by. That implied that the members of the monster race were obviously going to attack as well. That was already enough trouble. Then, what about faction battles?

Sarah continuously got nervous, that the light element began flickering on her body again. It was clear that she was losing control of her emotions.

When Olivia realized this, she grabbed Sarah’s hand. The moment that she did so, she felt like she was being shocked. But still, she did not let go of Sarah’s hand.

"Sarah, calm down. They have gone to Hillstown city. And you know what city that is. That is where Henry and Adam are going to. So, we are going there to look for your parents. As long as they are alive, we are definitely going to be able to find them." Olivia stated, trying to calm Sarah down.

After hearing what Olivia had said, Sarah finally began calming down. At least, it was not as if she was going to save her family alone. With the help of Henry and Adam, together with Olivia, it was definitely not going to be troublesome for them to be able to find her family if they were alive.

So, all that she could do right now was to hope that they were still alive. Otherwise, she would definitely go to the military base and massacre it. They were the ones who had ordered the soldiers to move there after all.

But then again, Sarah thought about something else. She looked at Olivia and asked, "According to what I know, the communication systems that existed before have already been destroyed and are no longer functioning. So, how was it possible for the soldiers that are present in Lockwood city to be summoned to Hillstown city without the communication system?"

That implied that the communication system of the military had also failed. So, how was it possible that they had actually communicated with soldiers that were in different cities?

"Those guys actually risked a lot. In order to be able to summon soldiers from different cities, they had sent over several helicopters. The majority of the helicopters were destroyed, but they still managed to get the information here." This time, Vincent was the one who responded.

The expression on his face immediately revealed that he was definitely angry at the military.

At the time, they had sent helicopters all over the country, to the cities that were closer. It was just that each helicopter did not possess many people. Instead, it only possessed three people.

So, whenever each helicopter was destroyed, three lives would be lost. Nevertheless, two helicopters managed to reach this place. And after giving the information, those six people turned around and left without waiting to take the soldiers with them.

That was one of the reasons why Vincent had decided that he was not going to go there. There was no way that he was going to risk his family’s life because of a military that did not care about the lives of their own soldiers.

Sarah remained silent. But still, the expression on her face told everyone that the worry that she was having had increased. From just this information, Sarah could tell that if her family managed to reach the city, then, could it be that they would be sacrificed for some stupid course of the military?

"When are we going there?" Sarah immediately asked. This time, the question was directed towards Henry.
